To be fair, sea-based creatures probably aren't effective on land! Not to mention it's implied Lamu's been in that body for longer than these Aquarium staff who have only just transformed. Still, they'd have a real good chance no doubt.
I'm reminded of a certain Undertale fight. I never played the game, but I watched some Let's Plays of it. When Flowey revealed himself, I think my jaw dropped. It's such an effective tool for setting something off as unnatural.
Its evident that the staff became the mutant creatures and if look back at there faces you can tell which ones became what for example the ticket seller has a beauty mark under her left eye. This same beauty mark is under the left eye of the jellyfish boss.
Okay, after further checking, you're not only right. I can point out each character I think based on features. The largemouth basses Stacie means hes Brad the gaurd. The hardest one is the shark and don't hate me for this but his darker facial tone and strong attacks leads me to belive hes Seb The jellyfish is Jen the ticket seller with her smug smile and beauty mark. The optional turtle boss is actually poor Sally the staff member you met late hence why there's no blood. The line eyes of the turtle and general facial structure is one hint but also the fact it's mostly defensive. Poor girl ran into the bathroom to hide and not hurt anyone while changing into this monster and doesn't even seek out guests to kill. The final boss is demi the lazy girl. I mostly get this from the lines just under the eyes and facial structure.. Also the fact she stayed on one place while the others moved around. Hence why she's lazy That's all thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
I will say i can't help but feel sorry for the mutated employees. Makes my stomach twist thinking about how rough the transformations were, given how suddenly they happened. I do wonder if Sally realized she was transforming and locked herself in the bathroom, a last desperate attempt to protect the guests.
Even though I feel like they would totally body Lamu, he has more experience in his hybrid body than the staff do. They probably would need to outdo him in terms of wit.
To confirm your suspicion, yes! Egg yolk jellyfish do exist! Phallellphora camtschatica also known as the fried egg jellyfish; are a very large specie that exist in some of our oceans.
SPOILERS Others have pointed out which employees became which monster, but I noticed a few interesting details. Sally mutated later than the other employees, seeing as we find her in the jellyfish room. She was likely not attacked by the jellyfish as it somehow knew she was going to mutate too. The turtle was in the locked bathroom, so I wondered how she got there. What likely happened was Sally realized what was happening to her, panicked (dropping the keycard in the process), and locked herself in the bathroom so she couldn’t hurt anyone. She was described as “too kind for her own good”, after all.
Pretty sure that blue note (14:43) is also supposed to work as a way for you to figure out which boss is who. Brad is the bass, Seb is the shark, Jen is the jellyfish, Sally is the turtle and Demi is the dolphin.
I really dig the lines of text in combat like “Dolphin got its shit together!” and “Oh shit, it’s a critical hit!” That’s the kind of enthusiasm I need in my life lol. I also liked the unique combat items and move sets. Very refreshing style of game; it’s different but it works!
@@PandaPelley yeah! in the first room after the lobby (where you can see a bunch of individual fish in tanks) theres a item in the bottom left corner of the room. After that you go to the area outside of the bathrooms where mia is and interact with one of the benches at the bottom of the room. it might work with any bench but thats how I triggered the fight.
I love thinking that without the rpg mechanic, Theo and Kim saw the mutant bass, went “wtf is that!?” And then both proceeded to slap and punch the shit out of the bass while it wailed.
I honestly expected the game to have two endings, the good one where you win and the bad one where you lose. That, or just a bad ending where the final boss is unbeatable and kills you no matter what.
The turtle monster's appearance kinda reminds me of Dead Hand, but the way it moves feels much more creepier... It's as if its head has actual weight in it, but its unnatural movements makes it seem like something alive when it's not supposed to be.
I'm more surprised that a Hungry Lamu sequel decided to use the Lisa:The Painful battle system and even had one dude named Brad who looks suspiciously like Brad Armstrong.
