    Vehicles filmed at Dealerships are For Sale. Make sure to visit the dealerships website for detail info about each vehicle. If your watching a video thats older than 90 days you can expect that vehicle to most likely already being sold, unless its a new car.
    FYI - Charleston Car Videos on TH-cam Started in 2011. Back in 2008 is when I started filming cars as a car salesman to give people a better way to see a new or used vehicle. Over the years I ended up selling over 450 vehicles from doing videos. Today 1000's of vehicles have sold from people using my car videos to sell cars at dealerships all over the South East Region.
    I'm Chad Dolbier the creator of CCV. After High School I was unsure of what to do for a career as many young adults are. Instead of going to college I decided to start working in the car business in 2000. My first car job was at Acura of Charleston being a car detailer/washer. In 2003 our Acura store started to clear land next door and built Audi of Charleston. After a few years passing and still detailing Acura's & Audi's in 2005 I was asked to be a car salesman. In 2006 I started the Internet Department for Acura & Audi. Then in 2008 is when the car videos all started up! 2010 is when I left Acura & Audi and started my own car dealership video business. So far today I've built TH-cam channel for over 18 car brands & dealerships. So enjoy my channel and hopefully you can learn something new! As always I enjoy learning from you as well so make sure to send me your feedback!

    The red light is used at night, when you don’t want the white light to mess up your “night vision.” Red light does not irritate one’s eyes, so they’re commonly used in police and military environments.

    This thing is really fresh. There's not even a center console yet. Next stop is the upfitter to get all the partitions, storage racks, and light controls installed. They'll also install the center console which sometimes has a rubber arm pad on it.
    I work for a company that manufactures police equipment. We have a couple of these for product demos. The engine is the normal Explorer 3.7L. However, it has a higher idle and different shift program from the civilian version. It has enough power to get out of its own way, but it isn't as quick as my F150 Ecoboost.
    It's a good thing you didn't sit in the back seat and close the door. Many of these ship from the factory with the interior door handles completely disabled. On the old Crown Vics they'd toss the pieces in a plastic bag inside the door cavity so they could be later "repaired".

    A red light will not kill your night vision, but will still allow you to see stuff. Also, the key is like that so that you can leave the car running and still lock it if you have to jump and run from the car.

    • @JaredJanhsen
      @JaredJanhsen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because Ford's been making those key blanks and keyfobs for over 20 years and they're cheaper than keys that have the Passive Anti-theft chip embedded in them (regular folks that buy a used Interceptor can purchase the integrated keyfob and program it at home). My sister's '96 Mustang had the same keyfob. These newer cars will not let you exit the vehicle and lock the doors (I've tried). Departments that want the vehicle secure with the engine running will install a "SafeStop" device. It allows the key to be removed from the ignition which keeps the steering and shifter locked and also allows the doors to stay locked.

    The seats are really tough because they're probably stab proof, they used to have that on the crown vics. The doors also used to be ballistics rated so they could take small rounds. I'd assume it's the same on that. Also that big light is the ticket writing light. The red light is there bc it's harder to notice at night. Red light would be harder to see through the tinted windows plus it's easier on your eyes bc of the wavelengths or whatever.

    The red dome light inside the vehicle is used for night time use.
    Let's say that the officer needed to read a paper document or he dropped a pen or his/her phone on the floor, that red interior dome light allows the officer to see inside the vehicle but not be seen from the outside.
    Pretty much makes it harder for a bad guy or average person to see what is going on in the vehicle.
    Also less strain on the eyes.
    Plus just so you know thoes ford police vehicles have a proximity sensor so if the officer is parked in a parking lot typing a report and a bad guy is trying to sneak up on the officer to ambush him/her the car alerts the officer with beeping then the windows roll up and the doors lock.
    Vehicle has to be in park and it has to be enabled by the workshop that it's going to or by ford themselves

      Red light preserves night vision. You can turn off the light and immediately see in the dark vs a white light where your eyes have to readjust.
      This does not make it hard for the “bad guys” to see you.... idk why people post opinions instead of factual answers.

    The red light in the interior at 10:55 is for surveillance purposes. When it's "red" inside, the officer can see the outside better (or clearer, I'd say), even when it's dark out. This is just how our eyes react to the dark.

    • @ObamaTookMyCat
      @ObamaTookMyCat 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, not at all. Red and blue light doesnt destroy your natural night vision. So if you have to do anything inside the car or read anything, you can turn the red light on to preserve night vision, while also gaining illumination. The red light is very noticeable at range... so you turn that on at night people will see you just as good if not worse than the white flood light. I will have to say from experience, that its a bitch reading Drivers Licenses with red print at night when you turn that light on... it all disappears....

