Tamiya kits, and their figures are excellent quality... 🙂 👍
I like so much of the Tamiya 1/35 armour kits because they are one of the few manufacturers who do frequently include figures with their tanks and armoured vehicles; it gives a real sense of scale, and the figure sets included are often well thought-out as well - they make for an interesting scene!
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with these bikes and riders; the diorama idea is excellent 👍

June 20, 2023---Something you/others may not know about figure heights. I'm into 1/35 scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas right now and happened to compare Tamiya's figure against an Italeri one....BIG difference. Googled and found out the AVERAGE height of Americans, Europeans was 5' 8" tall, with Russians being a bit shorter by an inch and Japanese were about 5' 6" or so tall. Tamiya's early figures are accurate height wise, though haven't check their more recent kits. Dad was 5' 8", while I'm 5' 10". Used to drive truck and was fortunate enough to be inside a B-17 and B-29.....helped when I stooped over a bit getting inside. Had some health problems the last few years (I'm 70 now) but going to get into resin printing after seeing some YT videos about it and have downloaded about 5K of files of things I can use, including not only different kinds of bikes but also got 2 files on tricycles for adults. Figure they'd make good escape vehicles, being able to move faster than some zombie. Got about 6 of these kits and hope to modify some of them into tricycles to improve my modeling skills while hopefully resin printing others, including motorcycles. Started building/ buying kits back in '74 when I returned from Panama while in the Air Force.

For it's age it's still a cracking kit straight from the box, even if the spokes and chain are slightly overscale (imho). Last year I built this again but using homemade P.E. (Terrible failure!). So splashed out on a commercial set and the model is raised ten fold. Will be looking forward to your build.

The 'duffle bag' was called a bread bag by German soldiers,

Great review but the wheel spokes have put me off this kit, I can't see why Tamiya couldn't include PE spokes. I'd rather pay more for the kit with PE than buy the kit then have to hunt down aftermarket PE.

Will be interesting to see this one completed and painted up, diorama idea sounds good!

How about making the dioramas as a pair of book-ends?

I wanted to see if I could somehow make one on each side of a square cut into 2 triangles and hinge it so it opens up to reveal the model.
Bookends does sound like a fab idea though. Got me thinking now...

Yeah. I speak and read 4 languages; clearly none of which are Japanese or Chinese 😂

    Tamiya, a "Chinese" company.
