Modern Day Japan on a 2000’s Camera
I brought this 2000's JVC camcorder on our trip to Japan last year. I filmed a lot with it, but I never knew what to do with the footage. After assembling all of the video into a timeline and listening to some music, I ended up making this experimental short film. It’s amazing how this camera seems to subtract 20 years from whatever is recorded and throws everything back to the early 2000’s. I hope you enjoy this short film as much as I did putting it together. Stick around or skip ahead to the end to hear my thoughts about the camera along the Brooklyn waterfront.

Film Photography in Red Hook, Brooklyn + Channel Update
In this video, I explore Red Hook in Brooklyn shooting 35mm film and looking for beauty in the mundane. Lately, I’ve been fascinated by making photos out of banal scenes and trying to make “something out of nothing.” This style of photography inspired me by master photographers such as William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Ernst Haas, Fred Herzog, Harry Gruyaert, & many more. In addition to shootin...
April Showers Bring May Flowers | Shot on 16mm Film | Bolex H16
This is my second 16mm short film called “April Showers Bring May Flowers.” It was shot entirely on 16mm motion-picture film using a Bolex H16 Rex-5, which has been converted to Super 16. This film highlights this year’s transition from April into May documenting the spring rain followed by the blossoming flowers in May. Along with the seasonal changes, I wanted to show the stark contrast betwe...
Photographing the Subway with the Most Graffiti in the World
Inspired by a love for gritty NYC street photography from the 1970’s and 1980’s, I’ve always been fascinated by graffiti when exploring cities. Upon discovering photographs from masters like Bruce Davidson, Martha Cooper, and Richard Sandler, I quickly became obsessed with images documenting graffiti trains and the subway. Since New York eradicated graffiti from the trains in the early ‘90s, I ...
Never Long Enough in Paris | Sony A1
My girlfriend and I briefly visited Paris in February; you just never seem to have enough time there. I didn't get as many good photos/videos that I had hoped for to make a longer video...but I didn't want these clips go to waste. Therefore, here is a short film from wandering the Parisian streets during some moody weather. The blue hour/night scenes are my favorite, as always. Shot on Sony A1 ...

Introducing a short film created from my nights in Japan exploring Tokyo and Osaka. This video was shot entirely on 16mm motion-picture film using a Bolex H16 Rex-5, which has been converted to Super 16. Stick around to the end of the video for some BTS of the camera and to learn about some of the problems I experienced while creating this. I’m looking forward to using this camera to create mor...
Photographing the NYC Nostalgia Train: Instagram vs. Reality
In this video, I reflect on my time photographing the New York City nostalgia train during the 2023 holiday season. This train is from the 1930's and '40s and is put into service by the New York Transit Museum throughout the winter holiday season. It is a fun experience especially because many people come dressed true to the older time periods. Photographing this event can feel nostalgic or eve...
