Gday team & happy easter! Grab a beer or 6 and kick back for this weeks episode (she's a long one). Travel across the nullarbor with us & reminisce some of those sweet SA memories in this one. Cheers & THANK YOU for the love you continue to show us 🥰🐰
Brad & Hayley… we watch a lot of these types of videos & this one was by far the BEST format we have seen - recapping at the end of your SA trip. Fabulous, unique & oh so helpful for people like us who want to plan a trip. No-one else is doing that! I read other comments here & it seems we are not the only ones who feel that way. We would LOVE to hear a recap like this at the end of every state visit PLEEEASE!!😊
Hi Brian! We weren't too sure how this video would be received, but glad you have enjoyed & is as useful as we thought it might be to our fellow travellers! For sure this format will be a recurring type when we have travelled through certain areas & destinations 😁🤙
It would be better with a variety of bikini girls watching the Road Trains go by! But seriously I find this couple to be genuine and believable! not trying to hard like some travel video makers! No trees - definitely a place for winter or early spring and not great for summer trips!
Hi I only just found your channel and so far only watched 3 videos and love them xx I am watching this Nulabour video and you mentioned Greenock Oval campground ⛺️ this is my hometown ❤
Hey Team, You need tyre pressure monitors, to me that tyre has been running flat until it blew. A monitoring system would have warned you of a slowly deflating tyre. Enjoy the adventure.
Hey David, yes I agree with the TPMS. The system we have now doesn’t cut it (No HUD) The tyre was showing signs of fatigue in the sidewalls so I think it was a combination of long driving days and high ambient temps.
3:12 that broken off slab to your left, gulp. I suffer a bit of vertigo and I recall standing somewhere along there myself back in 2015 with a little anxiety. 6:10 yeah I was surprised at how busy the Nullarbor road was as well. Prior I was crossing fingers I wouldn't break down, thinking I'd be stranded for days lol. 20:37 amazing stuff.
So glad I found you guys and such a great video, loved the summary at the end with all the places you stayed, which I have saved in WikiCamps. If I can make a suggestion, it would be good if you can put the name of the Camp or Caravan park on the screen as you mention them, just a suggestion, looking forward to catching up with and following your travels 😊 We just picked up our new Van in December and retired from work.

hey guys just finished watching your trip up the TIP .it was great watching looking forward to your next adventure.hopefully ws should be on the road within 12 months 😉
Another cool episode Kedron Kids. That footage of Brad falling in the drink never gets old🤣 When we travelled across the paddock we had tyre temps in the very high 50°c so we backed the speed off abit. Also had a stupid headwind and extreme temperature one arvo crossing it and found a thick bush to hide in and cranked the air conditioner up to make life more comfortable. Next time we want to spend a month to cross it and check out all the side tracks and old highway. Stay cool legends🤙
Hi Steve!! Hope the big bunny visited mate 😂🐰 Haha never fails to crack me up... literally every time I see it... This blowout has got us seriously thinking of getting a TPMS to monitor temps and pressure. We have some but they only work when the app is open & definitely need a heads up display. The nullarbor is known for its temps and headwinds 😅 Totally agree, we will be venturing across again & will take our time next time round.

Hi there, loved the video again, now that is one shredded tyre you were very lucky not to lose control, very nifty driving, thank you for the run down of costs in SA, am looking forward to your tour of WA. Happy Travels 🤗👍
Good morning Keith & appreciate you tuning in once again. It was a bit touch and go, thankfully plenty of practice in the paddock basher as a kid has given me some good counter steering reflexes 😂
Great video on your SA experiences. We intend to do the same trip next Jan-March. We’ll follow your footsteps. You did great to keep the vehicle under control with the blowout Brad. Enjoy all that WA has to offer and we look forward to your adventures. Safe travels.
Cheers mate, it's a good time of year you've planned & perfect amount of time for a good tour. She was pretty squirley when it let go, thankfully no oncoming traffic or people behind us so we were able to use the road & get off at a spot as safely as possible. Thanks for tuning in & same to you 🤙

We plan to head to SA from Perth in mid-November (more or less en route to Tassie). I have just found your channel and now need to watch the SA series.
