Watch Sara Bareilles and Broadway Waitress Cast Sing "Opening Up" on First Day of Rehearsal

- The diner is returning to Broadway as Waitress comes into the Ethel Barrymore Theatre for a special engagement this fall. Leading the cast is composer/lyricist Sara Bareilles as Jenna, alongside a host of original cast members including Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter) and Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie). Here, on the first day of rehearsals for this new run (which begins September 2), Bareilles and the cast perform an emotional and jubilant "Opening Up."

Rehearsals are even more fun than public performance. I'm going to see her (and others) tonight perform at the Majestic Theater, at the Actors Fund Benefit that will also be the premier of Sammi Cannold's documentary "The Show Must Go On" about how Broadway's people dealt with the shutdown.

Man hearing this song and knowing Sara grew up in the middle like me, then seeing her success and the way she sings it like she’s so proud, just gives me hope.
Can't wait to see it again. Imagine how they all felt having to close down, and then the feeling of finally being back again doing what they love.
