Making a reverse room escape game then adding in the explanation that the player character is a werewolf/lycanthrope as the reason why they need to chain themselves up is really brilliant.
I feel like as P+C games it also made like... all the parts fit more than Escape games? A lot of escape-themed P+C games had a lot of Moon Logic and frustration happening imo. This makes it a much tighter experience and cohesive premise.
Protag: “I need to stop myself from escaping so that I don’t kill anyone” Manly: “but what if I *want* to kill people”

The idea of instead of escaping, you barricade yourself and make it so you can’t hurt anyone is such a rare thing but it’s beautiful
If I remember correctly, you can have bill barricade the hatch from the outside, essentially sacrificing himself before he drinks the alcohol so that he can go out as a hero.

Having played Don't Escape 4 I had a brain blast when Sidereal Plexus was mentioned
I never even knew that you could cripple the two survivors, I just had bill board up the trap door after doing everything I could then hiding.
I feel slightly...bothered by the fact that's an option.

Manly said he expected a more morbid ending when he killed Bill while he was conscious and left Father Bernard and Jeremy as bait in the whole, so I made my own ending

I remember playing those games on Kongregate growing up- I loved playing the second one because you could get an achievement for every ending type whether you were a lone wolf or if you killed them all or survived with the others. It was so fun and I can’t wait to see you play number 3! I believe there’s also a number 4 but that one you have to pay for.

One of my favorite games because it flips the script on escape room games. On top of that every game does it in a different, unique and interesting way.
It’s cool how it has the same concept of don’t escape with different settings. The werewolf one was cool but the zombie apocalypse one was actually very scary. It put you in the situation of what you’d do if there was a horde of zombies coming your way.
Werewolves are my favorite monsters, so I'm always glad to see them pop up.
Maybe Manly should play the deep sleep series before going to the 4th dont escape game

Feels like forever ago I played these on Kongregate. I remember being so excited when John Wolfe played them. I love escape games, and these were such a cool twist on the genre.
I love this series so much! I love watching your let’s plays Manly cuz you always get as many endings as you can. I never knew you could kill Jeremy and Father Bernard and use them as zombie bait. Cruel, but also cool!
really hope you play [Don't escape 4 days in a wasteland] after the trilogy , that game improved a lot on gameplay and have really good story with multiple endings
In the zombie one the car would probably shaved time off whilst travelling and possibly helped make the zombies wander off
Yes! Don't Escape. I finished the last game of the series at launch (6-8 hours of gameplay) and it was good both story and gameplay.
Ah, I've got some nostalgia for these old games. I'm glad they made their way to Steam, it's what I want for most quality flash games honestly. The second is a big step up in complexity from the first, and from what I recall the third will be the same for its predecessors.

Scriptwelder has some awesome games, I recommend A Small Talk At The Back of Beyond, and the Deep Sleep Series, as well as Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive.

Oh Manly, you glorious human being you, Script Welder is absolutely amazing. His games slap! And the Don't Escape and Deep Sleep trilogies were/are all FTP! He didn't make a paid game until within a year or so ago! 1 and 3 were pretty easy, but I had such trouble getting the badged (Kongregate) endings for 2.
Scriptwielder is one of my favourite game devs and he has 2 other don't escape games (the 4th one is several different don't escape situations with a couple different endings!) and there's also his "Deep sleep" series and my alltime favourite Antumbra a one-off flash game. I really hope to see you play more of his games in the future
Don’t Escape is honestly one of the best horror games I’ve seen, it’s amazing
I think you could've used the fuel in the car and maybe cut travel time, but I think the generator is a better use
You can and greatly decreases travel time and gives carrying capacity
Very good games but I personally liked the werewolf one better, if only because all endings had a different outcome and title. Instead the zombie one was either you survived or you died, and if you kill the friends it only says "you have survived the night" instead of "you, Jeremy and Father Bernard have survived the night".
Also I like the novelty of the "I mustn't escape in order to not hurt others", while the "I mustn't let the zombies in" is a very common trope.
Darn. Since Manly never played the game maker's older games the other Easter eggs didn't register for him. I'm just excited he played these! I love this series

if you're ever looking into old flash games again, i'd recommend vorago by godlimations. it's a point & click game pretty heavily based on steven king's the mist. it's age definitely shows, but it's short and makes for a really unnerving experience.
