Fantastic. Thank you for this. Have just adopted a 9 month old lab/malinois cross, and she is the sweetest girl but - oh my gosh that bark when I don't do what she wants!.. Lots to think about here. She listens to my stern 'no' or even just a stern look when she's contemplating something like jumping on furniture, but my correction just doesn't have the same impact when it comes to barking. I think I am already getting some parts of this whole thing right haha, but I'm going to follow this advice from start to finish. My Willow is sitting quietly at my feet now and was just a calm little angel when something stressful happened in the house a moment ago, so she has been given extra treats and told even more than usual how much of a good girl she is!
My mali barks at everyone who walks past and anyone who come into my home or garden but when his out on a walk he dont care about ppl just walks past them is he just trying to protect me
My malinois is 4 month old i was able to address biting ,jumping ,loose leash, but when she is with another dog my dog just keep barking non stop (sheperd bark) in the face of other dogs but really excessively … I know she’s really into playing ruff biting maybe its a call to play or frustration or just doesn’t know how to properly interact ? Other dogs owner is getting mad at me she is the sweetest dog and never been aggressive to other dogs she often give a lick always want to meet people or other dog ! I do a lot of obedience i got an home made agility in my backyard i run with her and take obedience walk everyday so i am not worried about her exercise i do a lot of mental stimulation scent game , food earning puzzle i often use tug or her favorite toys to teach her self control she is perfect in every aspect a lovely dog i love her so much and i think she feel the same but her excessive barking at dogs is driving other owner nuts ! I am not sure what to do next i already thought her the bark and shush command and it really helped at reducing barking when playing but with dogs nothing is working
malinois lab barks at everything and anything inside the house outside , with dogs with people .. just never stops barking isnt driven by toys or food .. doesnt seem to care about anything ... i need help
I do that ahhh no barking on my walks and I make him sit down tell he stops barking and make him sit down tell he ready to leave but it’s hard when I leave him home alone cuz I can’t be there to like say hey no barking but I’m trying to give him like dog puzzle to do and like the kong toys you put like peanut butter and cheese in to distract him when I’m away so hopefully that will him and I’m also going to take him on a 1 to 2 hour walk before I go to work too.
We have a 4 month old Dutch shepherd we are training but we own a doggy daycare and have him in daycare. When we remove him from daycare into a crate he barks non stop and we don’t want to traumatized him as puppy with prongs or slip leads. What can I do for the exesive barking
My dog barks when we take out our other dog out of their kennel to play etc and I’m not sure how to redirect it. He also barks when he gets out in his kennel when he doesn’t want to be and I’m not sure how to go about that either
It's hard at first with a Mali, not being able to go out until his 2nd vaccination, only so much fetch ball an tug you can do ,all though he has learnt stay, sit,paw toilet trained at 14weeks old , I just wish we could get out an burn that energy up, this breed requires a heck of alot of time ,if you've not got time do not get one ,not fair on dog, such a huge personality, if I pick my phone up he goes off sulking 🤣
i just bought an mechelaar (aka belgian malinois) and he already has a whole story to tell, took him in at 3 months with a broken toe right backleg we got him into a spalk to make the toe heal but he has to remain calm for 6weeks we are week nr 4 now we do our best to make sure he has his excercise but along with that he has to be in the bench else he goes full turbo mode on our husky to play and we dont think our husky feels good about it neither, idk i think we need help
Thanks for watching, hopefully our video has helped with the barking! We do have another video looking at biting you might find helpful too: th-cam.com/video/T-CY2S16YJA/w-d-xo.html
A technique I learned from my uncle who has a working line Boxer which I was able to do with my working line Malinois is honing the instinct to chew on the leash into holding onto the leash without chewing which helps the dog not get it’s legs tangled in the leash while also minimizing damage to the leash since working breeds (especially working blood line) tend to just have the natural instinct to mouth even past puppyhood
Not all the time but alot and talks alot . But not sure it makes a difference. But mine are 1/2 german shepherds. And it's mostly when I come home or the male trys to get more attention
