    Thanks a lot for helping me set up this system. I've got it running with MT32pi and it's amazing. Certainly one of those legendary/obscure (in the west) systems I never thought I'd be able to properly experience! Perfect - this is pretty much what I was hoping for when I asked for more PC core videos!
    Any idea what the Load/Save to SRAM to SD card does - that's how you would save games without losing the save game data, correct?
    Also, when you select Load SDRAM it, does it load only the data for the specific game you've currently loaded or ALL X68K SDRAM contents saved to the SD card?

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Absolutely brilliant, eventho they need to add some sort of virtual keyboard overlay that you can prompt only when needed so you can easily select options without a real keyboard (that's what Amiga and C64 emulators do on retropie and the likes and it works great. I used an X68000 emulator on Windows back in the late 2000s and it was indeed only partially translated from Japanese, no command line required but still a lot of tinkering. But it was worth it, I got to experience Cho Ren Sha 68K which to me is a perfect shmup gem. These doujin games appeal a lot to me because of their exclusivity, more than the perfect arcade ports. I mean, I see little point these days in ports if I can easily play the arcade version that was so out of reach back in the day. The only real appeal of ports, unless they offer something more or different, would be in their collectability but X68000 prices are insane as we know.

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Final fight crashes when I select mt32 module at the character select screen?
    Granada X doesn’t come up with an option to change the sound even though it’s listed to support mt32?

      Some things will still crash. Some games that support midi support it “in secret”, as in you have to hold a certain key down at boot to get it to happen. Google the name of the game and “x68000 midi” and you’ll find out how :) it’s diff on each game that doesn’t just give me an automatic menu

    I have followed the MT-32 Pi setup video now, and this one, but cannot get it working.
    Got latest, same, .rbf file [X86000_20211214.rbf]
    And I do not get the MT-32 setting inside the X68000 core's OSD menu.
    I have a suspicion it's due to the warning shown on my hat's OLED which reads;
    *Low Voltage: chk psu*
    I'm using the short USB which came with the MT-32 and it's connected to the correct port, the user port.
    The PSU I'm using is the one I ordered with my MiSTer;
    Output 5v 4a
    Due to that message warning on my MT-32 I'm suspecting the reason I'm not seeing MT-32 options in the core's menu is due to power rather than my configuration.
    Would that PSU be enough for the sandwich D10 nano, usb hub board and IO board... as well as the Pi3a and MT-32?
    Anyone know a resolution?

      @@VideoGameEsoterica I admittedly missed that when setting up... but had found another webpage when searching that error and had added that line to to the config.txt but I had a line space between that and the [pi3] so just changed that, so was as in your screen.
      But I still get the chk psu warning on the OLED.
      I'm not using vHDD I'm only loading the floppy disk versions but that won't be relevant to the MT-32 OSD menu not being present.
      Just another though though. I am running my hook up;
      MiSTer sandwich boards all via the 5v PSU, and my monitor, both into an extention lead adapter which then plugs into the wall mains.
      I wonder if going via that extension lead is causing not enough power?
      I'll try moving my setup to another part of room where monitor and MiSTer can have direct plug into the wall... see if that makes a difference.
      Will be tomorrow now as 12:30 and I got work in 6 hours, I should get some sleep
      Thanks for the help and pointers, as always 👍

      @@VideoGameEsoterica It seems there is no mapping for this key in the core currently, but the workaround is to use the BIOS / software keyboard: Right-click with a connected mouse immediately when the game starts loading to display the on-screen keyboard, then click on / hold the key to the left of 'help'. There's a limited window to do it, but it works reliably.

      Btw, this will work for some other Wolf Team titles also- Granada, Arcus Odyssey and FZ Senki Axis (With that one, it loads differently, so press / hold the software key and keep the mouse button pressed even after the osd keyboard disappears for it to register it) .

    Hi, thanks a lot for the video, help me for launching games. But how could yo start a game with three .d88 files ? Phalanx for example, I have this : Phalanx (1991)(Zoom)(Disk 1 of 3)(System), Phalanx (1991)(Zoom)(Disk 2 of 3)(Data) and Phalanx (1991)(Zoom)(Disk 3 of 3)(Opening). Best regards

    • @VideoGameEsoterica
      @VideoGameEsoterica  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to Google how to load it. Every game that came on more than two discs does something different. Sometimes disc 1 is actually disc one...other times it has a different boot order. It’s game dependent

    I was just messing with this core couple nights ago! What wonderful timing :D
    I was only about to get .HDF files to boot games, the .d88s wouldn't boot until I loaded up a valid .HDF, then unloaded it and booted the .d88. it's really cryptic. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

      The thing is sometimes you have to wait minutes for them to load. It’ll seem like it’s not working...till it is. Because it replicates the behavior of real hardware you’ve gotta wait for the data to stream in from the floppy files
