Do you know which is the fastest growing shoe company in the world?
It owns 40% market share in Switzerland... and is listed on the US stock market.
It’s the favorite of Roger Federer... and it’s not Nike, Adidas, Reebok or Asics.
The average price of a shoe is approx Rs 19000 (USD 225) and most people who try to search for it online, end up typing the name “QC”...
possibly because they are misreading the logo!
The company is called “ON”, and was founded in 2010 by a Triathlete gold medalist who wanted to build a better shoe for runners.
He made a shoe sole out of rubber water hoses, and pitched the design to Nike, but Nike rejected the design.
So he built the shoe himself and the company did over USD 2 Bn in revenue in 2023 with a gross margin of ~60%... and a market cap of close to USD 14 Bn - that’s 7X revenue multiple...
while Nike enjoys a multiple close to 2.7X
Roger Federer liked wearing the shoe so much, that he himself reached out to the founders, saying he wanted to be an investor.
You don’t officially get the shoes in India, but seems like every runner who travels abroad looks forward to getting a pair for their collection.
I’m not much of a runner, so haven’t caught any fancy for them yet... but if you use the brand, would love to know if you think they do better than a pair of Asics or Nikes that you’ve used.
