It's not THAT unreasonable. Kyras may be a Psyker, but he also successfully sacrificed an entire system to Khorne. It figures that you can overcome Khorne's hatred of Sorcery by using enough tactical Rip and Tear.
The point is that Kyras himself did very little bloddshedding and skullcollecting, he tricked others into doing it for him. Khorne would never accept such a Tzeentchian weakling as his champion.
ZhengIsRight Taking credit for kills you indirectly caused is literally Chaos's standard operating procedure. Tons of warlords stir up trouble between other factions and offer up the souls of the fallen to their gods, whether or not they themselves participated. It doesn't matter who kills who, after all, all that matters is that blood is shed on tainted ground, with favor going to those who laid the taint. Who cares if Kyras didn't perform the Exterminatus himself, the souls of all those killed by it go to Khorne entirely thanks to him, so he gets credit for them.
Maybe for other Chaos worshipers, but not for those following Khorne. You worship Khorne not with hymns and temples, you worship him by shedding the blood of worthy enemies in his name with your own hands. Using trickery and deceit or making others do it for you is absolute anathema for Khorne, he's the most straightforward and honest of the Dark Gods and its personal courage and martial prowess he rewards. Kyras is exceptionally Tzeentchian. Tzeentch is all about boundless ambition and using everything in your power to achieve your goals. Throwing an entire sub-sector into turmoil just so you can become a daemon yourself without having to even kill or wound a single person yourself would make the Great Schemer proud. BUT NOT KHORNE! GODDAMIT!
ZhengIsRight I suppose, when it comes down to it, the motivations. It's the final word of which god you serve, the motivations behind it. For example, a supersoldier who fights to be the very best soldier they can be would go to Slaanesh, while one who fights to kill the enemy goes to Khorne. If Kyras orchestrated the Exterminatus of the Sector to prove how much smarter he was, then he'd be Tzeentchian. If he orchestrated the Exterminatus because that was the course of action that caused the most death and suffering, then it'd gain the most favor with Khorne. Keep in mind, of coruse, that souls are souls, and even if the souls sent to Khorne were gained in opposition to his usual methods, you can still gain favor by sending a metric fuck-ton of souls, overcoming your questionable methods through sheer volume of sacrifices.
I think chaos was the best race in retribution, in gameplay experience terms. So many wicked crazy abilities - zombies, berserking enemy and doppelganger. Fun times.
Maybe because it's one of the most important planets of the Imperium that also produces fuck-ton of Chimera's for All Imperial Guard Regiments accros the Galaxy?
So the reason is because of the simple fact that it now cause orks on mass to go there and fight turning it into a war zone. Some clever people realize that they could keep orks on this planet were they are less likely to cause major damage. So the planet is use as a war zone and not a factory nowadays.
"Who is this fool? Who dares interrupt my campaign of terror?" Oh Eliphias you so silly; you forgot who Kyras was :) All jokes aside I just thought the two would've at least spoken at one point since apparently Kyras introduced Avitus (The canon traitor) to Elphias :P
No problem. If you play as the Blood Ravens; ultimately who the traitor was is disclosed further down. Avitus is not referred to by name but it is heavily implied he was the traitor particularly when Kronus is mentioned :)
Damocles178 Yeah, I finished the game yesterday night. The beginning was pretty confusing since I (like a true faithful servant of the Lord Emperor) didn't corrupt anyone at all and I got Martellus as a traitor.
Yeah in some ways it's a pity that Retribution wasn't affected by your actions in Chaos Rising but I guess it would get far too complicated with the amount of possibilities in the follow up . If I recall correctly in Chaos Rising it was actually possible to kill Diomedes instead of sparing him. It would be fun to see how Retribition would've played out if it recognised that Diomedes had been slain in Chaos Rising :)
Maybe this was a rethorical question. "You are so insignificant that I even pretend that i forgot who you are" approach fits Eliphas' snarky personality rather well.
Losing the war for the planet. Being torn to shreds by a demon. and having said demon bargain your soul away to the Warmaster of Chaos to essentially be a slave would do that to you lol
The part that always gets me is that this world is dying. Everyone on this world will die no matter what. And yet, they still fight. They die fighting. They don't just stand there and accept it. They die standing. That's 40K.
Word Bearers, Eliphas was the Chaos Lord in charge of the Dark Crusade, carried out by the Word Bearers, not the Alpha Legion (that was either Lord "SINDRIIIII" Bale or Firaveus "METAL BAWKSES" Carron).
Good point I didn't actually realize how similar they sounded when I played this. It's amazing what I don't notice when I'm actually playing the game. When watching a video I find because there's less to focus on; it's easier to notice things :)
They're declaring Exterminatus on the planet: the entire world been judged irredeemably corrupted by the Ruinous Powers, so all life is to be purged. Doubtless, some souls remain below who are yet true to the Emperor, but they will die with the guilty in the coming bombardment. But the Emperor knows who his faithful are, and he will save their souls from the clutches of the warp. It's similar to the famous quote from Inquistor Amalric during the Albigensian Crusade in the 13th century: "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius." ('Kill them all, for the Lord knoweth them that are his.')
+Marco Boscarol Many Inquisitors also think that they themselves are damned, for destroying entire worlds, but consider it a price they are willing to pay.
Somewhere in the patch notes probably. Sigh. It's all so tedious and cyclical. Flavour of the month etc. Wait around long enough and you'll eventually read exactly the same BS in the latest patch notes. So yeah.
I'm pretty sure Kyras isn't a khornate champion. He's some kind of daemon. Gabe says he "set in motion with a single blow from my hammer, god splitter" Numerous references in DOW2 Chaos Rising imply that those above the Judgement of Carion were attacked by daemonic forces and psychically weakened. Gordion was outright possesed before he left. Also why would the cultists call Kyras "ascendant" if he was trying to BECOME a daemon prince and wasn't one already? He's a daemon host not a Khornate champion. Maybe he willingly let himself be posssed maybe not.
@Cocarat206 Eliphas is a good character though they need to get the Dark Crusade Elipha's voice actor and whoever wrote his one liners because they were damn good.
Whys eliphas still calling this dude who has weird warp cloud surrounding him, has a distorted voice and also, was an ally in chaos rising, a loyalist?? 😂😂🤦🏾♂️
*kills billions
"The emperor protects"...
Small losses really compared to the losses of keeping chaos tainted worlds around
The emperor protects their souls.
Eliphas : Araghast open the portal!!!
Araghast: Yeah alright :3
Darkraidalek hehehhhehehehe
Kyras is a psyker and uses primarily guile and trickery to achieve his goals...so he's of course totally a Khornate champion! Goddamit, Relic!

