I used to sell CJD too. Literally every customer has 10k in negative equity in their trade, a 400 credit score, thinks they need a Cummins diesel ram to tow their 1500lb boat or trailer, and wants the payment on said $75k truck to be $350 per month. This is not an exaggeration…

IKR!! And that truck ends up being fun for only 2 weekends a month. All other times of the month they’re trying to figure out how to make the payment.

I currently sell CDJR and that’s 50% of the clientele that walk through the door lol. I literally just finished up with someone who wanted to trade their Santa Fe (7k hooked) in for a 3500 to tow a 3,200lb 21ft travel trailer and keep her payments the same at 550/month. Credit score? 520 with a repo last year.

And you can tell that when you walk into a CJD dealer as a highly qualified buyer. My wife and I were shopping around for a Grand Cherokee and had the absolute worst experience with shady dealership tactics and high pressure sales techniques. It's like they don't know how to handle an educated buyer with a 800+ credit score that could buy the vehicle all cash if they chose to do so.

I can tell you from experience, if it's a performance car, or even just a car that CAN go fast, or is stick-shift, you can pretty much bank on that thing being beat on by the dealership before you bought it. I worked as a porter at a Lincoln dealership (2008-2012) and any time, I mean ANY time we got something cool on trade-in, we burned rubber in that thing! I nearly crashed a brand new (at the time) 2011 Mustang Cobra GT500 cause just a light tap on the throttle will get the tires spinning like no tomorrow on dry pavement! Also, just about everyone who works there are as a crooked as a coat hanger, and that's EVERY dealership.

It's more common than you think. Out of the 3 dealerships I've worked at since summer 2018, I've seen this type of stuff happen frequently at 2 of them, including the one I did sales at. It was a nissan dealership and our very first 50th anniversary edition R35 had come in, wearing Bayside Blue paint with a white stripe. We beat the piss out of it.
Even at the dealership that took themselves more seriously, there were still a few times where we beat on a for sale car. For example, we were a Subaru dealership that had just gotten our one and only WRX STI S209 (#184/209). That thing was fun to whip around turns

Your car gets abused the moment it rolls off the assembly line. I saw a comment on a thread on Reddit about a guy who did a tour of a GM factory and he said he watched the guy in charge of driving the cars off the line and out into the parking lot would slam it down into the drive the exact moment the car turned over and then floored it. Then when they got close to the parking spot they'd slam on the brakes and would throw it into park while it was still moving and you'd here the tires and trans jerking while it's trying to stop and the car would stop perfect into the spot.

My brother was a lifelong service writer at multiple dealerships, mostly the local Ford and Mercury dealerships but his longest stint was at a Chrysler store, specifically The Jeep Store. He told me a story about how a lady was test driving a Grand Cherokee, spanking new no less, and she and the salesman were in a big empty parking lot, and he was telling her about the stability control system, and told her to make some extreme back and forth steering maneuvers to witness how it the system reduces throttle and applies brakes to maintain a safe and stable attitude. Well, apparently they lost track of whether or not the button was on or off, and at a velocity of about 20 mph she managed to tip the truck onto two wheels, only to catch it band overcorrection the opposite way and put this LOADED Grand Cherokee with less than 100 miles on the odometer on its roof. All by themselves. In an empty parking lot. Tires to the sky. Crazy. Techs would routinely test drive customers cars, and one time at the Ford dealership a tech was testing a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and doing rails off a CD and managed to put this relatively new T-Bird across a drainage ditch, all four wheels hanging, each bumper on opposite sides, and he had a bloody nose and there was blow all over the interior of the car. Nice work. And on, and on, and on.

I bought an AMG and had my tracker installed prior to collection for my insurance. The morning of my collection, the tracker alerted me to someone driving my car at 72mph in a 30 zone...
Calmly attended the dealership for my collection time and casually asked who had driven my car earlier that day. The salesman stated his manager was the only insured employee there that morning and asked how I knew. I showed the salesman the trackers route plan of the journey and whereabouts the speeding offence took place.
My wife and I were then asked to move to another office where the manager walked in, admitted to 'testing' the AMGs performance to 'ensure' it was as expected... I showed him where he had sped and within a nanosecond his face changed and he began to apologise.
I still have the AMG branded fully-loaded picnic hamper, raincoat, cap, polo shirts in multiple colours, backpack, miniature car collection, key-fobs, umbrellas.

You can also do a factory order, if you're willing to wait. Just call the dealership, and they'll forward you to the person who can do it for you. My parents did a factory order for a Jeep Cherokee. I think it took a little over a month for it to arrive. Last year, I did a factory order for a Corolla hatchback, with a manual transmission. It took about three months to arrive. But that's because the car was made in Japan, so the shipping time was a lot longer. It was definitely worth the wait. The car had 2 miles on it, and I instructed the salesman to leave all the plastic wrapping on the interior and exterior, and to not wash or detail the car. Was great for peace of mind, because I knew that nobody used the car to practice stick shifting. Also, I didn't need to worry about swirl marks and scratches from an improper wash.

Tbh I bought my Porsche over other competitive vehicles from bmw or Audi particularly due to the level of the service I received at Porsche. Those guys were absolute professionals and know what good service is. They’re not abusing inventory or customer vehicles. They all appeared to be very experienced and responsible salesmen. I didn’t get that same vibe from bmw or Audi that for one weren’t nearly as polite or courteous but also a much younger staff overall who weren’t as knowledgeable with their vehicles. The Porsche salesmen showed me around various vehicles and detailed all the minute details from memory for each one and showed the various trim options and improvements. The Audi/bmw dealers weren’t awful but it was apartment they didn’t have that same level of knowledge on their products. End of the day good service may not always sell but for me it made a huge difference and I spent a bit above my budget to get into a Porsche macan gts that I totally enjoy and the people at Porsche made buying the car a very nice memorable experience. Also nice to know they’re not hot rodding my car in service trips lol. I doubt the folks who work on high end 911’s or 918’s have any interest in my little macan gts haha

I had a friend that bought a grand Cherokee SRT8 from this dealership (Based on photos in the video) and heard that they have rolled back mileage on odometers.

Loved the CJ-7 Jeep I had back in the 80's. Rolled it by accident, stop on it's hood I took off the set belt fell to the roof crawled out grabbed the side and rolled it back to all 4 wheels which was easy with a few friends as it was still on a incline almost at the bottom of hill. Once back on all 4 wheels it started right back up and I drove it out of the area & back home without a single problem other then some dings and scraps.

Lmk where this dealership is so I can stay far away from it. Sounds like a ton of children beating the shit out of other peoples vehicles

In my early 20s. I would wear a suit and show up and test drive cars. I refused to let the salesperson drive with me. I would drive the piss out of cars and tell the salesman. I don’t want it. Lol

@@crustyoldoffroader7436 It handles well but 90/60 is bending the truth a tad.
