FDA has been lying to us for a long time. They've allowed excitotoxins to be added to our food supply, considering it generally safe, when in fact it isn't.
The Asian excitotoxin known as MSG (monosodium glutamate - C₅H₈NO₄Na) builds up in the body causing GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and eventually causes thyroid cancer.
Once the thyroid is compromised, metabolism becomes uncontrollable, hormone levels become unbalanced, and obesity ensues.

Well at least in the United Kingdom it is easy to eat very healthy if you so choose. I moved to the English countryside from the US some years ago now, and literally could not believe how many farm shops, butchers, fishmongers, bakeries, dairy farms etc there were within just a 15-20 minute radius of my small village! All extremely fresh and well priced. You definitely do not have to rely on supermarkets/ big stores here (which reminds me, even your supermarket food is 10x more natural and better tasting that the stuff we get in the US; much of which is filled with additives, pesticides and growth hormones)... Also, as someone that loves dairy, one of the things I love the most that you guys have over here are these “raw milk vending machines”. For just £1 you can fill yourself up a pint of fresh unpasteurized cows milk! Best tasting milk I’ve had, and you can then just take your bottle back again the next time to refill. In many states across America raw milk is actually illegal, and even in states where it’s legal, it’s sadly very hard to find.
Basically what I’m trying to say, is that if a grown man/ woman chooses to live entirely on unhealthy processed food; that is their own fault. Because it is very easy (and in fact cheaper by comparison) to eat healthy in the United Kingdom.

      @tamaracarter1836 ปีที่แล้ว +78

@@dt937 I mentioned where I live to make a point that no matter where you reside: village, town or city you have plenty of options for fresh healthy food. If people are living in poverty, then there are plenty of very affordable options from the supermarket. I mean frozen vegetables are better than nothing, and if they can afford fast food/ high processed sugar foods then they can certainly afford a few vegetables! Eating unhealthily is actually more expensive than eating healthy - this has been proved time and time again. If someone is homeless then of course it is completely understandable, but otherwise there are few exceptions. Sorry.

As a pharmacist I’m amazed that so many of the patients I talk to don’t even know type 2 diabetes is reversible. We have medical standards and guidelines that mandate people are prescribed several classes of drugs for metabolic syndrome-related diseases, but nothing requiring actual education about the illness itself. These drugs are nothing more than a tourniquet on a severed limb and are not meant as a long term solution!

Correct! I have a Brother whom i obviously care about. He is in his 50ties. Still eats like a Pig, no exercise or very little of it. He has diabetes. His foot is already showing signs of this with discolouration. Several times I tried to steer him in the right direction in adopting a whole plant base diet and more exercise. It all just goes right over the top of his head. I am 10 years older and in much better health than he is because of my life style changes in diet. As they say. You can lead one to the water but you can"t make them drink it. So? They rather die early or live a miserable life of ongoing illness that never needed to be in the first place.

My friends all had Lunchables, gushers, fruit by the foot, etc. (I’m 34). I was always the thinnest person in my classes, won all the obstacle courses and relay races, had tons of energy, got straight As. At the time, I was bummed that I didn’t get to eat all the popular 90s processed “foods” but, as an adult, I rarely crave sugar/sweets/junk food. I’m so grateful to my mom for raising me on good food. I was a middle school teacher in my 20s and always paid attention to what my kids brought for lunch; I noticed the same trend I’d seen in the 90s. The kids who brought a homemade sandwich with carrots and fresh fruit were my top earners, all in good shape, had excellent concentration. I feel for the kids who don’t have parents willing or able to provide them with a nutritious lunch every day. It really has a lasting impact.

Consider that many parents on a budget don't have a choice because they simply cannot afford anything but ultra-processed foods. Obesity rates track very closely with poverty levels. On top of that, many fruit and veggies today are less nutritious that 40 years ago (tomatoes for example have lost a whopping 50% of their nutrients). GMO Veggies and fruit grows larger today but nutrient density is reduced as a consequence.
People don't seem to realize just how much of a con the food industry has pulled, you are getting absolute trash for your money and if you want something that isn't absolutely riddled with chemicals or artificial junk you have to pay 3-5 times the cost.

