Yeah I agree, they should've been more honest about what they were gonna do with the girls
ngl i find it so short sighted that people think that manon only got ahead 'because she's pretty'... EVERYONE in that programme was incredibly beautiful. The reason people were drawn to manon was because she has that 'star power'/'it' factor/x factor - whatever you wanna call it. It's something about a person that surpasses beauty and no one truly understands what 'it' is. Additionally, the fact that she had no prior experience or training and wasn't as dedicated in the beginning but STILL managed to get to the level she's at now is quite a significant sign that she is talented.
People are so threatened by the reality that hard work doesn't always lead to the rewards but that's how life is unfortunately, especially when it comes to the arts industry. No one cares if you spent half your life working hard and sacrificed a lot to try and get your dream, if they don't like the result they see then that's that. e.g. I could spend a week preparing myself for a job interview and someone else could only prepare the night before but for some reason the hiring team preferred them, I'm not entitled to get the job because i spent longer preparing/worked harder, all the hiring team will see and care about is your performance in those 45mins.
I hate how racist brazilian fans were, they said Manon stole "the black girl spot" which is clearly NOT the reason. Samara didnt debut because of her racism and being a zionist
But just watch Manon's performance in Mission 1 with Buttons...her face didn't really change at all yet she still got votes.
@@user-lg6ih2gr6f mission 1 wasn't buttons that was mission 3... you can go watch the performances from the finale and you'll see an improvement in her expressions. also i'm not only talking about her improvement during dream academy but also since it ended. literally go watch any of her fancams from katseye's live shows and you'll see how much her dancing and performance in general has improved.

Get real. She’s not talented solely because she made it this far when she only made it so far because she’s considered the prettiest black girl of the bunch and it’s all about image with these companies.
They all signed up knowing that they might not debut. It’s horrible they weren’t told it would be a survival show, but they still knew that they were taking a risk by going.
they lied to some of them though the original girls they said they are going to debut in a group, but later on they kept adding members and confusing them
It was always a competition, only 6 girls were going to make the group, it was a competition from the very beginning, the show just made it that much more real to them
Well, Korean entertainment is all about that beauty. They are willing to throw talents away for a pretty face. That's why most of their artists are mediocre. But extremely popular because of..."beauty".
this is the reason bang si hyuk was so obsessed with lexie, when she didnt stand out that much or wasn't a top talent. tbh
@@mariasafron7789 That's why I don't really understand the craze for KPop, Because most of them, about 90% are mediocre. This generation in general is all about aesthetics. And the timing couldn't have been better for Kpop.
first all the girls from the show are talented. you saying manon and yoonchae didnt work hard is insulting. they both left their home countries to do this. yoonchae had been a trainee for years before so that makes no sense and while manon missed practices she still trained for almost two years and more. you also fail to recognize the privilege all the girls had by having been trained before in dancing and singing while manon was an artist and writer. she leveled the playing field enough for people not to know that she wasnt trained before so you cant call her untalented compared to girls who have been singing and dancing for years which all the other katseye members had been doing😭
also the PUBLIC voted for the group (the only member who wasnt voted in by the public was megan) and entertainment is about what the public wants to see. it is a market and a market responds to what it likes. all the trainees were talented and had their strengths.
the point of a survival show is to test marketability. the result does not diminish the other trainees but just showed who appealed to the market.
it is okay to criticize the execs for tricking them into a survival show but calling people who can outdo the average person in any “talent” category untalented is taking a too biased view of the documentary.
you can lift up the girls like adela and emily without putting other girls down because they were liked more by a test audience😭
exactly, I can understand people being upset for Emily, but she doesnt suit the rest of the girls, but Adela was the most boring irrelevant girl in the whole show, I cannot stand people being popular with friends and company thinking they deserve an easy free ride, for what? Her stage presence mediocre, singing meh, dancing meh, and no fans
Manon was lazy and it was for a profession. Is it right to be lazy about your work?
@@maisalinopreviato she a trainee, not a professional yet
@@englishblade but it is so that she will become a professional. So it is work.
