  • I've had the Tiger for a week now, just took it in for the 500 miles break-in service and to have the panniers and top case installed. I just wanted to do a walk-around to show some of the features. So far, I am loving this bike. So much more advanced than any other motorcycle I've owned.

    Hi Ron. Just came accross your video. I have the white 2018 Tiger 1200 XRT model and love it. Have the same extras on it as you - upper & lower crash bars and the Triumph logo (Givi) panniers. Fantastics bikes and much better all round than the much over-praised BMW GS/GSA (I've owned them and the Triumph's engine is streets ahead, even the new GS1250). Nice video. Pity we here in Ireland don't see much of that sunshine you had when shooting the video !!

      Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Thanks for the info on your BMW experience. I actually visited a BMW dealer prior to buying the Tiger. I wandered in the shop alone for close to 15-20 minutes and was never approached by a salesperson...so I left. The folks at the Triumph dealer were top notch, super friendly...plus...I was equally interested in the Tiger anyway, so the decision was easy. THanks again and ride safe! Visiting Ireland is on my travel bucket list!

    Gorgeous bike. Wow! Tiger has got serious street credibility. With electronic windscreen and illuminated handlebar switches and more; unlike BMW and their popular GSA offerings do not. Tiger is most definitely thinking about what their customers want. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.

    Nice one Ron, that Desert edition is the best value model in the range and the best looking. I think that paint will be fine, it is likely just a matte type clear coat and the actual paint is not exposed. May you enjoy many many miles on her and I will follow your travels with interest.

That’s going to be a heavy girl out on the trails, I was wondering did they fix the road modes while in off road mode when you turn the motorcycle off it switches back to normal hwy mode and doesn’t stay in off road mode? That’s a wise purchase on the upper crash bars as I have heard the upper plastics is easy to break ...as being a poor guy myself I think I have shyed away from the triumph due to high prices on parts and services, I’m going to get the KLR instead....we’ll can’t wait to see some of your journeys out on it and it’s ok to make longer videos if you can...I enjoy longer vids of bike journeys...God bless

Honestly, I stopped to lookj at the BMW's one day after work and I wandered around the floor for at least 15 minutes and nobody came to talk to me and I didn't see anyone on the floor, so I left. The Triumph dealer as super friendly and helpful. Both bikes have pros and cons, but they are so close, depending on which fanboy site you visit. I think the TIger has more to offer for price, so, price and dealer experience was my deciding factor.

    • @Ron_C

      I'm pretty sure it is the same as anywhere else. Labor rates, oil, etc. I did, however, purchase a 3 year plan for all services at a price of $1500. My plan is to get the mileage for the valve check service (that will cost over $1,000)...but will be free during the 3 year plan!

    Really nice bike, have been considering the same bike!
    My only concern is how durable the matte paint will be? As I've always being used to bikes with a shiny topcoat finish, that you can buff out, so have no experience of this paint finish!
    Will you be adding any paint protectors?

    • @Ron_C
      @Ron_C  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! I have not even thought about this. My KLR has a matte paint job and I've never has any issues with it so far and I've laid it down a few times, at least in very wet, muddy and somewhat muddy conditions. I might look into paint protectors, but I'm not overly concerned to be honest.

      @@Ron_C Thanks, just ordered it. I crashed my 2014 XC and replaced it with this DE. Awesome bike!

      Sorry to hear about the XC, but glad that you are still able to ride! I love the DE, it is, by far, the most advanced bike I've owned! Now I just need to win the lotto so I can afford a mid sized ADV bike!

    i have a 1215cc xca explorer i would like a bigger tank those things drink fuel when you press on, and sort out the [heat] from the motor when the weather warms up 25-35 degrees plus it is very uncomfortable.

      Yeah, a bit more fuel would be nice! It does get hot, but It hasn’t bothered my while moving. My previous bikes would get hot sitting still too. Thanks for the visit!

    What's your height and do you have any problem mounting the bike?

    • @Ron_C
      @Ron_C  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am 6'1", no, I have no issues. My KLR-650 is taller and I had no issues on that either. There is a slightly lower seat position, maybe an inch.

    How is the heat? I hear it gets pretty hot

    • @Ron_C

      It gets hot, but I really don't think it was any worse than my old KLR 650. Even my Honda VTX got hot at times.