I am 66, and used to be morbidly obese in the opinions of two medical doctors. I also had a fatty liver condition and several other chronic health conditions that plagued me for decades. They were all related to the obesity.
I began eating differently just over two years ago. I began an aggressive regiment of intermittent fasting by eating just one meal a day with no extra snacking at all during the day. I stopped eating all highly processed junk 'foods', avoided all forms of sugars and drastically decreased carbohydrate consumption. I began preparing my own daily meals using only real, locally produced, organic, non GMO and free range food ingredients.
In just two months i lost about 60 pounds of excess fluids and body fat without any increase in physical activity. And soon after that, all those other chronic health conditions were reversed. No more fatty liver condition, no more occasional hypertension, the edema, (swelling in the feet and lower legs) was gone, the peripheral neuropathy, (pain in feet) went away and even the symptoms of COPD subsided - no more chronic cough, no more wheezing and no more shortness of breath. And i am still a modest smoker. Imagine that.
I have keep this up for just over two years now, 'cheating' occasionally. But i am in full control of my weight and metabolic health at this point. If i ever want to shed a few pounds, i know exactly what to do. I have also increased my exercise and physical activities. I am stronger and more healthy than i was ten years ago. Even my bones and teeth are stronger, testosterone levels have improved and other things i may not be thinking of at the moment.
I owe a lot of my success to a few good doctors and others who post excellent content on TH-cam. Two of my favorites are Holistic Doctor Sten Ekberg and Dr. Eric Berg. They, and several others like them have provided advice on TH-cam that have helped millions of people worldwide just like me. If you are overweight or suffer with type 2 diabetes, check them out. My family immigrated from Vietnam so they didn't know better. They got me American processed foods to eat. My mom likes the American sweet junk foods too. She is the most sickly out of the entire family. She had everything, heart disease, diabetes and battled lymphoma cancer at one point. None of this happened to anyone in her family in Vietnam. I grew up eating my mother’s home cooking (cheaper than eating outside food). Also fast food didn’t get into my country until the year we moved to US. I moved out to be independent at 19. As a full time student with 3 or jobs I ate whatever quick and available (one job had always been waiting tables). I am very thankful I have no fast food craving. It was always the last option. In my 40/50s I chose to make my own breakfast and lunch at home to bring to work. It saved me a lot of $ and time not eating out. However I wasn’t satisfied because it’s the same food 5 days a week. I have been retired 2 years and care for my mother, I discover the joy of eating. I make our 2 meals from scratch daily using up one week’s grocery (good quality grocery). I try different recipes often. I change things up. Meal time becomes what I look for and I enjoy every bite. Eating happily is such a pleasure that I had not known for decades. Oh yes I have also been recreationally active since 40, running marathon and mountaineering. Since retiring I got into daily swimming and contemplating triathlon.

This is what I have learned about food in my lifetime:
    - Most Americans eat fast food for pleasure, not for nutrition. It's also very convenient to pick up your food at a drive-thro instead of cooking a nutritional meal
    - Unfortunately, most parents are quite content to have their children eat fast foods and drink sugar-laden soda, even from a very young age. It's so easy and convenient!
    - The Fast Food industry in America is pure evil. They have enabled the industrialization of meat, which creates over-processed hormone-laden and chemically-treated beef, pork and chicken.
    - Public Schools have capitulated to Fast Food and Soda Corporations by serving up their high carb, high sugar, devoid of nutrition foods to our children in cafeterias and thru vending machines
    - Fast Food commercials dupe Americans, especially children and teens and normalize eating for pleasure, not for health. In these commercials, they will never tell you how their meat is processed because if they did you would probably become a vegetarian! Sorry to tell you but those chicken nuggets that you love so much have been bleached in ammorita.
    - If you can train your palate and the palate of your child to enjoy an apple, a sweet carrot, a bowl of lentils, then a healthy strong body comes naturally. It's possible to eat for both pleasure and nutrition. To do so you have to train your taste buds to enjoy fruits, vegetables, healthier range-fed meats, wild caught fish, nuts and grains.
    - One final point: the cost of one fast food meal for a family of 4 is over $50. Imagine the healthy groceries you can buy instead with all the cost savings !!