Hey Rob! Glad you found us mate - we travelled the SA coastline pretty comprehensively over 3 months so there should be some gems in those videos for you to add to your list! Safe travels Hayley & Brad 😊
Those blowouts will scare the crap out of you. Especially if you hit the brakes which is natural. Lucky you guys and the gear plus the rim are all good.
checking the tyres in the morning and with the breaks adjusted a bit tight and driving at 100klm/hr in the middle of the day a good contributer to a blown tyre
Good video guys enjoyed, glad to see your enjoying your travels. Also good to see your not selling and ads for products like alot of others are doing. Which takes away from the adventure and memories. 🎉😊
Gday Michael. Cheers mate, it didn't take long for us to make a conscious decision to prioritise our enjoyment of our trip over the monetisation of it. That being said any products that we promote have been tested by us prior to promotion & the companies we work with must align with our values!
Back luck with your tyre blow out. You are so fortunate it didn't go sideways. Our weather this year in SA was not the usual. However your coverage of SA was one of the best we've seen.Well done guys.Keep up the great videos. Looking forward to your new episodes.😊
Love watching your videos. As a proud South Aussie and an ex Yorkes "girl" I have to say your coverage was excellent, and I'm glad you enjoyed our state. The weather is a bit crazy at times - BUT have just been in Melbourne for 3 days and it was worse !
Thanks Win, appreciate the kind words 🥰 oh yeah, the whole time we were in SA we were looking at people in Vic and it seemed worse 😂 always a silver lining to these things 😬
Hi Brad and Haley (Patsy), a terrific summary of SA. Thanks. We remember all of those, but we didn't stay in many free camps in 2007. Cheers, Graham and Kath
Hi Brad & Hayley that was an awesome episode, really well set out especially the recap of your SA trip. I totally agree with others definitely keep doing the recaps. It looked like it would have been quite scary with the blow out you had on the Nullarbor. Are you planning on coming into Perth at some stage, while in WA. It would be great to meet you in person if possible as I live in Perth. Keep on doing what you are doing with the episodes, they are really good. Safe travels and stay safe. Cheers Peter Moore
On your return to SA and the Yorke Peninsula try Minlaton Caravan Park. It’s not on either coast it’s in the middle and protected from the coast winds. Great town and cheap sites. The hosts will give you a discount for longer stays. Love you vids keep them up. We also have a Keddie hope to catch up with you guys somewhere in this great country.
Thanks Craig, we did pass by this CV park a bunch of times & tried to get in on a 45c day. Otherwise the awesome bush camps in the area keep us attracted to the coast! Sounds good, we will keep an eye out for you! 😄
Fantastic video guys, we were with you all the way across the Nullarbor, your dedication to capturing the experience is priceless. Love your editing, everything just flows beautifully. So good that you did a recap on your experience in SA, loved it. Just think, we were so close to meeting at Barkers Rocks if there had of been room. Finally, just wanted to say that we downloaded your episode when we had service today which was perfect timing, as the weather turned this afternoon, so we got all snug in our cubby house to watch our favs on TH-cam and got a buzz again to see our names at the end, that was unexpected. You guys rock! Cheers Marg, Steve, Max & Mildred. 😂
Thanks guys, you are so sweet 🥰 I know we were so close!! The only campsite we missed out on in our whole of SA adventures too 😭 Love it & glad we could provide some rainy afternoon entertainment 😁🙏🏼
Thanks for another great video, the SA rundown was quite valuable information for following travellers. Bad luck with the tyre, but heat and load can do the damage - did the TPMS help at all, did you see a temperature/pressure change. I just love your outfit the Kedron XC3 is such an ideal size van and the Landcruiser is a very reliable, relaxed tow vehicle. Can you report back on the fridge fans soon please.
