Love's Travel Stop is my favorite, when I travel with my kids. It would take me at least 4 days to drive 2500 miles, not good for expediting business...
i would so love to quit my job as a rural mail carrier. i make decent money but im beginning to hate the job. i want to get into expediting but damn this is alot of driving. im not sure i could hold up to it.
I bought a cargo van in 1998 and leased on with Panther...Pay was 1.10 per loaded mile..Gas at the time was 1.50 range....I criss crossed the country many times and lived right out of my van...I made a small fortune and after 5 years on the road met a gal and got married...There went that but man it was great if you like driving..No regrets a tall..
What kind of money do you make taking 1 pallet of shelves 2500 miles? I drive approximately 170 miles a day with my sprinter here in Austin Texas. I average 350 bucks a day and I'm home every night.
No doubt good for you! I know people doing local making $500 a day. This is also just one job and not every trip is a home run. and I also never claimed being a driver for a company paid a lot?
I also make money from TH-cam, my music, investments and I do this for the experience and to work my way up to an owner operator. 80% of my wages are also written off. I’m good brother. Appreciate you watching
@@ExpeditingAmerica I'm not criticizing you...I'm honestly just wondering what that kind of a haul going that far away pays. I enjoy driving and making deliveries myself...I was just curious. Be safe
I replied to an ad on a job posting site they were looking for a driver. I have new episodes up now where I drive for myself but use the same company to book my loads for less of a fee
Do you have your own authority!? If so how do you fave ur Dot on FmCSA I live in Utah and it been hard since I been having problems with the FMCSA since I can’t put that I have a sprinter since I don’t carry more then 10k pounds and I
In this episode I was just a driver. I transitioned to owner operator and had my own authority but enjoy the lifestyle I had with a carrier so that’s what I do know just run under my carrier. New episode drops tonight
Since this is an interstae commercial load. Do you or the van owner file IFTA fuel tax? And how about the van license plate! Is it have to be apportioned plate?
Thanks for the replied. Yes, I understand about the under 10k# then the driver no needs to following the fmcsa safety regulations. So I guess probably the owner of the van file and paid for the fuel tax for each States that your van rolling through because the van carry the commercial pay load.
Alright, just search and this is IFTA requirements: any vehicles >26k# regardless of number of axle. Any vehicles 3 axles or more regardless of gross weight.
So you travel over the road all across the country .how many pallets does your van takes and is the height high enough for tall pallets and is the van wide enough for wide pallets ?
@@ExpeditingAmerica that’s great ! Here’s the deal I took an early retirement from my job of 24 years and I receive a pension . I’ve been contemplating getting into this business for some time now . I thought box truck but the cost including start up cost and all the regulations made that not appealing . Than I saw sprinter vans . My question is I should I start off expediting or should I just jump right in on my own as you are now and get on load boards and get rolling . I will rent a sprinter van first just to see if I like this . What would you recommend?
So, you aren't the van owner? Seems like quite a bit off right off the top for that. Still decent money tho. I'd take it. What was your food expense that trip, and where do you shower?
In the old episodes I was just driving for a fleet owner, then I took over the payments from someone getting out of expediting on a lease to own agreement, then I blew my engine, drove for a fleet owner again and now I’m back in my old truck with a rebuilt engine. This expediting was an experience and while I felt I was making okay money it wasn’t worth it looking back. Not this FTL expedited freight lane anyway. Not unless you got a solid connect with a brokerage or a certain lane
@ExpeditingAmerica I'm thinking of getting in, but I want to make dang sure I can make it work before I shell out my limited start up capital on a rig, but need the rig to get started. I'm thinking like you, have a sleeping area to avoid hotel expenses. The recruiter I spoke with is with a freight load outfit a couple hours drive from me in the Houston area. He makes it sound so easy to get started, and I always get nervous if it sounds too good to be true. I gotta do something tho, but this first step I have to get right, I'd hate to hastily go out and buy a van, then it not work out and I'm stuck with it. I wish I was more of a "just do it and adjust on the fly" person, but I'm more of an over analyzer which can be worse at times.
