I feel the need to explain a bit. Some say, " Why a psyker!? Khorne hates psykers!" True but it doesn't mean his demons wouldn't use one. Apparently there is a demon possessing Kyras as when you play IG Adrastia comments that Kyras is not alone in his mind. This could mean the same demon that Gabriel Angelos unleashed from the Maledictum possessed Kyras at some point since he was in Chaos' pocket. All that has happened here was to fulfill what the demon promised Gabriel in DoW1.
There have been many good and great speeches in this series. Both by good and evil, And by every faction. And only once can I think of any speech other then this that truly set the mood for what you were going up against. Syndri's final words. "Bear witness to my Ascension!" Simple but very effective. But this. This is simply. Glorious. The way he screams "Let the galaxy BURN!!!" and then everything goes silent. THAT, is how you set the mood for a final boss.
Kyras here exemplifies a self-awareness of chaos, it destroys all it touches, and it has no purpose in its actions. That is part of why chaos is stuck in the status quo, it is fickle, disorganized, by its own nature it is a task for it accomplish a purpose.
Should of been Tzeentch this guy is textbook Tzeentch. Manipulative, check, master psycher, check. Why does the developers have such a hard on for Khorne even when it would make sense for a would be sorcerer to follow the god of sorcery.
Tzeentch's temptations are all about purpose and planning. It seems like Kyras was completely tired of the endless duty and obligation that he had while he was a chapter master. What he wanted, Khorne offered: no plans, no duties, no crushing and endless responsibility: just a singular, simple urge and a mind filled with nothing but the rush of fulfilling it again and again and again.

@thestupidarsebeagle Tarkus reveals himself to be the Ancient after Diomedes practically gives up all hope and orders his squad to hold position in the Judgement of Carrion. Thaddius is in the game as one of the squads sergeants.. The force commander is probably doing something similiar to what Tarkus was trying to do with his vow of silence. He is probably good still because there is a hammer you can get that refers to him. And Avitus is the one who betrays you in Chaos Rising.
I wish the Ultramarines made another appearance. I would even appreciate if they showed up like they did in DoW1. Ultramarines being my favorite chapter ;p
I am ILLUMINATED. But my girlfriend just got her monthly - And when I scream Blood for the Blood God for her appraisingly- she looks strange. I think she is not with Us. But she got a nice skull. )
@urgardista Sorry, but the IG campaign counters that. There's a point where Adrastia blatantly says "I felt Kyras. He...is NOT alone." Which, considering they keep mentioning the daemon from DoW1, it's not hard to put two and two together.
Mocking the Imperium still means mocking Chaos even if its inadvertent since pointing the Imperium's flaws simply make Chaos followers look worse for not being able to beat it.
@HellFox83 Also, the thing Khorne hates about psykers and sorcerors is the fact that they prefer not to fight in direct combat. He sees them as cowards for their use of special powers rather than wanton bloodshed. If a psyker like Kyras forgoes the use of these powers in favour of the aforementioned bloodshed then Khorne has no problem with that.
As hellfox stated, Kyras was chosen because that daemon Gabriel released from the maledictum had a bone to pick with him. What better way to do it than make their chief librarian and newly promoted chapter master turn on them. Its a serious blow to morale. Besides, he just offered Khorne a planet full of skulls. And he made the Inquisition do it. So yeah he more than deserves it.

Probably Ulkair made him not a little bit insane but he remained Himself this is why he could choose an another path-Khorne- to follow just like Horus he is not misguided, he made a choice. Yes, kyras may be a khorne follower and a Psyker, but khorne hates all PRACTIONERS of sorcery. it be that kyras keeps his pysker powers in check, not using them outwardly but using them inwardlly, to make himself stronger or maybe not using them at all, so Khorne doesnt care about it and favours him anyway (which kyras would need khorne to do, as to become a daemon prince you need the favour of the god you serve.)

Kyras did that speech very well. The last part was especially well done and unnerving.
Well, actually the horror squad was his. If you point the mouse on them in dow 1 they has a name like Horrors of Tzeentch or something like that.
This speech alone was worth the price for DoW2 Retribution.
