The usual processing time for a sponsor license application is 8 weeks. This means you can expect a decision within 8 weeks from the date your application is submitted and accepted as complete. The Home Office offers a priority processing service for an additional fee of £536 (as of February 21, 2024). This service aims to get you a decision within 10 working days.
Very informative video. Please answer the following queations: 1. what is the minimum time since the business is registered in uk before we can apply for sponsor licence. Can i apply for a sponcer licence as soon as one month after registering my business in uk? 2. I have started a software house and need to sponcer a graphic designer. The problem is i dont have a physical office, but our tream work remotely, does this allow me to apply for sponcer licence?
There is no specific minimum time requirement for how long your business must be registered before you can apply for a sponsor licence. You can apply as soon as your business is registered, even if it has only been a month. You can still apply for a sponsor licence even if your team works remotely and you do not have a physical office. The key requirements are that your business is genuine, operating legally in the UK, and capable of fulfilling your sponsorship duties. You should watch these videos, so you know how to apply yourself. th-cam.com/play/PLaEXjN0o8v2rmjDVh371k5GDylwSbG_gL.html
Thank you so much for all that you do. You are an amazing person. My question is in regards to your the HR system you mentioned in your “How to apply for sponsor license in Uk” please can you shed more light on what is meant by this and is there a template or recommended package provider.
What the UKVI looks for in an HR System Record-keeping: Secure storage of employee details, contracts, right to work checks, and visa documents. Resident Labour Market Testing (RLMT): Evidence you've advertised the role and no suitable settled worker was found. Preventing illegal working: Processes to ensure sponsored workers only work for your company and within their visa limitations. Reporting: Timely reporting of changes in employment status, absences, or visa renewals to UKVI. Fulfilling these requirements doesn't require a specific HR software package. You can achieve this with a well-organized paper-based system or use HR software with features that support sponsor management.
Sir, thank you so much for a detailed and straightforward video. Can the authorising office be the same person as the director who is on a graduate visa now? Because I read somewhere and one of the solicitors said that the authorising officer must be on a UK settled visa/ILR or citizen. Can you please confirm the clarity on this point? 😊
Yes, Solicitor is right. To keep things simple, make someone British National or ILR person AO. Watch these videos in which I have Answered questions like these. th-cam.com/video/xhDvKNMdFJs/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/N4s3pcFLB64/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Ldp8GO1gHJM/w-d-xo.html
Hi thank you for informational video Could you please make a clarity on the answer for below question Is your organization currently employing migrant worker. Is graduate visa holder considered as migrant worker
Very good question, this will benefit all. As per Home Office definition for Migrant Worker : "A migrant worker is someone who comes to a country to work, typically for a limited period." And someone on graduate visa fulfils this definition. So you will answer Yes to it. Watch this video, in which I have answered questions on this topic th-cam.com/video/N4s3pcFLB64/w-d-xo.html
Hello Dr Khan.. great informative video about sponsorship licenses i have seen so far. I just wanted to ask you if VAT registration for the company is compulsory for the application?
No, VAT registration is not compulsory for obtaining a sponsorship license. VAT Rule is : Businesses have to register for VAT if their VAT taxable turnover is more than £90,000. They can also choose to register if their turnover is less than £90,000. Since, you asked this question. I will say pls watch these 2 videos for guidance th-cam.com/video/eDiTPAuE830/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/xhDvKNMdFJs/w-d-xo.html