    10:37, my guess would be that its used for night, bluish colors iritates ur eyes and the bright white would just make ur pupils explode at night. Remember it takes like 30 seconds each time for ur eyes to get fully "adjusted" in and out of tunnels for example. So that would be my guess and reason... it doesnt irritate

    Alot more tech in these explorers. First you got the 3.7l v6 then the 6 speed transmission is tuned for law enforcement. It can hold gears through turns if it feels your driving aggressive. It also has special welded frame through the chassis for strength. Many things but yes it's pretty basic inside.

  • @Unknown_Paramedic
    @Unknown_Paramedic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    First off, Great video. Second, The dome light you're talking about is obviously multi use. The white function can be used whenever obviously and the red function is primarily used for night time use. Red is a lot easier on the eyes at night. So when there are citations being written/typed or anything else where you could use just a tiny bit of light, That's where the red comes into play.
    Say you pulled someone over and have their drivers license in your hand, You need to run that person's information thru a database located on the computer that the officer would have in his/her vehicle. Well obviously you need a light to read the drivers license and type that info into the computer right? Well that's where that red function comes into play. It's a very dim red illumination that comes from that light. If you were to use the white function of that light, It would take a long time for your eyes to readjust back to the darkness, Let's just hope that the person you have pulled over has not already jumped out of their vehicle and is rushing to you to possibly injure/kill you. Well now you can't see because your eyes have not readjusted to the night time. You don't necessarily have that problem with the red. I hope this helps you better understand what its use is for. Thank you again for the cool video, Hope I helped.

    The 3.7 isn't available on a normal Explorer or Taurus. They are special installs for the Interceptors... and some actually have the 3.5 Ecoboost... while others have the Ecoboost badge yet have a 3.7

    • @bobbob8940
      @bobbob8940 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not true at all. The 3.7 is in a lot of ford vehicles including the mustang and always have been. Most Taurus and Explorers have the 3.7... There is NOTHING special about this motor in the police series... only tough radiator and connections.

    • @nathant2414
      @nathant2414 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I am aware of the 3.7 being a factory component of several Ford Motor Company products. However, the Taurus and it's chassis sister the Explorer were available with the *3.5* naturally aspirated v6, not the 3.7.
      "Special Install" refers to the 3.7 being only available in the "Interceptor" model for the Taurus/Explorer.
      Compared to the consumer 3.5 v6, the 3.7 definitely out performs it, while being cheaper than the Ecoboost option. That being said, some departments spend the extra cash for the 3.5 Twin Turbo which delivers top of the line acceleration.

    • @bobbob8940
      @bobbob8940 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't think headlights light up the led strip around the housing on the PI's. Usually the housing is different for the PI vehicles even tough it looks the same. They have a special access hole to mount that side police light . Civilian headlights don't have that opening.

      It’s all in the way you order it. Most departments jump on a regional or state bid where they save money because so many are bought. They just take them the way that the bulk order is made.

      There are led emergency lights under the highbeams on this Explorer. And yes the “fog” lights are actually led warning lights as well

    Man all the people that don’t know the difference between an LED flood or strobe xD Yes, LEDs come in both, and in this instance, they are strobes. Strobe refers to the behavior of the light, not the light itself. If it flashes, it’s a strobe; if it’s steady on, it’s a flood.

      Ethan, I'm pretty sure its just for law enforcement. A few days after I filmed this video the local Charleston Police department came to pick it up.

    Yeah, our dealer was trying to get us to take a look at some PI Explorers when we bought our Sport. They were practically giving them away, but the 3.7 is pretty weak and they are very basic inside. They also have some drawbacks....features...the average person wouldn't want. The only thing I did like about them, other than the price, was the column shifter. They were willing to take $29,000 for either of them.
    Black cloth??? That would be fun to clean blood, puke and piss off of.

      Great Idea Ignacio. I'll see what I can find out about those motors as well. Maybe I can do test drive review on both types of motors in the Explorer to help with your decision. Chad

But I'm looking forward to you reviewing both types of police interceptor motors in the explorer because I'm going to end up getting one of them! Thank you so much!

    Quick question to you or anyone who owns a 2016 or newer model.. can you display Km/h on the digital middle speedometer, or any other way? I have been toying with the idea of importing one into Canada since they are almost impossible to find here right now. Thank you in advance.

    Does the 2018 still have to water pump problems?

    • @YankeeWoodcraft
      @YankeeWoodcraft 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not a problem as much as a design flaw. They were Mazda engines with the pump inside the motor. When it wasn't maintained right (i.e. coolant changes), the double seal in the pump would fail. That went all the way up to 2020 with the same design, but after 2015, Ford did something with the pumps that made them last longer.
      I have a 2015 with 150,000 miles and it's still goin' strong.
