Hi Kathy- thank you for a great class! I limped into YogaWorks Montana January 2019 and happened to start class was Chris Stein. Then I began classes with her and Marla Apt, Koren, Scott, Nancy and Maryam. Iyengar yoga truly saved my life. I’m so grateful for this and everyone especially B.K.S. Iyengar 🙏🏼
Hi Edward, so happy you found your way to some great Iyengar teachers. It’s always our intension to reduce suffering on our path to self discovery. And it certainly is easier to do when we know how to keep ourselves out of pain. We are all so grateful for Bks Iyengar’s teachings, thanks for your note. 🙏🏻

Last time I tried the pose with the block under my lower back, may tailbone was hurting for days. Any suggestions as to how to adjust so I can do that pose? Maybe foam blocks are softer than cork…or did I position it incorrectly?
JP, the block is to be place on the bone of the tailbone. The hard surface against hard surface. You may have placed it to high up (lowback or higher) on the muscles and skin. If so, I can see why your back was sore. The wood block can be cushioned with a towel or blanket or use a foam block. My guess is you had it in the vulnerable place as many times is the case when first starting. Unfortunately the internet is not always as good as the actual in person class. There I could see you can have you adjust on the spot. Keep you knees bent and place the block, moving back and forth till its comfortable. Also there are too positions you can play with. Either widthwise across the sacrum region (also hard) evenly or the narrow edge which is lower down just below the sacrum and top of the tailbone. Let me know, Namaste, Kathy