I actually like the name for this one. Mongrel is what we usually a mixed breed dog or a 'hybrid' even. And that's whay those things are. Hybrids. Mixed breed or mixed blood animals. Well, creatures maybe. We don't really know how intelligent they are exactly. Lamu wasn't entirely dumb, he could still read and all, even if he clearly mistaken dogs and people for fruit. And dolphins are said to be insanely intelligent, so having a human-dolphin hybrid is terrifying in many ways. Even if we don't exactly know how they got there and why.
Mongrel can also be used as an insult, which makes even more sense. The man serving the snacks and drinks was the one behind all of this. He hated working at the aquarium and hated the rest of the staff for one reason or another, looking down on them. And he turned them all into mutant animals. Hence, sea mongrels.
@@M4x_P0w3r Yeah, great point. The guard at the beginning is even complaining about something being wrong with his food and feeling sick, saying '10 more minutes' (before ending his shift or a break). The lights then go out and Theo comments how they were inside for only 15 minutes, and they were supposed to close in 30. So it really seems like it was all planned for that day, and not just random incident.
Interesting that "mixed breed dog" springs to mind, because these human-faced animals seem to stem from the Japanese folklore entity called "Jinmenken" which means "dog with a human face."
i feel like Lamu just gaslit himself into thinking that the dog and people were only fruit and not actual living beings. in his cave with all the books and stuff he keeps repeating "it's just fruit" or something along those lines. he knows what he's doing but actively tries to convince himself that he's really just eating fruit.
I gotta say the music really adds to the whole experience. It not only moves in time with the creatures animations, it also represents each species Like the dolphins battle theme had these little electronic almost “squealing ” and “chattering” noises like the noises a dolphin makes. And the jellyfish’s theme just sounds perfectly like giant, floating and stinging death that’s looming over you, and floating closer. And the sharks theme is just perfect shark music, (I can’t explain it any better). the little random notes in the background also add to the creepy and unsettling mood.
One thing I noticed was that the body was only missing the head, just like how Lamu only ate the head. My guess is that the scientist was the helper of the scientist from the first game, the one who experimented in their child.
I really like how much fun the developer clearly had with the combat lines. Things like how Recovering From Confusion is " Got their Shit Together!" Or "Holy Shit! It was a Critical Hit!"

Yeah, cuz Brad was complaining about how he does NOT get along at all with today's food. And the note we found read that there is a grudge-holding scientist working here who has to "hand out snacks". At this point it doesn't take a genius to realize that he most likely poisoned the cafeteria lunch, since he ate his own lunch also far away and not in the employee cafeteria.

Usually these horror games are easy to watch, but something about these human faces on animals is really freaking me out, I think the turtle, jellyfish and dolphin were the most spine-chilling
The Manga Manly was talking about is called Jinmen. Its got some pretty intense body horror and can be fairly graphic, the story is okay, not that much depth but the art is pretty nice and the human faced animals really make for some interesting scenes. All I’ll say is look out for pandas.
Thanks for the manga name! This got me reading it, because it seemed like an interesting concept. The only thing I can say is... you really were not lying about those pandas.
I'm a bit late to the party, but I did find further proof that the employees turned into the monsters. If you look up the OSTs for this game, two of them stand out. The theme for the Hammerhead Shark is called "He Needs A Bandage", referencing when Seb asks you for a Bandage Roll. The OST for the Leatherback Seaturtle is "Bye Bye Sally", indicating that she did in fact turn into the turtle.
When Manly said "Wait, who's driving the bus?" I just imagined some pufferfish or something to be in the driver seat, smiling deviously Edit: Like, not even a mutated pufferfish (although, it's still a funny idea). Just a regular old pufferfish going ">:D" before flopping out the window
I like how debuffs were so op, it's like the game told that every actions had lingering effects and the couple learned eventually after they had had so many misunderstandings at the beginning doing things the other didn't like
I'm impressed with how they can create a solid and simple jrpg combat because most of the time this type of combat is really hard to get right, and it also reminds me a little bit of the mother series
28:25 **Spoilers?** The first enemy (large mouth bass) had a mustache, very similar to the guard that was saying something along the lines of "gotta hold out for ten more minutes".