@@UKknowledgeGuru sorry for the follow up questions, 1. Hence. Getting lease for that address is not possible. 2. Is it okay to mention my name as one of the Director's with some shares though planning to take self sponsorship for myself?
Very informative video! I wonder where to send the supporting documents? After payment, will there be an instruction on which UKVI email address should be used to send the supporting documents?
You will get the email address as soon you submit your application. There is a guidance from the Home Office regarding the Most Important Documents you need to submit th-cam.com/video/Dr-Ft6PIW0w/w-d-xo.html. And there is a 66 pages Home Office guidance on which the Visa Officer decides to issue the sponsor licence or refuse th-cam.com/video/gqWUdcSeR5o/w-d-xo.html. The guidance page 6 says "You should read all parts of the guidance to ensure that you understand your duties and responsibilities as a licensed sponsor."
Great video and just a question, should the comapny be registered with HMRC as an Limited company to get a sponser licence or it can also be under a sole trader company?
To get a sponsor licence, a company must be registered with HMRC as an Limited company. This is because a sole trader company is not considered to be a separate legal entity from the individual owner. As a result, the UK government cannot be sure that the individual owner will have the resources to support a sponsored worker if the company were to fail. In addition, sole trader companies are not subject to the same financial reporting requirements as limited companies. This makes it more difficult for UKVI to assess the financial viability of a sole trader company. Before you apply do check the Home Office guidance for the Most Important Documents you need for Sponsor Licence th-cam.com/video/Dr-Ft6PIW0w/w-d-xo.html AND 66 pages Guidance which Visa Officer use to approve or refuse the Licence th-cam.com/video/gqWUdcSeR5o/w-d-xo.html

Great video... God bless u. If the restaurant business is in loss for a year. And we need skilled workers to get it in profit then can we apply for a sponsor license? We have a corporate bank account in Tide. It's not a registered bank. Will 12 month statement of TIDE good for application? Or we need a high street bank ? We have submitted signed accounts last year as well. We have a three start Rankin from score on the Door. Are we good ?
While a loss for a year isn't ideal, it doesn't automatically disqualify you. However, the UK Vis and Immigration (UKVI) will assess your financial viability. Having a clear plan demonstrating how the skilled worker will contribute to profitability is crucial. Show projections and strategies to improve the business. The UKVI prefers statements from a reputable high-street bank. While Tide statements might be accepted, consult an immigration lawyer to confirm its validity for your application. Signed accounts from a registered accountant can strengthen your case.
This is amazing. Very detailed. Im in the middle of setting up a recruitment agency for healthcare. Will it be challenging to apply for this licence as i haven't started trading?
No, it won't be difficult if your business is genuine. But just for your info, Home Office guidance clearly says Recruitment company can only sponsor staff for its own company not for other companies. Here is the complete Home Office guide on this topic, I know its long 66 pages but worth it and its most important part to know. th-cam.com/video/gqWUdcSeR5o/w-d-xo.html