Cheers Robert, yep heat and load were plentiful on these long hauls. Unfortunately it only monitors pressure (bmpro was a gift) will be looking into a better unit for future travels with a HUD and temp sensor if possible. We love it too and agree, can’t go past kedron and a Toyota 70 for a tough reliable setup. The klevacool fans have been running non stop for 5 months without missing a beat, keeping our internal temps at a steady 3c. Honestly it’s good, I rarely think or worry about the fridge now. Just check the temp from time to time now 😊
Thanks for another top episode guy's,the SA round up and Q&A was really interesting.Brad blows out will and do happen it's all part of the drive. Thanks guy's.👍🏾
Hey mate & glad you enjoyed! Always a worry with the talking heads vids so hopefully the information is appreciated by some 🙏 as always great to see you back in the comments Doug & thank you for the ongoing support 😁
Karstan and Max are something else, definitely a must watch. Love that you r in our WA. Hope you have a blast here, love you guys, really enjoy following your travels, very relatable because we were in SA in Feb, OMG the weather can really affect your time in any place and we were certainly there at the wrong time. 🥵🥵
Great video you two, I’ve come across your TH-cam channel. Q, those roads on all the Peninsula’s in S.A. Are they suitable for 2WD Please. I’m heading down that way, Have a Toyota Hiace campervan that I live in and would love to spend many months all around that area, so this video of yours was awesome for me to see what’s what in the area, Thank you. Cheers Judy
What a great episode guys!! Your SA montage and recap was so good. I’m really glad you spent a decent amount of time there, so many amazing places to see and you did it so well. Yes I’m one of those SA people who love their state 😂, (but I’m not there anymore). I think the weather was bad this summer in most places in Aus! So excited for your WA adventures. Ps was that Karstan and Maxine’s combi I spotted pulling out of the petrol station on the Nullabor? Also next time around I hope you can get up to the northern Flinders Ranges, it’s truly spectacular ❤️
Thank you Robyn 🥰 We really took our time & barely scratched the surface with what it has to offer!! I agree it was ordinary at times, but much was the case in most of Australia. Can you believe our original plan was Tassie over Xmas? It bloody snowed down there in the middle of summer 😂 Yes it was those guys, such an epic little rig & they sure get themselves into some predicaments... Yes one thing we are definitely coming back for in cooler months is the flinders, the phots and stories we've seen & heard about the finders are just magic! Cheers & all the best H&B 🤠
I just got back a few weeks ago from the Flinders, had some 43 degree days which was challenging but kind of added to the adventure :). Such an epic place. It’s just so hard to pick the weather anywhere anymore, I’m heading to Broome in early August which should be good weather then but who knows!! You are in for such a treat with your WA travels as I’m sure you know ❤️❤️
Re the weather, 2022 was very average and out of character for SA. In my view and as a local March and April are the best months in Adelaide for travel. Jan and Feb can have over 40c on a regular basis but as I said 2022 was weird and for that matter so has 2023. Thanks for showing my some of my own state, a couple of the places I have added to the bucket list :)
Hi I live on Yorkes great video! Thanks for not mentioning some of our special places! Did WA 10 years ago amazing place had 3 months not enough time safe Travels and enjoy! Thanks
Gday Scott & thank you! We tried to keep it brief & loved our time on the Yorke! We have a lot planned for the coming year over here so stay tuned mate we might just visit some of the spots you did a decade ago!! 😁
Keep up the good work, it is a long drive, prior to Covid we did the Nullarbor 8 times in 10 years, do yourself a favour and get a better jack, the small bottle hydraulic jacks are not expensive, regards Tony
Thanks Tony, it's a bit of a hike but not too bad! We enjoyed ourselves. You must've known every pot hole 😂 Certainly, its on the list & have been checking the catalogues to grab one when they come on sale 😁🤙
In terms of Weather in SA the last 3 summers have been unusual. Warm weather usually starts October / November. This Summer started very late and is usually a lot hotter. Looking forward to the WA trip
Hey mate & appreciate the note. Very interesting, yes we only had a few very hot days over 40c. Loved it over there though and will have some fond memories until we get back. Cheers & so are we!!