Its amazing how quickly low carb/ keto can undo insulin resistence. Within a week my blood sugars stabilize and I no longer get hyper/hypo glycemic. Im also just starting to lift heavy weights to gain muscle, which is proven to massively help IR and diabetes more than cardio (which I also do a fair bit of) in lean diabetics.

I was one of eight kids and my mum was a widow. We certainly weren’t eating lots of protein. Our meals were a little bit of meat and a whole lot of spuds and veg. That was how people ate in those days when meat was a lot more expensive than it is now.

When I was a soldier, I'd eat about $30 of candy per week. This was more than a decade ago, so that's a lot more candy than $30 today! Trying to get rid of sugar was the WORST! It's much easier to get healthier if you only do baby steps. Instead of $30 per week, stick to $25 per week for a couple weeks, then $20, a d progress like that until you're between 0 and $5 per week. Just that makes a huge difference! Same applies with soda, and other bad foods. I ended up getting help and consider myself recovered as of early 2017. But a huge part of my recovery, I feel, was returning fat to my diet. I almost always chose the low fat/fat free versions of foods when I was sick in order to save calories, but it would bite me in the butt by causing me to never feel full for long and to get cravings that would trigger binges. During recovery I noticed that when I would eat whole fat foods, I didn't need to eat as much of them as the low fat alternatives to feel full, and I wouldn't crave more food shortly after eating. I eat a fairly high fat, high protein diet these days, but eating this way helps me almost never binge.

I'm 71. My whole time growing up, my mother home cooked everything. She didn't buy canned foods. She always cooked fresh grown, we had a garden. No soda. No cookies (she made her own: we ground the nuts, she rolled it out and put in the filling. And we didn't have them every day, only certain holidays) So......NO diabetes in MY family, anywhere. My husband (79) has eaten junk all his life, to this day: pies, bagels, cookies, candy, you name it, if he wants it, he buys it, like a kid in a candy store. And his dad was diabetic, and ate whatever he wanted. My husband walked as a mailman for 26yrs, and he retired 16 yrs ago. He has NO diabetes at all. Not even a fatty liver. He's a stinking perfect specimen. ME? First my thyroid was attacked by my immune system and killed it, now on thyroid. Than the pancreas went and I'm diabetic. Insulin every day. And I don't buy or eat one processed food from the grocery store! Am I watching every bite that goes in my mouth?? You better believe it. If something is in a can or wrapped in a bag, I never touch it. I don't do McDonalds nor any other fast food. There's not one can of processed food on my shelf; and I never fed my kids junk either as they grew up. I do very much appreciate the information in the video, as I continue to inform myself of how to do even better with the foods I do eat. It's on-going to say the least. And YES......there IS sugar in every package that's sold in a grocery store. Be a label reader, make better choices, and of course..........put the fork down.........

I mostly cut out sugar & cream in my coffee (and way too much coffee daily), processed foods including boxed and meats/ cheeses, and watched sodium intake. I consumed a lot of my calories in drinks! Black coffee, tea, milk, and water is all I really drink and I hardly drink milk. My mom has type 2 diabetes but keeps "cheating". She recently had part of her foot amputated and she is obese or morbidly obese. I was heading down that same path but the difference is, I chose to discipline myself and take my life back! I also have fibromyalgia and surprisingly the pain and exhaustion has plummeted with weightloss and proper eating. My mom also has fibromyalgia and it appears she blames her weight on that. Taking responsibility for our own health and disciplining ourselves is how we solve this. • @OgdenM