Hi, Two quick question please 1)Do we need to add British national as a company director and/or authorizing officer for a company who is applying for a sponsor license 2) Can we add British national brother or sister as our company director/ Authorizing Officer
Adding a British national as a company director and/or authorizing officer is not mandatory for a company applying for a sponsor licence. However, there are some potential benefits to doing so: Easier application process: Having a British national director or authorizing officer may streamline the application process, as it demonstrates a connection to the UK and potentially reduces concerns about genuine sponsorship intentions. Compliance with sponsor duties: British nationals may be more familiar with UK immigration regulations and sponsor duties, making them potentially better suited to fulfilling these responsibilities. Adding a British national brother or sister as a company director or authorizing officer is generally not recommended. While it's technically possible, there are potential concerns about conflicts of interest and genuine sponsorship practices
If you apply sponsor licence and you doing the business genuine, then its a simple straight forward case. Just follow the video and apply. Best of Luck
My LTD company name and trade name is different. Hygiene rating in scores on the doors is on trade name. In this case what document to submit to prove this is my hygiene rating or where to mention in the application regarding this please? Thanks in advance.
You're right, there are additional considerations when your company has a different Limited Company Name (LTD name) and a trading name (the name on the hygiene rating). You'll need to submit both your Certificate of Incorporation (proving your LTD company name) and a document linking your LTD company to the trading name with the hygiene rating. Notice of Business Activity (NOBA) from HMRC: This document usually shows both your LTD company name and your trading name. Letter from a reputable source: If you don't have a NOBA, a letter from your local authority or a bank statement showing both names would work.
i am currently hold PSW dependent and own company from last 4 years and trading from march 2021 with yearly turnover approx. £120k -150K , should i eligible to apply sponsorship license ?
Great Video , In your experience what is the acceptance percentage for a completly new company. Started and owned by the same person that will be sponsored from outside the UK ? Given that for sure there is a UK citizen auothrised manager , and the steps you recommended is all done .
Firstly, you need to understand this that you can't apply for the sponsor lic for a new company from outside the UK, even if you appoint key person a British Citizen as in this route you can't self sponsor yourself. There is a route which is known as UK Expansion Worker Visa, in which you get the visa that allow you to come to the UK to expand your company in the UK and then you apply sponsor lic (via Key Authorised person who is British Citizen) and issue your CoS. Here is the complete guide th-cam.com/video/Tz4L65BD4Ro/w-d-xo.html Another option is UK Innovator Founder Visa route th-cam.com/video/dOHFGi5qrhE/w-d-xo.html You need a New Business Idea and this is the quickest route to get the Settlement in the UK.
Not everyone, as register updates every week and add 100s of companies and shows a delay but its moving on. High number of applications came in recently cuz of the new rules and everyone was jumping on the same boat. But soon once the threshold increases it will drop 60% in number of COS issues. Or I should say we will see massive decline in all this category. Hope for the best...
Hello Sir. Thanks for sharing this information and I hope it's still valid at the time of this comment. I have questions and one of it is been asked my another commenter but he's yet to get an answer. My team recently incorporated our company in the UK. We are 3 founders and 1 of us is a Brit and a London resident and the rest of us are non UK resident. The issue now is that, the Brit among us wants the rest of us to be physically active in the business operations bcos our remote commitment isn't doing justice to our partnership. 1. How do we go about relocation. Can our third founder who is a UK citizen and resident serve the purpose of all the necessary role that requires hiring a Brit company staff? 2. How old should our company be before we'd be eligible for the self sponsor route (I learned there's nothing like self sponsorship visa, that it's a route that combines "sponsor license and skilled worker visa"). Kindly shed more light on this matter. Thank you.
For your first question: Yes, the business partner who is British National can apply for Sponsor Licence and then he can issue you the sponsor visa - skilled worker visa. But the company needs to justify the Home Office that there is a genuine need for the job role. For your second question: Self Sponsor Idea is for the UK Expansion Worker Visa. When you already got the running company outside the UK and wanted to expand it in the UK. The most important condition for that, the company should not be already registered in the UK and genuinely seeking an expansion. How Old : The company which is currently registered in the UK and submitted the last Tax return & making profit (adequate current assets) in order to afford more employees, proving genuine running business, will be mandatory requirements to apply for the Sponsor Lic.
It all depends New Entrant meets all the requirement. In this video I have discuss about this...th-cam.com/video/Fk510o0cDts/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps...

Can a person on psw running a homebased clothing business already , started almost a month ago , can register the boutique on her own name and apply for sponsor license ? Do I need business to be old ? Do I need to have a shop or showroom
First Question is : if you on PSW then are you planning to self sponsor yourself ? If new business then You also need some important documents to apply sponsor lic, here is the guide th-cam.com/video/Dr-Ft6PIW0w/w-d-xo.html As you can't apply for the sponsor Lic if you hold PSW. A British Citizen can only apply for the Sponsor Licence. There is a self Sponsor route known as UK Expansion Worker Visa, in which you get the Visa to stay in the UK to expand your or someone business in the UK and then you apply for the Sponsor Licence and issue certificate of sponsorship to work in the UK. Here is the guide : th-cam.com/video/Tz4L65BD4Ro/w-d-xo.html
Thank you , if i register the company on my name and recruit a brit to apply for license? Can I then sponser myself from my own company? The brit we hire should be salaried by us ?
You need to appoint people within your business to manage the sponsorship process when you apply for a licence. The roles are: authorising officer - a senior and competent person responsible for the actions of staff and representatives who use the SMS key contact - your main point of contact with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) level 1 user - responsible for all day-to-day management of your licence using the SMS These roles can be filled by the same person or different people. You can also appoint an optional level 2 user once you have your licence. This is an SMS user with more restricted access than a level 1 user, for example they cannot withdraw a certificate of sponsorship.
So basically there is no issue if I will be the owner and the skilled worker employee of the company at the same time ? And the authorising officer should be paid minimum what amount of salary? Do we need to show all that we ars paying to authorising officer ? Or any random British citizen can be appointed?
As per Home Office Sponsor Guidance page 22 of 66 Section L4.9 Subject to the exception below, SMS users must not assign a CoS to themselves or to a close relative or partner. A close relative or partner is: • a spouse or civil partner • an unmarried or a same-sex partner • a parent or step-parent • a son or step-son • a daughter or step-daughter • a brother, step-brother or half-brother • a sister, step-sister or half-sister • a nephew, niece, or cousin • an aunt or uncle • a father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law Online on social media everyone is misguiding applicants that you can sponsor yourself. You can only sponsor and issue CoS in UK expansion worker route th-cam.com/video/Tz4L65BD4Ro/w-d-xo.html
Can you pls clarify, what do you mean by "to get sponsorship". For sponsorship Licence you need a running business and to get the Skilled Worker Visa which is issues by the Sponsor also known as Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), yes you need to earn certain amount as per the Job Occupation Code. Watch this guide and in this I have explained how to access the Job Occupational Code. th-cam.com/video/cIzWRBJA8FI/w-d-xo.html
Very nice and informative video. Kindly tell if someone is british national he want to start a business for sponsorship license. How much minimum money he required and how much time will spend in all this process. Thanks in advance.
If you start a new business then at least one HMRC tax returns would be necessary to proof that business is making enough money to afford employees. As each employee you sponsor you need to pay salary. For example: you start business in Oct 2023 and do tax returns in April 2024 and apply lic in May 2024. And business revenue is equal to employee salary you wanted to sponsor then that wont justify the case. Home Office don't stop applying for the lic as you end up paying fees for it, its more about justifying the job which is created is really needed & genuine and business can afford.
Most applications are dealt with in less than 8 weeks. UKVI may need to visit your business. You may be able to pay an extra £500 to get a decision within 10 working days. This service is limited to a small number of applications every working day. Faster decisions are allocated in the order that requests arrive (first come, first served).

