I was young, no money, in debt, sleeping on a friends living room floor, no prospects, lost… and I happened to see Sam Roberts band live in a small venue in the UK. It was 2004, I was in my 20s. The lyrics of this tune spoke to me at a time I really needed it. I became obsessed with the album. These lyrics helped me reflect and ultimately I turned everything around. The rest is history. 🙏🏻👌🏻😎
I’m so happy you found your way again. Life is a struggle for so many of us. I hope you’re well and happy and hope it’s been a blessed year for you. May it continue always. Much love from Canada my friend. 🇨🇦 ❤ 🇬🇧
Most Canadian Musicians are overly Underrated because being a Canuck is not USA #1, Truthful Music from Canucks are experiences way more often than Not.!!!
Can't believe how underrated this band is. We We're Born in a Flame is one of the best rock albums from the 2000's. God, time goes by too fast man but it's true, "been dying since the day I was born cause there ain't no road that ain't a hard road to travel on" Greetings from Florida!
Finally a 21st century band that the singer has a good voice, most of the music nowadays you cannot tell gender they all sound like whining whimps. This is a wonderful find . I'll be following this band ,great music ,thank you lads
I was fortunate to see Sam and band open for The Tragically Hip in October 2004. It was fun to talk with him after their set before The Hip took the stage. Thanks Sam, you have a great sense of humor and helped make for an unforgettable night! (Portland OR, The Aladdin Theater)
@@jeffreybarkin3177 He seems way ahead of his time. Dying since the day I was born seems like a very deep understanding of the nature of life. Have you ever left a life behind?
Anyways, one of my most fave songs ever. Sam Roberts is one of the few real Canadian musicians to get supported as a result of the programs promoting music from the country. I rarely say this but this has got to be one of my most favourite songs.
This line spoke to me today. weird timing listening to this song specifically after something happened yesterday that directly relates to taking back what was yours.
There is something so comforting and homey feeling about the Sam Roberts Band music. When people ask me my favourite music, my answer always includes Sam Roberts. The music is so quintessentially Canadian. "Soft brown hair as long as a Canadian Highway." I just go to such a better place when I listen to Sam Roberts and I sing along. Sam looks like someone you know, and the music is world class. I share sentiments with the lyrics and love the live performances. I am such a fan. Please come to Victoria, BC or Vancouver soon, (Hell, I will come to Sask to see you, that would be the most Canadian concert ever hahaha I just don't have leave and cant go far from base until 10 January 25) Love you guys so much, Thank-you for making music that has been a part of my soul since I heard you for the first time 2003?
I completely forgot how much I loved Sam Roberts until my local classic radio station played this song. right when I was leaving the house. I looked it up on their website.
Thanks Sam! Your music and lyrics have saved my ass more more than once. Just saw you guys in St.John, Canada last summer and you were amazing and I cried. Thank you.

Fantastic. Just rewatched ONE WEEK and this song is perfectly cast to set the scene. Not just that, this cut loves so much while cutting it's own groove. The best Velvet Underground since Doug Yule quit, and I mean that with the most sincere honesty and compliment.

yea you are soooo right, Canadian music in general is grossly underrated and has been for a long long time.
Most Canadian Musicians are overly Underrated because being a Canuck is not USA #1, Truthful Music from Canucks are experiences way more often than Not.!!!
Doesn't compete with the long, leggy, writhing, heart pounding, cold sweats, carnal eye candy appeal of K-pop.

Feel
Feel it grow
In your mind
In your mind
Life
Is how you live it
Through time
Through time
And there's no desert sun
That is hot enough
To feed your fire
We shipwreck like fools
Only to become
The ocean's choir
And the sun dies until it's reborn
And there's no road
That ain't a hard road
To travel on
Got lost on my way
But you
Found the road again
Stay true to your friends
Cause they'll save you
In the end
There must be something in the air, in the air
Some kind of answer to my prayers, to my prayers
Some kind of answer to my prayers
Been dying since the day I was born
Cause there's no road
That ain't a hard road
To travel on
I have a vision in my mind
Of a life that I've left behind
Yeah, can't you see that
Lost souls
Can't swim
You know you'll sink
But you still jump in
And it's alright
To get caught
Stealing back
What you've lost
Yeah, don't you know that
Lost souls
Can't swim
You beat them back
Or they'll drag you in
And I can't say
That I am sorry
For all my medicines
And you try to find a love
That'll see you through your darkest days
And her soft brown hair
Is as long as a Canadian highway
And the sun dies until it's reborn
But there's no road
That ain't a hard road
To travel on
Been dying since the day I was born
Cause there's no road
That ain't a hard road
To travel on
There must be something in the air, in the air
All my “many sins”