Note: That one doctor that mentioned Low Fat and High Sugar processed foods is very important. That Low fat yogurt you eat is almost ALWAYS high in added sugar. Even if it has no added sugar, you will want to eat MORE of it than you would if you ate full fat yogurt which is gonna lead to you eating MORE calories. The same is to be said for any low-fat food. Fat in food is one of the ways our bodies know to tell us to stop eating. And I mean natural fats, not fried foods etc etc etc.
Also, high sodium is a problem. It makes you want to eat more to wash out the insanely strong flavor of the sodium. But sadly, it's hard to get low sodium stuff that DOES NOT have sugar added instead. (Soup is a prime example of this.)
Oh, and friggen stop drinking so much of ANY kind of fruit juice! Even if it's REAL 100% juice. Your body freaks out when you intake that much sugar without any fiber, fat etc etc.
and drinking soda is just a total no no... even sugar free.
And all of this is going on well the "Body Positivity" movement is gathering more and more and more steam. I'm gay in the US and we now have events that cater to "bears" ergo, obese guys. Hundreds of guys go to one in town every few months.
It however is important to note; that just 'cause someone has a lot of body fat, doesn't mean they are unhealthy. Sure, 99% of them are. However, there are some that are VERY healthy.
I learned this first hand during a Zumba class. The instructor got to class late and was very heavy set. I I actually groaned outloud because I thought she was gonna be super slow and bumbling. Then she proceeded to start the class and pretty much beat everyone in the room with her stamina.
The fat was just a soft layer on top of an insane amount of muscle and a cardiovascular and reportorial system that probably is in sync with some major athletes. (if not better, I'm sure she could wipe the floor with a baseball player).
It is a lesson on why you can't just look at BMI to measure how healthy and at risk someone is.
But again, she is in the 1% (or less) of obese people.

I fed my body quality meats and fats, Ghee is a great source of fat and can be used in coffee and with cooking. Funny thing is my body started craving fat instead of carbs. Lost a little strength in the gym but kept muscle mass as i shed the body fat. Fasting has become a normal everyday thing for me now. My bowel movements are consistent and don't get bloated after i eat anymore.

Actually, it's not. Grains, carbs, and sugars are a problem. Meat and fat are actually good for you. I've been looking in how our body works off either sugar or fat as energy. When you lower the sugar (grains, carbs, etc.), it forces the body to use ketones as energy. Ketones are fat energy (not sugar energy). Look into ketosis.

@@michaelcho1201 → NOPE, it's the absolute truth. FAT can NEVER trigger insulin. All carbs are sugar molecules. Non-fiber starches and sugars trigger insulin (the fat storage hormone) ande will be stored as fat if not burned. Protein is in the middle - don't over do it. If you want to lose fat eat high fat and very low carbs. My wife and I began doing this 3 years ago and are much healthier, based on our annual blood results and lowered BMI. The so-called "vegetable" oils are inflammatory - think Crisco, margarine and seed oils. Unprocessed fats are benign - lard, olive, avocado, coconut, butter and so on. Here in USA they are allowed to use maltodextrin. It’s bad like sugar but they don’t have to tell you. It’s added to almost every snack flavored type foods.

I wondered why I didn't get fat or even worry about getting fat in the 40's, 50's and 60's as we ate desserts pretty regularly. So I got the best estimated recipe comparisons I could and found we ate far, far less sugar back in the day. We never used cake mixes and pies and cookies also were from scratch. In our other cooking we almost never used premixed or canned anything and we included lots of veggies and fruit as we were fortunate to live where we could grow or buy excellent seasonal fresh produce, eggs and meats. None of us liked packaged cereals or milk, which probably helped a good deal. Soda pop was strictly a measured occasional treat, poured into a modest sized drinking glass from a glass bottle which had to be returned to the store. Then in the '70's my figure started getting fat and at 78 I'm way too fat. (I hate to "O" word!.)

On the topic of sugar content in desserts, I made Cinnamon rolls that I felt were too sweet and I just needed them out of my house (im known to feel sick when eating too much of something sweet) so I sent them with my husband to share at work. One of his coworkers told my husband that he liked that the Cinnamon rolls were not too sweet. I was floored. Our tolerance for sweet builds very fast. One time I cut out all sugars for a week so I became sensitive to sweet flavors and plain almonds tasted sweet to me. It was the most fascinating thing.