I think you’ve undermined Manons star power a lot here. I do think the girls resentment towards her (especially Adela) and her constant favoritism was rightfully frustrating yes. But Manon has proved time and time again that her it factor has done AMAZING for the promotion and popularity of the group. She’s the most popular member and there’s hit tweets about her almost every week. Clearly she was needed and her star power is more than just her beauty
My only complaint was it wouldve been nice if they had more darker skinned black girls. The few black girls they had were all of mixed ancestry 😢
I don't think it's fair to say they wasted their time there. They got the training and the exposure they would not have gotten. Adela and the first girl who left released their solo projects. Emily am sure has something waiting for her. One of the Japanese girls got to debut in another group. So it's not a waste of time, rather, it's an exposure for things for things.I just wish they would have told it's a survival show
Dear Cory, Who's your bias/wrecker in the group *KATSEYE?* 😻💎💗💙♥️✨️
Manon B. 🇨🇭🇮🇹🇬🇭
Sophia L. 🇵🇭
Daniela A. 🇨🇺🇩🇪🇮🇹🇻🇪🇺🇸
Lara R. 🇮🇳🇺🇸
Megan S. 🇨🇳🇸🇬🇺🇸
Yoonchae J. 🇰🇷
I would argue what we saw in the beginning from dream academy is generally how we judge most kpop groups. Performances, tik toks, vlogs, interviews, looks, etc. For most groups we dont get a detailed documentary showing the journey.
c'mon y'all, as if you don't know how entertainment business works. everyone benefited from creating this global girl group project. First they need to build up popularity through a show that the whole world can watch. that itself is profit. Second, the ones that were eliminated got global exposure. They can use that to their own advantages. Third, all of the members that made it were predetermined to win.
Here's how:
Yoonchae - obviously they need at least one Korean member coz you know, HYBE.
Sophia - Filipinos are a sucker for fandom. The entire Philippines was under Sophia's back. certified to be a market venue for them.
Daniela - She's a Latina. a potential Latin countries' market that they can tap on to.
Megan - She has a Chinese blood. And you know what that means. Lots of people in that country
Lara - She is like the "Face of India". I mean look at her. There's also a lot of people there too. billions.
Manon - beside her visuals, y'all know what she represents. talking about diversity.
The main producer who lied and created drama for the sake of it is just toxic. Emily should have gotten more votes
Not a fan of the documentary, given how they lied at every given chance and didn’t even really give a spotlight to the actual members of Katseye (especially Yoonchae). Just to clarify, Manon and Lara were both scouted for the group (though they still had to audition according to one of their post debut interviews I believe IHeartRadio?).
While Manon made mistakes yes and has admitted to them I do also wonder what they told her about the “training program”. The whole documentary was supposed to be drama filled and salacious to get people talking and allowing certain things to go down between Manon and the other girls seems…forced in hindsight I guess. At least to me.
Honestly, the idea of throwing any of the girls (especially those who made it into the group) under the bus is baffling to me. Lara is the lowest followed on Ig which is crazy to me given how crazy talented, funny and sweet she is. I can’t help but blame the documentary for that. The girls, the group and the fandom were doing more or less fine, in my opinion, before this documentary and now everything it feels a bit splintered. Thankfully the Asia tour did well and with the Lives fans can see genuine interaction which seems to have cool things down somewhat.
Still tho HXG what the f-?!
no offence to Adela, but she was really bad in the first performance and she isnt a better singer than the other girls so she would have never made it in the group, I cant understand why everyone is acting like she was mistreated when the reality is she did bad in the original task, no its not racism because she finished 20th, other white girls did better, nobody who sees them on stage or an a random morning show going to care she was liked by her company and worked hard, only Daniela and Megan genuinely got there from their performance purely, Sophia was pushed purely for being Filipina and Lara Indian, yet Manon being pretty which is something we can all see is somehow unfair? Shes still the most talked about member and even has a filter on Tiktok before she went to the show because she captures your attention, if people love Jisoo, Irene, Yoona, Sehun for years and havent been angry, then the bandwagon hate on Manon is unfair
I think touch is a cute song but it's clearly designed to go viral on TIKTOK with the dance challenge and I don't like the fact that it's in English. :/ I'm curious about the girls but it seems HYBE was very shady with this group and how it was formed (esp. lying to them about not being a survival show). I'll stick to Blackswan.
Suit yourself they are getting attention and are going to be big😂