It typically takes about 8 weeks for a new company to get a Sponsor Licence from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). However, there is a premium service available that can reduce this time to 10 working days. Standard service The standard service for applying for a Sponsor Licence costs £1,500. It typically takes 8 weeks for UKVI to process an application, but there is no guarantee that it will be approved. There is also a risk that your application may be delayed if UKVI needs more information from you. Premium service The premium service for applying for a Sponsor Licence costs £2,000. It typically takes 10 working days for UKVI to process an application, and it is guaranteed that your application will be approved or rejected within this timeframe. This is because the premium service includes an extra assessment by a UKVI caseworker.

You can start a business with someone who is already a British Citizen. But if you aiming to start a nursing business that is not possible as you need Govt Health Department approval first to do so plus specific level certifications.
How much does it cost to get an Authorising officer? Do they have to be part of my company or I can outsource my Sponsorship License Management to an external firm?
Yes, they have to be the part of the company. Its like they will be taking responsibility while submit the Sponsor Lic application to Home Office, its basically you hiring someone in your company who is British National to look after the operations.

Yes, so true and they should . As its getting crazy, they selling the visa without job / salary. Applicants arrives in UK assuming they will find job and end up sleeping at the bus stops cuz they have already paid every single penny to those scammers.
As per Home Office Guidance you cant use CoS to bring relatives to the UK. It cost me a few pounds for this email but it was worth it because I got the answer within 24 hours and they followed up my application as well. After that, I got my results about 5 days later You may want to try this approach.
The answer is no, you cannot start a business on a student visa in the UK. Student visa holders are not allowed to be self-employed or do business activity. But if you on Post Study Work Visa then Yes. To Sponsor yourself you need a Business Citizen the Authorising Officer who can be assigned CoS and then he can issue you the Visa. But the company has to be genuine and job which is created for you must be genuine. In-Short, if you doing Genuine Business in UK then there should be no problem.

Thanks for sharing your experience. ❤❤
Thank you so much for all that you do. You are an amazing person. My question is in regards to your the HR system you mentioned in your “How to apply for sponsor license in Uk” please can you shed more light on what is meant by this and is there a template or recommended package provider.
What the UKVI looks for in an HR System
Record-keeping: Secure storage of employee details, contracts, right to work checks, and visa documents.
@@UKknowledgeGuru thank you very much!

Hi thank you for informational video
Could you please make a clarity on the answer for below question
Is your organization currently employing migrant worker.
Is graduate visa holder considered as migrant worker
Very good question, this will benefit all.
As per Home Office definition for Migrant Worker :
"A migrant worker is someone who comes to a country to work, typically for a limited period."
And someone on graduate visa fulfils this definition. So you will answer Yes to it.

