    Another interesting video. Here in the UK, there's a history of burying 'witches', suicide victims and criminals at crossroads. We don't know why but it is thought it was to do with superstition that if they rose from the grave they'd not know which way they should travel. There are several sites across the country, best regards.

    A rich man getting away with murder,what a novel concept and label the woman a witch. It's a pretty standard way to deal with this unfortunate situation for a child born out of wedlock at that time. A sad ,but well told story. You really are a gifted storyteller!

    Wow, the Sloan family created quite a soap opera for the folks of Hanoverton to watch. I wonder if the chains and talisman were not so much for a "witch" per se, but a superstitious protection and insurance that all the secrets of George Sloan will stay buried beneath the ground in the unmarked grave, especially, since it seemed he had quite a few secrets spread around town. As always, that was an amazing walk through history. Thank you!

    You’re a gifted storyteller! Fascinating tales, there are probably threads of truth in each. Witches were sometimes buried in a far corner of the cemetery. Also instead of being buried facing East, (as done in a Christian burial), they would be buried facing North or South.

    How very sad for both Christinas. I believe they both existed, and considering the history I can see how the towns people would rather forget them both as myths.
    People are very strange at times, especially with young ladies with an almost ethereal beauty about them. You would think they would be showered with attention and suitors, but not always the case.
    We went to school with a young lady who was such a beauty as that, and it was quite difficult for her. Teachers informed her she would not get off easy in their classes, which she never had expected. One teacher even accused her for talking all through a class the day prior, which she didn’t even attend as she had been out for a doctor’s appointment that day. He threatened to flunk her and suspend her for 3 days, but luckily she had a doctors excuse on file at the office which proved she was not even in class.
    The other girls would harass her during lunch time, and when she would go outside they followed her. One day one of the girls jumped her from behind and started a fight with her thinking because she was also a gentle spirited person she would be an easy fight. The girl judged wrongly, and lost the fight.
    The boys all adored her, thought she was beautiful, but never spoke to her much at all except to harass her. They all wanted to ask her out, but since she was so beautiful they decided she would just turn them down, so none of the boys ever asked her out. We knew her well then, and she was a very sweet soul behest by many sorrows sadly. Last I heard she was not married even to this day. It was said she married once, but not long after he tried to do her in as she slept for no reason at all, and she left him, and never married again.
    So, when we see one blessed with such ethereal beauty it can be said they are likely not as blessed as we think their lives would be. Perhaps when a young lady is young she may only ask God for enough beauty to get her by with, and leave the rest for another. You never know what comes with beauty that sears at mens hearts that can make them into beasts. It likely has no blessings attached at all.
    By the way, another excellent historical video about Ohio. The state certainly has a great deal of history that is very fascinating. Thank you for sharing this story of two unfortunate Christinas.

  • @MeMe-nw9mq
    @MeMe-nw9mq ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So very sad. It seems that we hear this scenario acted out time and time again, even unto the present day. A woman doesn’t like or want to have anything to do with a man and instead of receiving that rejection with dignity, and moving on with their life to find love elsewhere, they instead turn their mind to punishment for the woman not being interested in them. So immature and both socially and emotionally stunted. I used to be married to a man that was a lot like this. Any time he didn’t get his way he acted like a spoiled child, screaming, yelling, pulling at his hair, throwing things, breaking things, destroying several very nice pieces of furniture in the process, doing everything but throwing himself on the floor and beating the floor with his fists and kicking his feet (although it wouldn’t have surprised me if he had). The first few times it happened, it was quite alarming. After that it was grab the popcorn and watch the show. It was comical. A grown assed man acting like a toddler. Heck, when my daughter was that little, she didn’t even act like that, ever. I have since found that men that act like that weren’t ever guided to learn less destructive ways to express their anger . Did I mention that he was an only child and a huge Momma’s boy? I can happily report that I have since divorced this small minded, fit throwing little boy and am now married to a real man. Looks it, acts it. When I look back upon my much younger self, I can’t help but think “What the heck was I thinking?” With age comes wisdom and experience. Some people come into our lives to be a blessing, while others are a lesson. I learned mine, for sure.

      Cemetery is owned by the town of Hanoverton.
      The Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton is an incredible Bed and Breakfast full of local history. If your looking for a hotel you’re going to want to head to Lisbon or Salem Ohio. Both will do you well.
      It is in fact near the heart of Bigfoot country. Most sightings in that area happen in the Salt Fork area as well as Malvern Ohio.

    Crazy story. Now what IF yo combine the two? So we have a pastor that stalks his victim and then gaslights the entire town to get his way. A father who can't seem to keep his pants buttoned and gets others to do his dirty work. What it seems like we have is two "influential and powerful men" acting self entitled and later on, rather vengeful. Like spoiled brats ;) It was a man's world back then as well. If there was two Christinas then they both were the helpless victims of a pair of degenerate men who only cared for themselves. It always amazes me that a person can whip up an entire town to turn on an individual but even today we see that played out too. They're just not accused of being witches.

      I used to have a paranormal investigation team when I lived down in Georgia and I used to live on the witches hanging grounds in Smyrna and we found the records from the Smyrna Witch Trials were they hundred and twelve witches in the government Library and they hung them like right behind the Air Force Base in a small area also they executed so many people accused of Witchcraft and so many states from South Carolina Georgia Florida Ohio that a lot of the stuff is off the records and you have to go digging and either the old County or government libraries cuz a lot of people don't realize that there's a difference between the public the government and the local library I actually found out the trailer park we used to live in there was a witch that was hung in our front yard