Hi guys - this is prob the best summary I have seen for someone like ourselves who are planning to go there sometime in future. We have watched quite a few youtubers, but this would be the most well packaged info with we have come across, so well done for how you put that info across. One question, seeing you doing diving made us wonder if you can also give us advice on what masks to use for snorkelling because everytime we get something, it always seems to fog up and we can see nothing. Is there a trick to this or do we need to buy a specific brand of mask - tx
Hey Ken! Thanks for the kind words mate 😀 Certainly, a good quality mask to start with we use Cressi diving gear & it works great. To avoid fogging it helps to use toothpaste as an abrasive to remove the antilog film applied during manufacture and just use some baby shampoo for anti fog, rubbing it on the inside of the lens and rinsing just before putting the mask on. We use this method and never experience fogging up 👍
Hi, guys Thanks for all your video's, there great. Gee! That tyre was a mess, if you don't mind, can I ask you what brand it was? We currently have Coopers AT and are looking at changing to Dueler AT tyres. We are planning a road trip to Darwin this July. The Coopers are good tyres but expensive. Thanks again for showcasing Australia.
Hi David & cheers for the kind words 🙏🏼 We are running Mickey Thompson at3s. At $550 a pop, was quite disappointing to see it go bang. Although I’m not sure what is to blame we might look at an alternative in the future 😊
This episode was bloody fantastic we are heading that way same time end of this year and your info is gold. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences. You rock Oh shit nearly forgot to ask what drone do you use please Keep up the great episodes love ya work
Thanks Kerry! People planning trips to SA are exactly who we had in mind for this recap & hope it makes it easier to plan & get keen 😁 We have a DJI mini 3, used to have a mini 2 but we crashed it 😅 Appreciate the comment & you tuning in 🙌🏼😊
Hi Wayne & thanks for following along mate! Yes we do, it is a BMPRO unit, unfortunately only works with a bluetooth app (have to have app open on your phone) and only monitors pressure. Will be looking into a TPMS possibly safetydave, have heard good things about it!
@@our.australia.trip. yep thats the downfall of the BMPRO tpms…..I made a suggestion to BMPRO over 12 months ago to develop at least a notification alert on the app. Without this the BMPRO tpms is about as useful as a tyre pressure gauge used before you start driving for the day. 👍
I have to say that tyre pressure is "king" on the Nullarbor. Don't know what tyre pressures you were running in that tyre that blew out but I have to say that tyre pressure is king on the Nullarbor, especially in the heat. Having done somewhere in the vicinity of 100 return trips across, many with a 20' full off road van, I have never suffered a flat. I run 45-50 psi on the 200 series and 50 on the van (but not off-road !). Your tyre appears to have got very hot and then delaminated, maybe it developed a slow leak before letting go. A good friend owns a mechanical workshop in Norseman and he reckons most tyre issues out there are due to under-inflation, especially on low profile tyres. Looking forward to following more of your travels. I might also add that if you need a tow truck out there it comes from Norseman (or if they are unavailable, Coolgardie/Kalgoorlie, so $$$$$$$$$ !) There is essentially no roadside service out there at any of the roadhouses, so plan and prepare accordingly.
Cheers John we were run 45-50psi on the rears less if no van, unfortunately the tyres were showing signs of fatigue long before our trip across. The heat & long days in the saddle were the straw that broke the camels back I suspect. Good to know, & plan accordingly! Appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment John. All the best B&H
@@our.australia.trip. no probs. I know that Micky T’s are covered under warranty for 72months from defect. Given it looked like it delaminated, I would think that would be a defect. 😉🤷♂️ Happy travels guys and keep up the great work. Hoping to be doing what you’re doing next year. 🤞
I think you just struck a bad season with the weather. It’s not ordinarily that bad. We’ve had stinking hot weather October and November. Much of Australia had a bad summer. So don’t think that’s usual, imo. (I’ve had many decades here….it was def colder than usual)😉
when I get a chance ill try find the figures in the diary, usually I work it out in my head when driving but it was that long ago I forgot 😂 probably around the 24/25l/100km mark though which is pretty heavy for us.