I will say pls watch these 2 videos for guidance

Please suggestion how to handle this? And if there is any alternate.
For any business, you need investment. Transaction will known as Capital Investment, you also need business liability insurance, lease fees/charges ; so technically you have transactions, business not started yet so no revenue yet but will get revenue once you on skilled worker visa and start the business.

However, there are some potential benefits to doing so:
Easier application process: Having a British national director or authorizing officer may streamline the application process, as it demonstrates a connection to the UK and potentially reduces concerns about genuine sponsorship intentions.
Compliance with sponsor duties: British nationals may be more familiar with UK immigration regulations and sponsor duties, making them potentially better suited to fulfilling these responsibilities.
Adding a British national brother or sister as a company director or authorizing officer is generally not recommended. While it's technically possible, there are potential concerns about conflicts of interest and genuine sponsorship practices
can i call someone from outside of uk if i have a running business since last one year?

Here is the complete guide th-cam.com/video/Tz4L65BD4Ro/w-d-xo.html
Another option is UK Innovator Founder Visa route th-cam.com/video/dOHFGi5qrhE/w-d-xo.html You need a New Business Idea and this is the quickest route to get the Settlement in the UK.
How long home office take to decide 20 year application...all documents submitted accordingly
20 year application ? It may take 6 to 8 weeks cuz of the work load. I applied for my company and received it in 7th week (Standard)
@UKknowledgeGuru but most people waiting more then 6 months
As a new entrant do we still need to show 38k or we are allowed to show 29k salary in self sponsorship visa?????
It all depends New Entrant meets all the requirement. In this video I have discuss about this...th-cam.com/video/Fk510o0cDts/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps...

Can a person on psw running a homebased clothing business already , started almost a month ago , can register the boutique on her own name and apply for sponsor license ?
Do I need business to be old ?
Do I need to have a shop or showroom
First Question is : if you on PSW then are you planning to self sponsor yourself ? If new business then You also need some important documents to apply sponsor lic, here is the guide th-cam.com/video/Dr-Ft6PIW0w/w-d-xo.html
As you can't apply for the sponsor Lic if you hold PSW.
The roles are:
authorising officer - a senior and competent person responsible for the actions of staff and representatives who use the SMS
key contact - your main point of contact with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI)
level 1 user - responsible for all day-to-day management of your licence using the SMS
These roles can be filled by the same person or different people.
As per Home Office Sponsor Guidance page 22 of 66 Section L4.9
Subject to the exception below, SMS users must not assign a CoS to themselves or to a close relative or partner. A close relative or partner is:
• a spouse or civil partner
• an unmarried or a same-sex partner
• a parent or step-parent
• a son or step-son
• a daughter or step-daughter
• a brother, step-brother or half-brother
• a sister, step-sister or half-sister
• a nephew, niece, or cousin
• an aunt or uncle
• a father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law or
daughter-in-law
Online on social media everyone is misguiding applicants that you can sponsor yourself. You can only sponsor and issue CoS in UK expansion worker route th-cam.com/video/Tz4L65BD4Ro/w-d-xo.html
6:50 min , for employer or employee ?
Employer needs to do this, in order to apply for the sponsor licence
Do you know whether it is compulsory to work any specific working hours for a week to get sponsorship
Can you pls clarify, what do you mean by "to get sponsorship".

How much time license processing
Most applications are dealt with in less than 8 weeks. UKVI may need to visit your business.
You may be able to pay an extra £500 to get a decision within 10 working days.

How much time it will take for a fresh company to get licence
It typically takes about 8 weeks for a new company to get a Sponsor Licence from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). However, there is a premium service available that can reduce this time to 10 working days.
Standard service
The standard service for applying for a Sponsor Licence costs £1,500. It typically takes 8 weeks for UKVI to process an application, but there is no guarantee that it will be approved. There is also a risk that your application may be delayed if UKVI needs more information from you.
Premium service
The premium service for applying for a Sponsor Licence costs £2,000. It typically takes 10 working days for UKVI to process an application, and it is guaranteed that your application will be approved or rejected within this timeframe. This is because the premium service includes an extra assessment by a UKVI caseworker.
