If I went the cdl route and wanted to by my own boss with a big rig I’d be in debt 150k+ right off the bat. With 150k I could get 3-4 vans drive one van and put drivers in the others and gross $1 million plus with less regulation and red tape B) every day I see a semi either flipped over, on fire, or broke down. C) y’all get harassed by DOT all the time D) you have to stay at truck stops or rest areas E) gotta stop at weight stations, keep dot logs F) maintenance is expensive af for a semi. I’m good on all that. A lot of people get one major thing to fix and it puts them out the game. 18 wheels and breaks to maintain as apposed to 4. G) I don’t wanna keep going lol so yes I agree y’all should get paid more. You have to deal with so much more stuff. So yes you get paid more and you’re home. I also have no reason to be home as my lease is up, I have no kids, and my TH-cam channel will make more money for me in the long run. Appreciate you watching and stay safe out there on those roads.

I work at OD, Old Dominion. 401k match health ins etc. At the end if you still getting $ 1.50 a mile which you just did, its not worth it. People make that $347 on a doordash. Just saying , milage pay is so low is all.

Just an example could be a sweet electronic that is a "must have" in your opinion. It's easy to set up a van from scratch watching info online, but after being on the road like you have I'm sure you know of things that new ppl may have unintentionally over looked. The tips, tricks and hacks are always appreciated.

Consider taking a percentage out for taxes when you do your breakdowns at the end. Uncle Sam always gets his share of whatever you make. Then your state Governor takes his cut as well. Just something to think about because no one seems to mention the taxman.
I would but honestly last year I almost deducted all my income with tax credits and daily per diems that I hardly paid any taxes. I spent 80% of last year on the road. Deducted everything possible

He doesn't screw around; too many people have found that out the hard way. Better to have the money and not need it rather than wonder how to pay a $25K tax bill at the end of the year.

No not otr. Most nights I sleep 12-4am then drive to receiver, sleep, wake up and do it all again. If you can find a way to do local work maybe it’s possible but it’s tough going the local route

I wish I had more knowledge on other companies but unfortunately I don’t. I’ve just worked for one since I started. A lot of people jump around til they find a good match
I love people like you. It’s not worth it to you. I was a driver for a company here. Paying my dues learning the business on someone else’s dime. I’m now owner operator and live a life I could never have imagined. Sure if you look at this one job it might not be worth it but this was a stepping stone. Don’t get so caught up in instant gratification that you lose sight of the big picture.

I have an external diesel heater. Works wonders. Don’t need to leave the van on it just cyphens out a little diesel

I use ratchet straps hook them under the pallet and hook the other end to the fork lift and they pull it out.

Luck! It’s hard to find the mom and pop fleet owners. And the big guys have long lists.