I agree, these tyres were put on by the previous owner and a more a MT than an AT. Will be looking at going back to a less aggressive tyre when these tyres are spent
Hi B Rad and Hayley how do you go on school holidays times when on the road?Where were you in SA at that time. Are the prices good.Great vid again tight lines 🦐🐟🦑🦈🎣👍
Gday Rocket ROD! Haven't had any issues thus far. We deliberately avoid busy areas when we can so that helps, but during the Xmas school holidays we were on the Yorke & had only 1 site we couldn't get into due to it being too busy ( no sites left) Cheers mate & tight lines to you too - love it 🤙🍻🎣
You'll have to forgive us! We don't read from a script so every now and then you say something that doesn't quite make sense. What I meant was, lucky we didn't blow 2 tyres otherwise we would've really been up said creek without a paddle...
Was admiring the van & We discovered their socials after the fact. I did say hi in passing but didn't have a chat so to speak. We are a bit shy in that sense, going up to strangers 😅

Hi Brad and Haley (Patsy), a terrific summary of SA. Thanks. We remember all of those, but we didn't stay in many free camps in 2007. Cheers, Graham and Kath
Gday Graham & Kath thanks for the kind words! Hope it invoked some nostalgia 😁 All the best guys & catch you on the road 🤙
Cheers Pete glad you enjoyed mate 😁for sure! it’s something we will continue in the future 🙌🏼
Love watching you guys❤
Thank you for tuning in Julie 🥰
Thanks guys, you are so sweet 🥰
I know we were so close!! The only campsite we missed out on in our whole of SA adventures too 😭
Love it & glad we could provide some rainy afternoon entertainment 😁🙏🏼
Just check the temp from time to time now 😊
Thanks for another top episode guy's,the SA round up and Q&A was really interesting.Brad blows out will and do happen
it's all part of the drive.Thanks guy's.👍🏾
Hey mate & glad you enjoyed! Always a worry with the talking heads vids so hopefully the information is appreciated by some 🙏 as always great to see you back in the comments Doug & thank you for the ongoing support 😁
You got maxine and karstan on your TH-cam at your last petol station in the kombi
OMG.... how did I not notice that 🤦♀️
😄😄😄
Surely they must have noticed the extremely noticeable KOMBI 😃 We Love Karstan and Maxine
Yes! I was admiring the kombi & noticed the socials. A very cool & unique setup. Defiantly fans now 😁
Haha the first kombi I have seen with mud tyres... definitely catches the eye!
Karstan and Max are something else, definitely a must watch. Love that you r in our WA. Hope you have a blast here, love you guys, really enjoy following your travels, very relatable because we were in SA in Feb, OMG the weather can really affect your time in any place and we were certainly there at the wrong time. 🥵🥵
Our weather this year in the Fleurieu was not the usual we had a crap summer
Glad to hear it was an anomaly, loved it and looking forward to getting back during some good weather 😁
Cheers Judy
Yeah the roads are pretty good down there, even some SA beaches are suitable for 2wd cars!
@@our.australia.trip. Thanks for that.
Great to know, when we come back we might try that time of year! Thanks for tuning in Andy & appreciate the kind words 🙏
We use this method and never experience fogging up 👍
we did have an average summer this year, nearly no heat waves and lower temps. SA is usually better than that in summer.
Looking forward to getting back down there for hopefully some better weather!
Hi, guys
Thanks for all your video's, there great.
Hi David & cheers for the kind words 🙏🏼
We are running Mickey Thompson at3s. At $550 a pop, was quite disappointing to see it go bang. Although I’m not sure what is to blame we might look at an alternative in the future 😊
Lovely stuff
Cheers Craig
Wa can mean wait awhile and windy always
Lots more truck on the nullarbor road now .
Surprised us how many there were, they were plentiful. I guess due to the Fitzroy crossing issues.
This episode was bloody fantastic we are heading that way same time end of this year and your info is gold. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences. You rock
Oh shit nearly forgot to ask what drone do you use please
Keep up the great episodes love ya work
Thanks Kerry! People planning trips to SA are exactly who we had in mind for this recap & hope it makes it easier to plan & get keen 😁
We have a DJI mini 3, used to have a mini 2 but we crashed it 😅
Appreciate the comment & you tuning in 🙌🏼😊
Hey nice Vlog. What brand tyre did you blow out
Cheers, it was a Mickey Thompson Baja atz p3
Luv ya vids guys. Well done
Thanks Mim!
