There is a box to enter a code for discount as well, but we don’t get that one here, so I don’t know. It seems like a hook to end up paying the full price anyway…😢
hi, i'm a high school graduate who is interested in teaching English online, i just wanted to know if a 18 year old was old enough to take the course? If so do you know of any online English teaching jobs that accept 18 year old that only have a TEFL certificate?
Hi there thank you for this video. if I do use your affiliate link on IOA would I be "forced" to maybe work for the companies that you work for? I know that if a certain companies offer to get the certificate for you and they pay for you then you have to work for them for... I am not sure how long. does it also work that way if I use a referred link to apply for it although I will be paying it myself? I was to ask how do you then get it when you are done with the course, so printing it out is an option or saving it as pdf.. got it thanks. how long does it take though to finish the course is there a specific timeframe put into place or may one work on their own pace, I would like to do it as quick as possible. thanks in advance
My link only gives you a discount, you can work wherever you want. I believe you have 6 months to finish the course, you can work at your own pace. Most people are able to finish it within a few hours.
@@TeacherBrett Thank you for responding. Do you perhaps know of any companies that teach kids and teens that are not big on TPR (that dont require teachers to use TPR) Or Companies that teach adults that provide material for teaching?
Hi there, I was on the IOA website for the TESOL/TEFOL certificate. I only see 7 modules though, aren't there supposed to be 10? I then got an email stating when I am done with the course I can download my ICOES certificate... do they mean TEFOL/TESOL certificate, is it the same thing or did I register for the wrong thing?
@@TeacherBrett the heading of the link you provided is "make money teaching online" instead of the one that reads "120 tesol certificate." Thats why the courses are a little different. How is the one you gave different from the one they have on the academy's website tiled 120 h Tesol certificate? Will I get the same tesol/tefol certificate when Iam done with the course?
I have two different courses linked above. Have you reached out to customer services? If you are enrolled in the wrong course they should be able to switch you!
@@TeacherBrett actually I was asking the opposite way. I got my CELTA and its YL extension in 2016, after years of teaching, and I am now moving to the US, will it be widely accepted/recognized there?
@@teacherwyatt5389 ah I see. Most kids in the US are going to get ESL services through the public school and to teach there you would need certification from the state. That usually entails a bachelors or masters degree in teaching English as a second language and then passing a state certification test. If you were to tutor with a private company or if you teach online at one of the companies like VIPKID then you could use it there, but it likely won’t allow you to work within the school system.

yes, there was a group in my state offering in-person TEFL for $1200! plus $300 deposit. i started what you recommended already.

Can this course be used for continuing education credit?
No I don’t think a state would accept it, but I could be wrong! It likely depends on your individual state rules for continuing education credit.
If you don’t mind sharing, how much do you make teaching online to other countries?
Usually around $25 an hour Dalinda!

ICOES is the accrediting body. I would reach out to IOAs customer service and double check! They are usually very good about responding quickly.

Have you heard about CELTA in the US?
Yes! That is a well respected program, I would definitely recommend it for anyone going overseas to teach.
