Hectic Oil Change on my '82 XS650

💅 This oil change took some time but I did it! I had the patient guidance of my guy and his dad, so grateful for everything they have (and continue to) teach me.
⚠️ I'm learning! And by the way, this is definitely not meant to be a tutorial or how-to, thats not my style.

I took a few years off riding, but I'm back! This is my journey of trying to pick up where I left off. I'm getting comfortable on my bike again, and just as important- we're getting my bike back to the mint condition she was years ago. Let's go!!

Changing the filter on that xs650 is cumbersome! My xs1100 had one bolt for the filter cover basket. I also had a center stand which made working under it easy.

The first motorcycle I ever got paid to work on... very fond memory! It was brand new!

Yamaha changed the amount of oil that the xs650 uses from 2500CC TO 2000CC due to blowback etc, they also changed the dip sticks to reflect the change, if your oil level is just above the minimum mark on the glass, that's now sitting at the correct amount.

Sweet , Rotella oil has the Japanese motorcycle JASO MA rating, my 02 Suzuki savage LS 650 and 05 boulevard LS650 love that oil

Alittle something I do is put a piece of cardboard underneath the bike to catch any accidental spills… 😊
