Gotta remember that alot of stations are not going to get the ecoboost trim. It's alot of extra money, for about 30mph more top speed and better accel. Most rather get the hybrid but have the ballistic panels. Save for the highway patrol and troopers cause they get the toys

@@jamesgizasson Exactly! Idk why the halo lights are designed to be off on the interceptors. Good news is, these new 2020 explorers are even easier to recognize lol. It's a blueish white LED with a really long orange line from the running lights on the inside of each headlight. So easy to spot

Big Honda fan here, but the K20s are too damn expensive, and in the end my 3.8L 6g75 could push out 1400-1600, if my pockets were deep enough. Something those k20s struggle with. Plus, you get NO lowdown torque. I dont like having to rev the piss out of my engines to go anywhere. How about we retry that little race from a dead stop, where I'm making your peak horsepower at 3500, and keep making it for another 3 grand while you're making like 150.

I’ll be looking at them in about 5 years. Only reason I got a CVPI over a Caprice 9c3 was up front cost. Caprices are still quite a bit more expensive than Vics. Do love my Vic though.

They come for about 8-13k in decent condition. So not sure what he means by “totally off limits for all of us”

Worked at a Ford dealership that had fleet, and loved the interceptors. Amazing vehicles built to perfection for our officers. These vehicles are also amazing on winter roads

Not rare at all. Most State agencies like the Highway Patrol buy the EcoBoost models as do larger municipalities. Small Cities buy the lowest hp model due to having a no pursuit policy within city limits. So, that being said, if you get one behind you on the highway, you aren't getting away.
Yup. Stock is the cheapest and usually not much more is required. Performance modifications just wear sooner and make maintenance much more expensive.

With my old job I had the opportunity to drive an active duty Taurus police interceptor about 40 or so miles on public streets. I used to work at a repair shop and I had to take it out and it was an absolutely insane experience

A squad car I never hoped to encounter was the newer Chevy Caprice. My home town had a few, and GM was ever so nice enough to put supercharged 6.0L engines in them. I think they made something around the 550 to 600 HP, and with all the additional weight added, they could still manage around 190 top speed and 0-60 in around 3.6 seconds. Luckily they were only given to supervisors, but every car guy and street racer knew when the supervisors were bored and out patrolling.
Nah that's cap. They sell police caprices to civilians and they o ly come with like 365 horses. You have to mod them to get to like 600hp.
The Police interceptor that you need to worry about is the newer Dodge Charger with a 5.7 Hemi and all wheel drive it makes 380 HP 390 torque and with all wheel drive dos 0-60 in 5 seconds rain or shine.
Just give the cops 1000hp SUVs with side mounted mini guns that’ll keep the bad guys at bay. Just raise taxes.

The town I live just outside of just got some Dodge trucks. The state got Chevy trucks and the reservation got Ford trucks. The fire station got an expedition and Tahoe.
I love how you also don't address the fact that those interceptors are having exhaust problems where the carbon monoxide is getting into the vehicle because of the alterations made by the police departments and the manufacturers won't under the warranty because the police departments are altering the vehicles
Nah. They're covered....at least our fleet was. Same exhaust issues. All of ours were replaced (2016-17 models).
The only other issue are turbos going out. High idle times with the 2016-2017 models are causing leaks with the turbo, or some other leak, causing excessive white / blueish smoke emitting from the exhaust.

I get saving money, but sidestepping factory installed itemization and utilizing secondary manufacturers for the lighting and other safety measures - creates its own problems. For us at least.. more issues for us in the long run.
@@thecloneguyz our 16-17 fleet had the white/blue smoke issue. With the addition to the turbos faulting in that specific model year of our fleet, they related that smoke to the turbo failing / seals leaking.
My first patrol car was a 2011 Vic. I loved the heck out of that car. Once it was retired & taken out of service I was put in a 2017 Ford SUV and I could not stand it. I don't care how fast it is or how much storage space it has, it'll never be as comfortable or reliable as my old Vic. My favorite thing ever was going to a hot call in with the windows down and hearing that old 4.6 running 6 grand echoing off of the buildings around me. #gonebutneverforgotten

Stab-resistant seats and ballistic door panels as well as trunk-pack were on Crown Vic P71's as well. The Crown can also be easily repaired or continue operation after serious accidents,where the Explorer is pretty much disposable. The Explorer also takes very little driving skill,unlike the Crown,where more of the driver was involved. I'll keep my P71 as long as I can.

Well that’s with the EcoBoost engine. Most departments go with the base so my guess is they will go with the hybrid version putting out 318hp.

I know. I might be scared if my car ran more then a 6 second 0-60. The ford tauraus with the 3.5l ecoboost v6 is the fastest police car available (which weighs less then this car and has similar hp) can run a 5.6.

One thing missed in the intro telling all about the features of the interceptor, but one thing was left out.
Both FCA Law vehicles and Ford Police Interceptor units offer available "Approach sensors" that use rear park assist sensors and radar systems that alert officers in the car that a person is approaching the vehicle. The Dodge/FCA Law ones only play a chime and turn on the backup camera. But the ford ones play a chime, lock the doors, turn on the rear camera, and roll up the windows. The Dodge/FCA unit is free on all FCA Law vehicles, but I think the Ford one is an optional extra.
Thats a great feature for me, if im sitting in the driveway smokin a big fatty and my mother in law comes from behind. Lol

My Fusion EcoBoost has rpm hang in sport mode, but its slow as shit only 120mph. I want my next car to go a least 180.
Drove by a few new black State Trooper Chargers one time while traveling. One looked like a regular charger with the decals on it. The other was a Blacked our undercover. I noticed on the side of the blacked out undercover was a hidden black hellcat badge...
Regardless of horse power, torque or speed; you can’t out run the radio :)

I used to install radios, lights kits, sirens, etc into the stock cars that come in from ford, chrysler and gm. Also did school buses, ambulances, fire apparati, etc. One very cool part was always the testing phase, and the "moving it around the lot to accomodate other vehicles or for pickup" phase. Or when the officer would come by with a virgin or faulty car, and they'd either hand you the key, or you'd just use the shop's own fleet key to drive them around.
tldr: Having cops need you to drive and fix their cars is cool.

The stab plates are great and all but there should be a divider/cage separating the front and the back like usual...if anything the package with the stab plates would be a supervisor unit and they don't transport prisoners.
My only concern is that it looks like you can't really do the PIT maneuver in it, due to the wheels being so far forward and prominent. Even with a wrap-around grill. I suppose I could be wrong though.

@@globalelite3042 it's funny you say that because I work at Ford. Ive driver light cars with 200hp and heavy cars with 400hp, and 400 is way more useful. It's nothing like 200. Also 25% is fairly high.

There are 400 hp cars barely pulling 6s like the dodge magnum while cars like the subaru wrx is pulling 5s and the sti is pulling 4.5s.

I love my Taurus SHO with a gearhead tune. Same drive train more power less weight. It's egregiously fast for a 4300 lb grocery getter with massage/AC seats