You always make more with your own authority. IT’s preference really. I go through a carrier because after I drop off I don’t wanna bid and deal with brokers. I’d rather hang with my dog and do on hikes, go to the gym or work on TH-cam videos
@@ExpeditingAmerica ok and thanks for responding expeditiously. So I’m thinking about renting a cargo van to see if I would like it before purchasing and than possibly not liking it . Would you recommend that ?
Hi great video, just subscribed! Quick questions, how did you go about getting your own client's too cut out the middleman (brokers)? Also, when you were using someone else's van, i see you paid them out first, then minus gas cost, and you keep the rest. But who pays for oil changes, tires, other maintenance repairs, etc?? Thanks again
I didn’t cut out the brokers. I went through a carrier that bid with brokers. They were the owner of the van I was driving. They pay for all maintenance. I just drive. It’s a horrible deal and I suggest people only do it to see if they like the job
@ExpeditingAmerica thanks a lot for the info. Me and a friend have 2 box trucks and a sprinter van in Florida as well. I'm just getting started only about 4-5 months in. So we are still figuring out the best ways to go about it. Lol, be safe out there. Thanks again, peace
It’s just like semi business you have carriers, fleet owners, and owner operators. You can drive for someone or get your own van and drive for yourself
That’s why having a good accountant is important. As well as getting the most life out of your van. These diesels are said to go 1,000,000 miles. If you average $1 a mile and do 150k miles or more a year ( bustin ass) that’s not a bad living. But yes fleet owners make their money off multiple vans running. Unless they are owner operator. That’s the key
This has to be a joke

It’s a okay place sometimes and sometimes it’s great! Thanks for watching Andy. Dropped a new episode today. Stay blessed!
How do u secure the plywood to the floor do u just screw it down
Yes screwed down into sub floor from mercedes
The owner of the van did it
Great vids
Thank you Fritz!
i would so love to quit my job as a rural mail carrier. i make decent money but im beginning to hate the job. i want to get into expediting but damn this is alot of driving. im not sure i could hold up to it.
You were in the prime of trucking my man. Thanks for sharing! Thanks for watching!
Hello. What do You think is better, diesel or gasoline? Keep otra!!
Better? For what? They both do the same job. Ones cheaper to maintain, and one lasts longer. Not much more to say
Do you use a factoring company? Any recommendations please?
Nope sorry none. I’m just a driver. No idea
Be safe
@@ExpeditingAmerica wThat is a good advantage to get written off do expenses do you claims for deductions and written off!
Where do you get your loads?
Dispatcher usually using sylectus
How do u find someone to lease their van to u??? Like how u gave the owner a percentage???
I replied to an ad on a job posting site they were looking for a driver. I have new episodes up now where I drive for myself but use the same company to book my loads for less of a fee
@@ExpeditingAmerica yea I seen a few of ya videos congrats on being successful my guy !!!
@@ZeroMcGurker shit success is in the eye of the beholder. But thank you my friend
I know that rock from anywhere, stop by the truck stop the next exit up
This was long ago my friend
Nice video bro, what's the engine capacity of that mercedes van the model and the year what about Fuel consumption how many miles do you service
Thanks for watching. The engine is a 4cy twin turbo ifs a 2500 170” with high roof. Normal service. Oil change every 8-10k gets about 20 mpg
Do you have a maintenance program with anyone?
Do you have your own authority!? If so how do you fave ur Dot on FmCSA I live in Utah and it been hard since I been having problems with the FMCSA since I can’t put that I have a sprinter since I don’t carry more then 10k pounds and I
In this episode I was just a driver. I transitioned to owner operator and had my own authority but enjoy the lifestyle I had with a carrier so that’s what I do know just run under my carrier. New episode drops tonight
How can I get in contact with you have a few questions
Ask them on here so it helps others who may have the same question.
Hello bro. How can I apply the job? Please link .
Sorry we are not hiring. It’s hard to find a company with a open van. Most people buy a van of their own and sign it on to a carrier
I'm doing expedite in a 06 dodge sprinter 😢
Get it in! Be safe driver!
