Helpful video. Started having a problem with my drivers side door not opening from the outside this week. video was helpful for learning how to change my door lock / latch assembly. Also, got that steering wheel just yesterday. Don't have your contact info anymore.

Very helpful. I'm doing the passenger side front on my 2005 XC90 V8.

Hi there! I've a similar problem on my 2002 V70: when I lock or unlock the car, the front passenger knob won't move. In case of locking, you have to wait for one minute or two to have the door actually locked. But the knob is always up. In your opinion, do I need a new door lock actuator too?

Will this work if the fob lock the door but won’t unlock with the fob?

Some questions: Would it have been better to unplug the wiring harnesses after the actuator is unbolted? I also noticed you peeled off the electrical tape around the wiring connector. And did you say its better to pop off the lock and latch levers before unbolting the actuator? Is that bc so the actuator is not wobbling as you pop them off?

gg taruc maybe although I was thinking That it would’ve been easier with the actuator firmly planted. Yes I had to takeoff the electric tape because it was wrapped over top of the harness tub itself.Yes you are correct if you can’t do the actuator first and then try to remove the arms everything wobble all over the place.

Good video. Just wondering why you started with drilling the rivet. I have to do my passenger side. This really helps.

gg taruc no reason that I can think of. You could do it at any time.

Looks like the window guide bottom rivets must be out to move the window guide to remove the actuator.

Thanks. Going to try this tomorrow on 2009 XC90. It locks on its own when I close the door. Always worried I’ll lock my keys inside.

Sebastian Schwarz been there done that. I locked myself out of the car while filming the video actually. I was going to include the footage for laughs but thought better of it. I did learn how easy it is to break in to these cars though!

I would use a flat head bolt and a nut to replace the rivet on the window guide ... Might save time and would be easier instead of use a drill..

Use a 8mm drill to remove head from rivet.
