  • This is the last video in the Miramar area and the last video of 2024, then coming in February 2025, you will see my videos back in Clairemont Mesa, Kearny Mesa, and Linda Vista neighborhoods in the city of San Diego so I can show you what changed in that area in some videos, then more fun follows after that in Santee, but that is quite a while from now.
    This is another abandoned railroad crossing deep in the industrial Miramar area of San Diego. Back about a decade ago, Miramar local freight trains used to make their way all the way over here and this was as far north as they could go, but now, no trains are needed in this area anymore, the train tracks are covered up in asphalt and concrete, and the crossing signals have permanently retired. The lights are turned away from traffic, the mechanical bells were removed, the control box is turned off, and to top it off, there are signs that say "Out of Service". Not sure when the signals will be removed. When the crossing signals were in service, there were never crossing gates here.
