oh man, so many memories. this and the submerged machine series were the first room/escape games i've ever played.
Submachine, actually. Another great series, with a lot of fan speculation to it. One of my favorites for sure, with 10 parts to boot! Not much story, however, just a lot of escaping rooms
oh man, submachine! all the comments here bringing up these old games I used to play, I was so bad at them haha. I remember the super weird atmosphere in that game, would love to see what Manly makes of it
Submachine series were awesome and quite challenging too, I think Manly-senpai would enjoy them. Btw, anybody here remember Covert Front? It´s from the same creator as Submachine (M. Skutnik).

Manly, you're really an adventurer after my own heart. Upon solving the airlock puzzle -- OK now eject! Upon finding a knife -- let's cut off some limbs for REASONS! That's exactly how I play these games. Which is also funny because often times if you can cut off a limb you need to do it in puzzle games.
The best ending is letting them know what happened and destroying yourself in the lab. When you found the crystal in space you could just do the same but that time they would learn everything with decontamination being 0%
How do you tell them what happened?
@@williamdrum9899if you plant the bomb in the lab instead of in the reactor, and explode yourself along with the crystal, the ship itself stays intact except for the lab (where the crystal is).

I guess Event Horizon is also sort of about the horrors of your own soul when you're stuck in space. Like, what you have to face when you're in a small ship for so long. What quarantine has been preparing us for.
I'm really glad you got to play the Don't Escape Series, those games are one of my favorite games I ever played, and it still looks awesome to play and watch. I really enjoyed the 4th one the most, the game has some really good story and it links sometimes with the other games in the series (As well as the other game series called Deep Sleep, which if you didn't have played it yet, I would really recommend you to take a look).

The little touches, like the sunglasses, are the best parts of these games with the "Deal with It" dialogue. I think you could also eat the ration & pancake. Great, simple, & really fun.

You are gonna love the fourth one. It’s longer than the first three combined, and it has a great story in my opinion. It also ties into another series by the same creator called the Deep Sleep. Be sure to try those games as well!

The "plants" are man made energy sources that take a form that looks like angels. They cannot survive outside this glass ball. Vash and Knives were born from one of the plants, which was unheard of

I think this one is the most aesthetically pleasing of the three. But I also just like space horror. It makes me feel claustrophobic.
It is interesting how Don´t Escape 4 takes elements from the first 3 games and makes a longer games with more than a few options available.
If Manly was ever a victim of Saw, he'd kill himself first immediately for the hell of it.
These games were really well done! I especially like how refined 3 is. I actually gasped out loud a few times with the cutscenes showing how the player character killed the crew. Damn, they were brutal. I wonder if they still work if games in some capacity?

Honestly this was probably my favorite Don't Escape. The lore and varied endings was very cool. Of course it loses some impact years after release, but it's still a really solid game.

Trigun is an awesome anime with great action, humor and music, but also a BIG share of heartwrenching moments. If you like far-west inspired settings it's pure gold.

I really enjoyed watching you play the trilogy, Manly! If you or anyone else is interested, there is a fourth full game, Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive. Though it doesn't lean into horror as much as this one, it's much longer than all these game combined and really good. Easily one of my favorite adventure games.
There's also the Deep Sleep trilogy by the same dev, it's a really cool set of horror adventure games with fantastic atmosphere. I'd recommend both!

The welding mask INSTANTLY reminded me of the 5 Days a Stranger / Trilby series by Yahtzee. The third game even takes place in space in the far flung future!

Oh, I didn't know about being able to go to the scraps of the primal sands ship, I just assumed that when the ending was that the warsaw found the other crystal it was just an unavoidable suspense ending, but apparently we can actually save humanity. i guess its because I never really played the 3rd one, at the time i was into these the last time, i was like 8 and the jumpscare type things kinda creeped me so I was basically done after the suit appeared in the airlock

When you inside in Gas Station, Break a door using axe and check a bookshelf, there is 1 book is also named "Sidereal Plexus Corp." Is it a connection between Don't escape 2 , 3, and 4?
Yup
It might be because in the end of the first playthrough of Don't Escape 4. They mentioned that Sidereal Plexus found a way to transfer people's consciousness into alternate reality versions of themselves. So maybe in the scriptwelder game universe, the games are divided among some of the infinite universes of the multiverse theory (the theory that states that there are infinite universes. Each with at least one thing that's different), assuming that there's more than one universe were Sidereal Plexus exists.

Highly recommend playing Scriptwelder(The creator of the Don't Escape games)'s Deep Sleep trilogy before playing Don't Escape 4, as there's actually a connection between the Deep Sleep trilogy and Don't Escape 4. And of course highly recommend playing Don't Escape 4(After playing through the Deep Sleep trilogy for best results of course), because imo DE4 is fantastic.

Honestly, this game doesn't make me think of it, nor of any other series. If anything, sometimes I think of this game while watching something. It's my favorite from the series by far. The second one is the one I like the least I think. Though I'm wondering if I've seen a playthrough of the fourth one or not... Can't remember now...
