In a few years this will be one of the most important videos on cinematic street photography, Sir you made a masterpiece. Who ever is watching this. will learn so much in so little time. 💯👏
Next level on every count. Love the colour grading. Just when you think you've seen everything there's to see on NY, this comes along. Webb meets Meyerowitz meets Leiter. ❤
Every angle, every single detail, the composition the framing the captured images the timing of some unexpected moment.. lady putting the coffee cup in the garbage bag even your subdued reflection while the subway was moving… this is a piece of art .. I’m a first time viewer.. followed and subscribed
Was scrolling through my subs feed and didn't recognise your username then when I saw the description of the video I twigged that I subbed when you uploaded the Tokyo video. I was blown away with that video and this one is just as incredible. Some of these shots are unreal mate, the video of the moving subway train and the stills in the Jewish neighbourhood are real standouts. Its a beautiful video mate, this is the best of youtube. You're very talented, thanks for the upload and keep doing what you do
This comment means so much. Thanks for taking the time to watch both videos and leave thoughtful feedback as well. Gives me motivation to keep making more 💯
I love the contrast between the filmed material, so soft and cinematic, and the photos, with hard light and contrast. Great job, really interesting and pleasing to watch. Also great soundtrack choice.
Your photos are truly impressive, with a vibe reminiscent of Alex Webb and Henri Cartier-Bresson. But this seamless blend of video, photography, and music, my friend-that’s something only you can achieve.
I really love this style of video shooting. The focal length, which I guess is around 35-55mm, creates such a cinematic feel while also capturing the composition and storytelling essence of street photography. Thank you for your work, I’d love to try shooting like this myself
@@UnkstalThanks for the kind feedback! Alex Webb is definitely a huge inspiration but I’m glad I can do something more original by combining the photo and video element. You have a good eye as most of this was shot on 28 to 55mm. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and write 🙌
A great effort. These types of images of New York City have been made by artists in all mediums for at least 100 years. Your contribution is a worthwhile one. All one need to do is walk with eyes and minds wide open. No equipment, camera or computer needed.
This piece of art will remain relevant and important for a long time to come. You captured the beauty and reality of diversity and our current society in an amazing way. It's a telling contrast to the content being shown to us in reels and TikTok. It invites me to think about how we live together in this day and age and what is needed to improve our social connections (even though that might not have been your goal at all). Your videography and photography is beautiful and emotional, thank you for sharing it with us!
This comment means so much to me. I love that you mentioned the contrast to reels and TikTok, and I completely agree. I'm happy this style of video is resonating with people, because I was a bit nervous people wouldn't have the patience to sit through it.
A very very good work! One of the best aesthetic and artistic documentary about the city. The shots are flawless, the editing is impressive, the whole narration captivating. The ultimate street photography. The top video for 2024! Well done, congratulations 👏 P.s.I'm quite sure that this film will get prizes 🏅
I’ve visited New York many times, losing myself with my camera in its urban canyons, eating the best meatballs of my life there, and watching life pass by in Red Hook. New York is extraordinary! But what’s even more extraordinary is this work right here. Rarely, if ever-especially not on TH-cam-do I get the feeling that I can feel something through a video. But this takes me straight back! I can almost smell and feel this video. It instantly transports me to a street corner where it smells like hot garbage and fresh greenery. This is, by far, the best thing I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Thank you for this incredible work. Thank you, thank you!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and write such a thoughtful comment. I’m glad you think it’s special. The hot garbage comment made me laugh lol - you’re not wrong 😂
I’m glad it went by fast! It’s hard to keep people’s attention these days in a world of short-form 5 second videos on TikTok lol. Appreciate you for doing so
@@illkoncept I totally agree with you. And the world really needs to slow down a bit. Hope you continue doing this, my retinas really enjoyed every second of it.