_Genetics_ That one word was just enough lore to set the game up well: science gone wrong combined with a vague wish for revenge as motivation. That Seaturtle for me was especially creepy. The face combined with the simple animal body was scary. I really enjoyed this as well as the rpg battle mechanics.
I wonder if you'd get a different ending if you could somehow run away from each battle, the plot is that they're all transformed from eating the evil scientists' food, meaning our protagonists didn't know they were actually killing the staff- they believe that the Jellyfish monster ate the old woman, not that she WAS the Jellyfish woman- and was almost expecting a bad ending for killing them all- after all, the real big bad still got away.
23:34 as he started to collect many recovery items. I got reminded of the old meme "Lots of potions on the ground Game just autosaved Sh*it's about to go down"
Always happy to see Manly playing a RPG, love seeing him figure out the optimal plan for each fight. This being connected to Hungry Lamu makes it all the better, I'm totally down to see this developer making more nightmare animal monsters.
If I miss one week to check this channel I will have infinite videos to watch Manly we all appreciate your efforts but don't forget to get yourself some rest. Thank you for making content for us!
When Manly mentioned Jinmen I suddenly got flashbacks to the human faced elephant... I really liked reading that manga actually! Very interesting to say the least lolol
When they’re readying the slight if the loudmouth river bass, it took me 4 rewinds for my brain to process : “Oh, this is the tutorial!” I gotta give it to them, hiding a tutorial in a sea of knowledge is the most creative thing I’ve ever seen. Well done, Devs.
Girl: My boyfriend went out to search for help, I hope he's ok. I'll wait here for him. Manly: Oh look, a dead body! (Proceeds to leave the girl behind, not letting her know that her boyfriend is potentially dead.) She's still waiting for him in that restroom y'know?
yeah those creatures were definitely the aquarium staff, the bass had the same moustache as that brad guy. brad mentioned eating something that made him feel weird, i guess the mad scientist laced everybody's food with something? ...and maybe ate it themself, as i'm p sure they turned into the dolphin.
No that is the girl named Demi who gives you the Sodas, there are six employees and five monsters. Add to that we know each monsters name thanks to the name tags they wear. All except Snack shop Guy who tell's you there is nothing left and laughs before you go, he also is the only one to wear a hat and have non visible parts of his face. that could mean he took his Tag off and keeps his hat low so anyone who survived would not be able to ID him if the cops came
As a person who regularly visits the Atlanta aquarium I am sad to inform that 2 of our 4 whale sharks have died (a 3rd one has possibly died as I have recently only seen the biggest one and have not seen the second as of these last two years).
I DEFINITELY prefer this to the Lamu game. Instead of being a generic "cute-but-ooh-now-it's-scary game", it's an horror-RPG with an interesting story.
An aquarium anniversary date sounds amazing. Thooo that is coming from someone whose first date with their now fiancé was at the aquarium in animal crossing (gotta love the quarantine)
3:12 - We *do* meet the evil scientist/bad guy at the very start of the game. Notice he is the only employee without a name, just called ‘Man’. 14:13 - In the blue note where he complains that he has to serve others - it points to his job type. He names all of the other employees, making it possible to identify them and later the creatures they become. 29:22 - Lastly when you find the picture in the lockers, you can see the resemblance of the guy on the left to the employee at the start. He had mentioned his mentor and being a scientist so it puts all the pieces together if you connect all the hint/derails 🤔
The sad thing is that if you inspect the boyfriends body, he has a ring, he was going to propose, but if you go back to the girlfriend afterwards, she joins your team. Also, it would've been hilarious if there was a hidden manta-crab boss

Dropping what you are doing or literally dropping everything you are, everything you have worked to become, what you intend to become, your present and future?
why are there so many people with number sequences after their handle like @justyouraverageyoutuber161, @sirsage3311, @ruinhunter2281, and even @allmight9840
The sea turtle is the most unsettling to me i think its how it moves
Usually these horror games are easy to watch, but something about these human faces on animals is really freaking me out, I think the turtle, jellyfish and dolphin were the most spine-chilling
"That's great you have terrible taste" got me
the joy of saying “she’s DEAD” out loud at the same time as manly after kim and theo decided to go back for sally 💀
I knew a monster was coming but i still got jumpscared by the jellyfish and dropped my phone.
