Also in randomizer, unlocking the training grotto grace also unlocks the stranded graveyard grace to skip the rick replacement if he's like melania or something impossible, so you could indeed have still fast travelled out of there.

In order to enjoy this video to the fullest I went on a DumpyKong rabbit hole and watched every challenge run (this all happened today) . I've got to say this is some of the most creative , well edited videos . They are full of heart and each one has its own soul . The thing I loved is how they intertwine with each other , like they are saying a story about your adventures . DumpyKong lore is fucking wild you guys . I am absolutely hooked on your videos ❤
I had the same phase 2 jumpscare on malenia in that same arena while doing a seamless co-op fog gate randomized run, I found that you can even use the staircase in the area to kind of cheese the fight if you have range.
I had a very similar idea but ended up with a very different ruleset that makes it more like a pokemon nuzlocke. The things that were imprtant to me: I should keep the aspect of limiting encounters and planning for a boss. So that's why I didn't randomize enemies. I am only alllowed one weapon per side dungeon, legacy dungeon or map fragment. The rule that made it most like pokemon nuzlockes is: I have to lock in my equipment for a boss (Luckily there are six slots, just like for pokemon) and have to beat the boss with that loadout, every death I lose the one I was using (to avoid me sacrificing shit weapons without ever using them). I limited levels by allowing leveling with boss weapons and made it so there is a fixed weapom level per boss (to mimic rare candy use). Overall it was very close to what I wanted but also very difficult.
30:00 fun fact, LMSH used Rivers of blood with his cold uchi because the fire and frost cancel each other when proc'd so you can continuously proc along with bleed eventually. And of course, Malenia is weak to all of those.
I think melina triggers to take you to the hold if you either defeat margit or rest at a grace beyond liernia (i have completely forgotten how to spell :/)

I have only watched a minute of the video so far, but I already feel like the “only leveling to 100” is gonna be brutal. Considering you’ll need stats to wield as many weapons as possible + having decent vigor and stam + maybe int and faith if magic is used, might be rough. This is my thoughts before watching the video tho

Defeating Limgrave bosses don't trigger her, but losing to Margit does.