Really amazing feat, congratulations. I’ve lived in NYC between 2019-2022 and did my own “photographic tour” of the City, so I can really related to your masterful work, that was the city that I’ve lived and breathed over those three years. Keep up the good work! 😊
Brilliant depiction of New York out of the touristic places. Vibrant but also dark and gritty, you can feel alone in the middle of thousands. The way you filmed this, the choice of sound design, the colors, the gritiness, everything works perfectly to convey to the mood you wanted. Brilliant piece of work!
this is so cool ! very atmospheric, very inspiring !!! real life captured at photo and video ! this little movie must be saved for 50 years )) it will be same effect like old film photos !
Thanks for saying that! I feel the same. It will be a little time capsule. There are many storefronts in this video that already have been replaced. Also, the trains in the subway section have already been retired in 2020. Crazy how fast things change
When it takes you emotionally...wow, it really is an amazing composition. On top of that there's also one of the best street-photography recipes: City, Night and Rain. Thank you so much, wonderful art-work.
This is a masterpiece. Sound, Colors, Cinematic. I am in shock, It was a pleasure to watch this short film and feel every second of it. What a talent. Lovely work !!!
There's not many videos out there that I see and say "I wanna make something like this" but your videos are like that. Bring on more Cinematic Reality iterations 😎
Cinematic reality indeed. Love how you included so many shots of the graffiti buildings. This is what NYC is, so diverse .. so many cultures. Amazing video
These are the best (moving) images i have ever seen on youtube. A trip like Barakaa (1992) and the Photography of Bruce Gilden and Vivian Maier. Thank you for this! It really inspired me as a filmmaker in a period of not much motivation.🫶🏼
This was incredibly inspiring to me... every detail, every moment, every single frame completely blew me away. I’m absolutely mesmerized by this masterpiece. Thank you for creating something so powerful and moving!
It means so much to me that this type of video resonates with you. It’s hard to keep people’s attention in such a fast-paced world addicted to short-form videos - I’m glad this channel is attracting like minded people 🙌🙌
Definitely one of the most incredible videos I've ever seen in my entire life here on this platform. I really felt immersed in the streets of NYC. thanks for sharing this with us. A big hug directly from Brazil.
Beautiful stuff once again! I love how positively old some parts of New York City still are. You've captured it in a wonderful way. Definitely a film to be proud of. Very well done!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to preserve through photos and video as much as that "Old New York" as I can. It's disappearing so fast. Many of the storefronts and even that era of train car (in the slow motion subway sequences) are gone already. The only constant in life is change, I guess.
@@illkoncept Yes, it's good that you do! I've never been to NYC, but those train cars are part of my vision what NYC is like. Informed by decades of TV & film. The march of change and progress is as inevitable as it is unstoppable. In many ways it's probably even a good thing. Higher safety standards, better insulation, etc, etc. But there definitely is also something getting lost in that transition to modernity. If nothing else, it's good we have beautiful footage like yours to look back at and get a sense what it was like. Thanks again for making it such an enjoyable viewing experience.
Thanks so much. I dislike that BS too. I make these videos strictly for the art, even though I know the algorithm favors gear talk and what not. Hoping to find more people like you who appreciate that. 🙌🙌

@@illkoncept I'm sure your followers would love to see it. I always find it interesting to see photographers I admire tackle different environments and challenges. Especially the challenge of training your eye to find interest in less-than-inspiring locations. Whatever you decide to share to youtube, I'll be watching.
So happy you don’t mind slow-moving video in such a fast-paced world with a short attention span. It definitely goes against the algorithm which favors tip and gear videos, but I’m so happy it’s attracting people who resonate with this form of movie
That means a lot! Although I consider myself more of a photographer - I have fallen in love with making these kind of movies and spend just as much time and effort on the video side of things!

Thanks Brema! Glad you liked it man
You made NYC look like what I'd imagined it back in the 2000's. The grain in the footage breathes out nostalgia.
Thank you so much for that! I seem to have a nostalgia for an older New York that I never was able to experience