Eliphas: "The Blood Ravens are weak, as are the rest of you Loyalists!"
(Davian Thule laughing just out of camera)
Eliphas: "Shut it you!"
I think chaos was the best race in retribution, in gameplay experience terms. So many wicked crazy abilities - zombies, berserking enemy and doppelganger. Fun times.
Eliphas was a rape machine in this game.
Nah orks they get a hat
I quite liked using the gitfinda ta find da panzees
The eternal war ends for you this day!
Kyras: The unrelenting war in the s sector will cause an Exterminatus.
Eliphas: So why hasn't Armageddon gotten one....?
Kyras: Uh....good point..
Maybe because it's one of the most important planets of the Imperium that also produces fuck-ton of Chimera's for All Imperial Guard Regiments accros the Galaxy?
Not to mention, it has not seen a Chaos invasion since the first war!
So the reason is because of the simple fact that it now cause orks on mass to go there and fight turning it into a war zone. Some clever people realize that they could keep orks on this planet were they are less likely to cause major damage. So the planet is use as a war zone and not a factory nowadays.
Damn, Eliphas' pre-asskicking one-liner before he took to curbstomping that Chaos Champion was awesome. One of the best lines in Dawn of War, easily.
Thanks for the comment, I was wondering who the canon traitor was... they didn't do much to explain what's going on at the beginning of retribution.
No problem. If you play as the Blood Ravens; ultimately who the traitor was is disclosed further down. Avitus is not referred to by name but it is heavily implied he was the traitor particularly when Kronus is mentioned :)

Wow eliphas is so ANGRY!! What happend to the calm cool headed Chaos lord of Kronus?
Macwylee
I thought the same thing
Death. Rebirth. Being on Abaddon's leash.
Losing the war for the planet. Being torn to shreds by a demon. and having said demon bargain your soul away to the Warmaster of Chaos to essentially be a slave would do that to you lol
That was just Gabriel Angelos wearing a helmet.
And the voice.
Kyras is so much better than Eliphas in this series.
Eliphas would have verbally demolished him in his Dark Crusade Word Bearer days
The part that always gets me is that this world is dying. Everyone on this world will die no matter what. And yet, they still fight. They die fighting. They don't just stand there and accept it. They die standing.
That's 40K.
Eliphas, open a portal ^_^
Hmmm... No, I think not.
Exterminatus must be something like Amazon delivery to Khorne lol
... uh...
If Eliphas originally was Kyras' ally in Chaos Rising, why did he think he was a loyalist?
And he was already told he was chaos marine at the start of the campaign
The Eternal War end for you this day!
Me: So that was badass
CSM:There is somenthing about your voice...
Eliphas:Yours too!
It's weird even for chaos that it was Kyras who introduced Avitus to Eliphas, yet now they can't get along that badly.
dude have you SEEN what chaos does in a hourly basis? the one's more back stabby than them are the orks
(e.g. Kharn the BETRAYER)

Kyras is the best videogame villain since...Sarevok?
Neroth must be pissed that Kyras tricked him
Elphist beater be in chaos dlc Warhammer 3 (we all know chaos going show up with there owen camping)
I wish they had Sindri as the main character instead of 'Eliphas'.
Can someone please explains whats the frase May imperial justice account in all balance means?

Interesting thanks
+Marco Boscarol Many Inquisitors also think that they themselves are damned, for destroying entire worlds, but consider it a price they are willing to pay.
That is a very important factor in the split of radical and conservative inquisitors.
Somewhere in the patch notes probably. Sigh. It's all so tedious and cyclical.

He willingly fused with the daemon of tartarus from the first dawn of war that Gabriel accidentally released.
No coward has ever remained hidden from the Black Legion! Look at me! They found me as soon as I became a wuss!
The Emperor protects.
Kyras is the new Sindri
Noob Question. What happens when you fail a mission in the Campaign? I haven't yet tried it on Retribution.
@Cocarat206 Eliphas is a good character though they need to get the Dark Crusade Elipha's voice actor and whoever wrote his one liners because they were damn good.
They were Alpha legion, Failbaddon told him to do it cuz he ressed him.
If only Kyras was voiced by Tony Jay...
They are probably saying well crapppppp
so why is elpihas want to kill kyras
This is so non-canon it hurts.
Awesome.
Whys eliphas still calling this dude who has weird warp cloud surrounding him, has a distorted voice and also, was an ally in chaos rising, a loyalist?? 😂😂🤦🏾♂️
ITS SPIKE SPIEGEL OMG AAAHHHH
3:41 - EPIC!!!!
*The eternal war ends for you this day!*