Love watching you guys
Looks like you have a TPM valve on your tyre
Did you get any warnings it appears that tyre was running low in pressure
Love the vids
Cheers mate! Appreciate it 🙏🏼🤙🏼
I really enjoy yours vids.
Question: what was your average speed you drove at while crossing the Nullarbor ?
Hi Dennis & thanks for tuning in mate! Cruising around 90 kmh, depending on engine temps and head winds as low as 80.
Loved the dropage🤔
Don’t know what that is but thanks! 😂
Should get yourself some Safety Dave, Tyre Monitoring System……..
Interested to know what brand of tyre blew out?🧐
Possibly would have been covered by warranty?
Mickey Thompson, they were a few years old so doubt warranty would've been in effect!
@@our.australia.trip. no probs. I know that Micky T’s are covered under warranty for 72months from defect. Given it looked like it delaminated, I would think that would be a defect. 😉🤷♂️
Happy travels guys and keep up the great work.
That seems to be the general consensus! We still had a great time, hopefully it will be even better the next time we visit 😁
We call them wheel nuts in Australia mate.
Thanks Wayne that was keeping me up too
Life’s too short not to….live your best life
100% 🙌
Hey guys quick one for you. What torque setting are the wheel nuts in this video for your van and truck that you use? Thanks
We just use the specs out of the owners manual for the ute & van. Could be different for your setup!
Instead of how much you spent on fuel as that can vary. Would be nuice to see how many Lt of fuel used and average lt/100km ??
when I get a chance ill try find the figures in the diary, usually I work it out in my head when driving but it was that long ago I forgot 😂 probably around the 24/25l/100km mark though which is pretty heavy for us.
Use flex seal on that tire.
Yeah tried to patch it up with duct tape but needed something stronger
I noticed you had tyre monitors fitted, did they show any warning signs before the tyre blew
No, bmpro unit doesn’t have HUD. Very basic & only running it as it was a gift
at tyres would be better then off road tyres. Especialy on black top.
We deliberately avoid busy areas when we can so that helps, but during the Xmas school holidays we were on the Yorke & had only 1 site we couldn't get into due to it being too busy ( no sites left) Cheers mate & tight lines to you too - love it 🤙🍻🎣
Appreciate the time and the answers.Lovely job again 🙏👌👍🍻cheers Rod and Jenny
Sooooo infact, 3 months wasn't enough time in South Australia 😜
Haha by the end we were ready for something different but still missed a lot!
you have tire pressure monitor valve caps, not watching that! Get a hydraulic squat bottle jack too and throw that std jack.
Yeah unfortunately they are not the best with no HUD. They were a gift afterall
WA = Wait Awhile.....not that they're a bit slow over there...🙄🙄🙄
Haha not always a bad thing!!
Unfortunately we had the shittest weather this summer in SA.
Glad to hear it wasn't typical!!
Dont yta have a TPMS on ya dash ??
Hey Mark, nah I have it on an app. But kinda useless unless the app is open. Looking into a HUD unit now...
Welcome to the West
It has been kind so far!! Stay tuned for our first WA ep this Saturday 🙌🏼
What do you mean luckily I have a spare are you for real 😮
You'll have to forgive us! We don't read from a script so every now and then you say something that doesn't quite make sense. What I meant was, lucky we didn't blow 2 tyres otherwise we would've really been up said creek without a paddle...
Great Video guys, informative and some magic sights. At 11.27 Did you say hello to Karstan and Maxine in the VW? www.youtube.com/@KarstanAndMaxine
Was admiring the van & We discovered their socials after the fact. I did say hi in passing but didn't have a chat so to speak. We are a bit shy in that sense, going up to strangers 😅
For Christ sake get a desent jack brother so not professional eh,hope your got more spare tyres
Hey champ! If you tuned in for professional tyre changing vids you will be sorely dissapointed!! If you wanna see the pros do it tune into the Bob Jane YT channel 🤡
should have un hitcked your van would be much lighter on the jack and the wind
Absolutely, heat of the moment didn't consider it. Only when I edited the vid it hit me, can't believe your the only one who mentioned it!