I do not generally comment, but Manly knowing about Jinmen is one of these rare moments where you just have to. Props to you Manly
Jinmen is also a Devilman enemy
Manly has impeccable taste in media
He's a man of taste 👌
@@redfer8029 Jinmen just means "human faced" it's fairly common in Japanese folklore, Jinmenken (Human faced dog) for example.
@@PandaPelley This explains why Jinmen has human faces in his back
The Manga Manly was talking about is called Jinmen.
Remember, if you in counter a floating shark, UPPERCUT
as an aquarium and ocean fan, this is amazing
I bet water-Pokemon are your favourite type.
@@ashlirabid9614 you got that right!
@@strawberrymilk6370 Favourite 💧 water-type Pokemon?
damn i love water bro
@roachdoggjr155 My friend do not become addicted to water!
An rpg with animated low poly models is unique to say the least.
That, and Kim looks like Kobeni, haha.
27:08 The "Egg-yolk Jellyfish got their shit together!" took me off guard
So this is why we take dolphins out of the ocean.
REALLLESTTT
I'm a bit late to the party, but I did find further proof that the employees turned into the monsters.
If you look up the OSTs for this game, two of them stand out. The theme for the Hammerhead Shark is called "He Needs A Bandage", referencing when Seb asks you for a Bandage Roll. The OST for the Leatherback Seaturtle is "Bye Bye Sally", indicating that she did in fact turn into the turtle.
When Manly said "Wait, who's driving the bus?" I just imagined some pufferfish or something to be in the driver seat, smiling deviously
Edit: Like, not even a mutated pufferfish (although, it's still a funny idea). Just a regular old pufferfish going ">:D" before flopping out the window
The glass tunnel being made of minecraft glass blocks is pretty funny
I like how debuffs were so op, it's like the game told that every actions had lingering effects and the couple learned eventually after they had had so many misunderstandings at the beginning doing things the other didn't like
I'm impressed with how they can create a solid and simple jrpg combat because most of the time this type of combat is really hard to get right, and it also reminds me a little bit of the mother series
28:25 **Spoilers?**
The first enemy (large mouth bass) had a mustache, very similar to the guard that was saying something along the lines of "gotta hold out for ten more minutes".
And the jellyfish had the same beauty mark under its eye as the ticket seller
Bro going to the aquarium as a date is like my dream outing. Sounds fun as hell lol
4:47 BRAD FROM THE HIT VIDEO GAME LISA HAS A PAIN????
_Genetics_
That one word was just enough lore to set the game up well: science gone wrong combined with a vague wish for revenge as motivation.
But the other fish will kill other humans
23:34 as he started to collect many recovery items. I got reminded of the old meme
"Lots of potions on the ground
Game just autosaved
Sh*it's about to go down"
Kim: Wow, it's mouth is huge!
Thei: Probably why it's so fat. Just like you!
Ok, so, Theo will be the first to die
Hey, Kim ain’t really of a ray of sunshine herself lol
Always happy to see Manly playing a RPG, love seeing him figure out the optimal plan for each fight. This being connected to Hungry Lamu makes it all the better, I'm totally down to see this developer making more nightmare animal monsters.
Same here.
If I miss one week to check this channel I will have infinite videos to watch
Manly we all appreciate your efforts but don't forget to get yourself some rest. Thank you for making content for us!
I never expected to see a Lisa-Like become a horror game, amazing.
It even had Brad from the Lisa games too lol
ahhh I was wondering what the character art reminded me of, thanks!
