Thank you Gao! Yes I ended up with 2 revisions and this is the one I was going to do first but made the other one because I needed it and took less time. Take care, Gary
Thank you very much. I think this was the best use for this piece that I could have done. I thought about making segments out of it but this really shows off the burl. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you Mark. I have to say even though this came off the burl bowl I have sitting on the coffee table this one just seems to have nicer burl. But when you think about it all the burl came from the same 1" section of the piece. Thanks for watching, Gary
Hi, Gary. You know I love the burls. That is a great way to use some of the leftovers from other projects. I give some of my small, highly figured scraps to a friend that uses them for knife handles - no waste! Another fine bowl from your shop! Thanks for another excellent tutorial on ring-stacking for maximum utilization. Take care, --Paul
Thank you Paul. With all the burls you have I bet you have lots of scraps that can be used. Segments would be another good use for leftovers. Thanks for watching, Gary
Quick and simple you said? I don't agree, but you're the proven master! It was great pleasure for me following all the steps you went through and that bowl is so beautiful. Thank you. Best,
Thank you very much. I guess compared to what I have tomorrow this was pretty quick and simple. Hope you watch and enjoy it. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Take care, Gary
Thanks Chris. For sure it sometimes takes that first coat to reveal what you have. I have a feeling the piece I have in the lathe right now will do the same. At least I hope so. Take care, Gary
Thanks a million, I just picked up a nice burl but I sold my lathe. You gave me the idea of cutting a slab off and I will use the scroll saw to make a bowl with the stacking technique. Thanks for the inspiration! Paul
Thank you Paul. I see no reason why you will not be able to do that. Might take a little sanding to blend it in but that can be done. Thanks for watching, Gary
Thank you very much Susan. I have a number of videos where geometry is what makes the shape. I am currently working on another which is very exciting. It will be in a few weeks so I hope you watch for it. Thanks for watching, Gary
Gary, this is one beautiful bowl. What a great use for a gorgeous piece of burl. When I use my press, I found that by putting a wheel bearing (any autopart store) on top of the work, it is unmoved by the twisting action of the press as I tighten it. How I wish I had a piece of scrap like that!
Thank you Josh! The end of my press not only adjust to the fit but it also is free spinning so I do not need a bearing on it. So I have not twisting issues to contend with. But I could see how a bearing could be helpful if needed., I never toss anything away so these scraps will get used at some point. Thanks for watching, Gary
Hi Gary... I really love this method of making a bowl... Very little waste .. you can make a large bowl from a relatively small amount of wood and none of that laborious hollowing out... Great job and a great video as always... awesome Buffalo... Take care...All the best.....Andy
Thank you Andy. Yes it is a good way to use wood. I have been using pictures at the end from trips we have made. I have a picture of a buffalo that walked up to the side of our motorhome and then stood in front of it for a few minutes. Thanks for watching, Gary
Good evening, Gary. I missed this video somewhere along the line and found it tonight. I have several beautiful boards laying around for something special and now I know what they will be used for. The burl looks gorgeous in this bowl. Very nice.
Thank you Ray. I have 2 Walnut boards that are very old. From something I made in high school shop class so for sure they are very old. Still trying to figure out how I want to use them. Again, not surprised, great job Gary. I had seen your parting tool guide before and had thought of making one and forgot. Now that I see it again, I'll take note to make one. Excellent idea.
Thank you Damiano! I have noticed that after I first made the jig there are a lot of turners cutting the rings on the lathe instead of the bandsaw. I find it so much easier to do. If you have not seen them I have 2 videos showing how I make the ring cutting jig. I do like the second one better. Take care, Gary

Gary this is an Amazing bowl and working this way a person with little money could produce a bowl quit cheaply but still use what would be an expensive wood if using a solid blank
I enjoy woodturning myself but I'm only an amateur. I am truly amazed by your imagination and ability. You turned a beautiful masterpiece, which has inspired me. This shows me that with a little imagination you can do wonders. Thank you ever so much mate.

I love board bowls. I love to watch woodturning, but it often seems there's so much waste. It's great that this was wasn't burned!
Thank you very much. I think this was the best use for this piece that I could have done. I thought about making segments out of it but this really shows off the burl.