I moved to the US from Europe 15 years ago. Had a hard time with desserts because they were so sweet. I remember traveling to Canada and getting a mocha with whipped cream - threw it out after the second sip.

@spirals 73 isn't it really amazing? I actually often eat a piece of lettuce (romaine) while I'm fixing a sandwich, I totally know what you mean by it being sweet. It worries me that all these hyper-palatable foods created by these large food companies which utilize food science is ruining most people's relationship to natural food. Eating them can ruin the experience of more simple foods to the point the natural foods really taste bad. It's similar to how if you have a box of chocolates it's best to eat the dark chocolate before the milk chocolate because the other way around isn't as enjoyable (if you're eating both types in one sitting).

And fast food was a rare treat back then and the portion sizes were much smaller. So over time more fast food and processed junk with added sugar, fat, and salt. All you need are an extra 50 or 100 Calories a day and each year you'll add 4 or 5 pounds. Say this starts when you are 30 by the time you're 40 you'll be entering obese territory and it will just keep getting worse unless you do something about it.

When I was a child in the 1950's we were blessed with healthy food for dinner made by my mom. Eating out was almost never. Now we don't take the time to make simple healthy meals and sit down together. Glad I was a child then.

Some industrial pollutants & pesticides are hormone disrupting like micro-plastics, that cause hormone disregulation or imbalance that make people hungry. Not getting enough sleep makes people hungry, as does chronic stress! So light & sound pollution cause obesity!

I am so glad I woke up when it came to my wieght before it was too late. November 15th 2021 I weighted in at 400lbs. I changed my eating habits. I actually eat way more food then I did before. But now I eat whole fresh foods and I workout 5 days a week today I weigh 275lbs on February 1st 2023. If you find foods you like and you understand how you got fat you can change it. I now no longer can even stand the smell of the fast foods that I loved. Now I am not at my goal but I am heading there. The biggest thing I did learn is when you stumble or things don't go great you have to access what your doing make some changes and keep chugging along. Keep your eye on the goal and don't forget why you wanted this change!

Before I quit sugar, cold turkey .. the hardest thing I've ever done .. I would go into fits of rage if I could not go get a candy bar .. literal sugar mind control. Now, not joking .. just the smell of an unwrapped candy bar makes me nauseous. I was never obese, but I was developing a bit of a loose tummy, and a bit of a saggy butt. Since quitting sugar, and canola oil, and processed foods, and making sure I don't eat anything that is not loaded with fiber.. I am in my mid 40s, 5ft 7in, and 116 lbs, no flab anywhere, lean & muscular, with MAJOR inflammation reduction. We have all been duped into ingesting death by food companies, the FDA, the government ... literally we have been being force fed early death .. and I'm one of the 'living proof'. Thank you for putting this documentary out there

Very grateful to this man for putting himself put there for us to see him go thru his journey ❤ He handles things with humor and a smile, but he is right its scary. 😮❤ It's scary that we dont see that we are one with nature, and should be living in symbiosis with nature. Instead we are overcomsuming and ruining the environment that is us. We are the environment and the environment is us.

Same thing in the medical industry. Some guy from puerto rico who had a youtube channel about nutrition and health had great advice on how to get better. Some years ago he said that pharaceutical companies are not in the business of curing you but to make you constantly take pills to "feel better" and this he quoted from a novel price winner. Last year he was talking about a releasing a book on how to prevent and possibly cure cancer and lo and behold somehow he fell off a 9 story high balcony.

I began to change my diet in April 2022 by eating a more whole foods, plant-based diet. I don't eat dairy, oils, processed foods, eggs, beef and pork. I will eat a small portion of chicken, turkey or fish, but not daily. And I eat a lot of beans, grains and fruit. Since my change, I've lost 75 pounds. No exercise.