When Manly mentioned Jinmen I suddenly got flashbacks to the human faced elephant... I really liked reading that manga actually! Very interesting to say the least lolol
Wow, this snack vendor was so salty of his own job that he conducted crimes against nature and humanity just to prove himself a scientist!
When they’re readying the slight if the loudmouth river bass, it took me 4 rewinds for my brain to process : “Oh, this is the tutorial!”
I gotta give it to them, hiding a tutorial in a sea of knowledge is the most creative thing I’ve ever seen. Well done, Devs.
"a *sea* of knowledge"....
The power of shared trauma always unites people.
What does this have to do with the game?? /nm
@@lunaa143_the fact that the couple was literally traumatized by killing a bunch of mutated fish people and it repaired their relationship
@@m3g4l0s3r Oh I'm dumb sorry-
Girl: My boyfriend went out to search for help, I hope he's ok. I'll wait here for him.
Manly: Oh look, a dead body!
(Proceeds to leave the girl behind, not letting her know that her boyfriend is potentially dead.)
She's still waiting for him in that restroom y'know?
yeah those creatures were definitely the aquarium staff, the bass had the same moustache as that brad guy. brad mentioned eating something that made him feel weird, i guess the mad scientist laced everybody's food with something? ...and maybe ate it themself, as i'm p sure they turned into the dolphin.
No that is the girl named Demi who gives you the Sodas, there are six employees and five monsters. Add to that we know each monsters name thanks to the name tags they wear. All except Snack shop Guy who tell's you there is nothing left and laughs before you go, he also is the only one to wear a hat and have non visible parts of his face.
that could mean he took his Tag off and keeps his hat low so anyone who survived would not be able to ID him if the cops came
How quickly the jellyfish came fr went like
AWOOOP JuMpScArRe
speaking of the Jinmen manga, the creator of the game Kulu actually said that for hungry lamu they were inspired by it :)
This game quite obviously takes place in the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium - I recognised it as soon as they walked through the door!
This is a weird Lisa sequel. Glad to see Brad turned things around and got a job in a aquarium.
43:43 "I'm curious if they're FISHING around for..." "Or testing the WATERS for...."
Gotta love unintentional puns.
The idea of a dolphin horror game is creative, respect that at least. Also, I love your vids manly!! 💞
I mean dolphins are like the meanest sea creatures
It's not that they are the meanest, it's that they are the smartest
@@kingofpizzarolls5693 same dif, also they aren't even funny mean like octopuses (they punch fish sometimes for no reason)
@@kingofpizzarolls5693 they’re smart enough to be mean douches like us. So yeah, they’re still the meanest
Enemies had night of the consumers vibe to them :)
I found it hilarious when Manly encountered the turtle and immediately noped out of there
The sad thing is that if you inspect the boyfriends body, he has a ring, he was going to propose, but if you go back to the girlfriend afterwards, she joins your team. Also, it would've been hilarious if there was a hidden manta-crab boss
Oh that explains the shark’s mouth being bloody, neat detail
I never expected to see a Hungry Lamu sequel lmao

".... So... how you to doin'?"
Like the camera is you, standing on the train, awkwardly witnessing the argument- genius.
Yo why does the dolphin boss fight slaps so hard? This lil game has really neat soundtrack!
this is why you do your last minute anniversary date at the restaurant, not the aqauarium just before i shuts
We love you, Manly! Thank you for all the work you put into our entertainment. Your videos are always nice to watch. :)
BRAD LOOKS LIKE THE DAD FROM CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS
Perhaps the real meaning to this game was the friends we made along the way.
I love how the dolphin boss was basically doing the singing bass mount dance
oh!!!! the mom and daughter in the beginning are from the Christmas game with the Santa where you have to make him rat poison cookies!
The music is genuinely unnerving. I'm watching this late at night and had to turn it down whenever there was a fight. Pretty creepy 10/10
The shift into a different engine and style is pretty cool, very nice developer :D
I love how they shifted from Slender-Horror to Lisa-RPG.