Been out for a month 😩 but so far 9k in profit after expensive.
Since this is an interstae commercial load. Do you or the van owner file IFTA fuel tax? And how about the van license plate! Is it have to be apportioned plate?
Check out the fmcsa website. I’m under 10k lbs in gross weight. We fly under the radar
Thanks for the replied. Yes, I understand about the under 10k# then the driver no needs to following the fmcsa safety regulations. So I guess probably the owner of the van file and paid for the fuel tax for each States that your van rolling through because the van carry the commercial pay load.
I may be wrong! will do more research about the van Apportioned license plate and IFTA license sticker for fuel tax filling.
Hey will! Yessir all over. I can fit pallets up to 70” high and 53” wide at most I can do 3 48x48 pallets. Thanks for watching
@@smoothwill expediting is minimal sleep. But I like it better than box truck. Hard to say. I’ve only done expediting in vans
How did you find this load I have a family member who's trying to do van hot shot
My dispatcher found it using load boards. Your family member should know about them if they are looking into the industry
👍 great
Thanks Dallas
@ExpeditingAmerica
I'm thinking of getting in, but I want to make dang sure I can make it work before I shell out my limited start up capital on a rig, but need the rig to get started.
Are you required to go throught weigh stations/DOT scales?
No I’m not. Under 10k lbs
Are you not bound by dot regulations about 11 hours driving then mandatory 10 hour break?
Good question. Anyone under 10k lbs gross volume weight is not subject to dot Elog books and all that jazz
@@ExpeditingAmerica dang. How much did your load weigh? That van itself has to weigh 6-7000lbs I would think.
Do a person make more money expediting for a company or going off the load board and working that way and do you need an authority like a box truck ?
You always make more with your own authority. IT’s preference really. I go through a carrier because after I drop off I don’t wanna bid and deal with brokers. I’d rather hang with my dog and do on hikes, go to the gym or work on TH-cam videos
@@ExpeditingAmerica ok and thanks for responding expeditiously. So I’m thinking about renting a cargo van to see if I would like it before purchasing and than possibly not liking it . Would you recommend that ?
I’m a truck driver so I’m curious when you do 1000 miles in 16 hrs do you take any rest breaks at all
I take breaks for bubba Joe and if I get tired I take a break but usually can do 16 hours no nap. I nap/sleep before and after usually
Nice video... How do you strap the freight down with no e tracks?
I’ve got hook rings on the side on the floor to clip them too
Who do you used for loads?
We use sylectus load boards and work with some carriers like millhouse etc
I already drove OTR but I want to switch to the van business, but I don't know how. what is your suggestion
It’s just like semi business you have carriers, fleet owners, and owner operators. You can drive for someone or get your own van and drive for yourself
@@ExpeditingAmerica Do you have any contact of a dispatcher, broker or owner operator who is hiring
If I did the list woulda been ran through by now lol people ask me 5-10 times a day 🤣😂 naw man I don’t unfortunately
I'm new to your channel but I'm on the same moves ...get that money 💰
Hell yeah thanks for watching!!! You expedite too?
@@ExpeditingAmerica no ..I got lucky in stumble across 2 good dedicated contracts that keeps me local ..dc, md, VA Delaware and PA..
I just bought a box truck also ..
Thanks for the content. Such a cool dog! 🐕 😎
He’s the best! And thanks for watching! More to come in 2023
@@ExpeditingAmerica For sure! Look forward to it.
Yo. I love that Texas beaver n brisket!!!
Pretty rough split with van owner, depreciation and maintenance is probably $0.15 per mile
I’m looking to get into driving But more local in Michigan area. Any advice?
Local is damn near impossible to do starting off. Everyone pays their dues doing otr
Do you help people get started? I do not have a van. But i am interested doimg it.
Is your van diesel or gas? How many gal tank. How many miles per fill up?
This van is diesel about 22 gallons bout 450 miles
What loads boards are you looking
Sylectus
