I looked at the comments to see if I was the only one that was surprised that the blade didn't break when you were supporting the majority of the burl in your hands, and not an extension table in front (at least, better would be to create a 4x4' u shaped table to support larger pieces).
do you use every piece of the cutoffs? just curious. if not do you sale your cutoffs? there is a large community of small piece uses. knife blanks, grips, pen blanks all kinds of things.
That is an absolutely unique pattern inside that burl. Check twice, cut once… nah measure it till it’s correct. I like your caution with such wild grained and odd shaped wood.
So i know this is an older video but i just happened across it today out of curiosity what is it that you sprayed on the burl to get the grain to show up like that?
That band saw was giving me Sopranos 'Satriale's' flashbacks (Think Richie Aprile!). I've played guitar since I was 9, and it's so interesting seeing them actually made! Thanks Shane!! 😎👍
Haha Satriales - so many little italian meat shops back east I can't wait to get back there and buy a half pound of Gabagool and some stuffed Proscuito peppers
Will you epoxy the inclusions prior to making the final cut/slices? Seems like epoxying first would be the safer way to go, as the thinner the pieces get the less strength of the inclusion area.
Video aside which I haven't watched yet, how do you deal with so many "Social" contacts as a person with ADHD? Sorry if that's a raw question. Love what you do, Cheers.
It's very easy since I don't physically deal with anyone at all. I don't run a storefront everything's online. As for the videos and being a "public figure", To me it's just a camera and I'm talking to my future self for archival purposes.
Beautiful wood but I have to throw a flag on the way you tried to lift the wood through the bandsaw. Way to unsafe!! Respect your decision but should come with a HUGE caution to viewers.
Talk about a treasure hunt! A really interesting combination of grain.
Great video, but how about a video on making a bandsaw extension table. 😊

Super educational, thank you.
Now I know how EBMM did the buckeye burl top on my guitar.
👍
Sweet looking grain structure, Great buy on that chunk for sure.
Awesome! I've been waiting to see what was inside that burl since you bought it!
Me too!
Thanks for the video. It's snowing out in NM., And I have a couple burls I'm looking at with the weather bad out.
the focus on safety...no safety glasses
Beautiful patterns in the Maple Burl. 💚🤘👍
Giving us all the angles of slicing it up! Nice! 👍
Your dog is so cute
That turned out to be an awesome piece of wood the puppy is just to cute Have a great day and prospect on
Nice. Lots of knifehandles!

Denatured Alcohol. It wets the wood to show the grain, but does not raise the grain.
My anxiety was through the roof on the first cut 🤭😂
without a flat bottom side, your sawblade can pull and snap
I have a rather large Ash burl , what project would you recommend doing with it? Roughly 27”x27 and a 75” circumstance.
Could be literally anything your imagination (and tools) allow have fun!

It would be cool to have an online store with your guitars for sale.
Kleshguitars.com has been purchased and will be online soon 👍🎸
kleshguitars.com has been purchased, will have more information on that soon.

I've cut them to just over final thickness to allow room for sanding them after they're epoxied.
Put some Merch for the dog 🐶
I volunteer to draw Timber!
I will buy dog merch
Would you recommend kiln drying cut burls if you had access to one?
I honestly don't know, especially for really thick pieces like this. not sure if the kiln would get all the way to the middle .
SWEET!
