I'm a 61 year old man that has worked involving imaging in one form or another all of my working life. I started with an Autel XSP and then a Mavic Air 2 a couple years ago and this new Avata (plus your videos) has gotten me to want to try FPV, especially with the new technology coming out. I always thought, "I'm too old for this stuff, it's a young guy's game" but I also tell myself that age is just a number and you're never too old to learn. I've binge watched both your channels in the last couple months and you are by far my favorite TH-camr. Keep up the excellent work Gene!!!

I fly FPV with a 70-yr-old retired electrical engineer and he's a badass pilot. There's no maximum age limit for flying FPV. Do it!

fanatics and their raw emotion and excitement of this new FPV drone. I could have watched them a lot more flying and chatting about the benefits compared with their pains of building and bashing FPV drones. Really entertaining. Cheers.
I think the main DJI product on this video is the DJI Mic. It saved the whole conversation haha luv it

I love these videos where you are just talking with a bunch of friends who like to do the same stuff. Normally, I like the scripted, detailed, educational type videos. But it's nice to just see a bunch of people having fun with something.

Excellent video! I love that you mention the packages only come with the motion controller. All the other channels seem to ignore that fact! Especially when they only use it with the standard controller!

Been flying FPV for 10 years and never imagined DJI making a consumer friendly FPV drone like this.
The biggest issue that they overcame was durability which has been addressed here by advanced autopilot tech, low weight and incredible advances in low latency video transmission / display.
Only DJI could do this at scale. Years later, nobody comes close to nailing the consumer market.

Love seeing the head-tracking feature incorporated into the goggles/drone. Wish they include the HT in the Air Unit so I can use it on an RC jet - fingers croseed!

DJI if you make these goggles contactable with the old air units and vistas, it will allow us to upgrade our drones over time. We don’t want to own two goggles and we don’t want to throw away all of our old air units and vistas. 100% you will sell more goggles if you make these comparable!
Also, I don't want some goggles that I can only use with the ONE drone....

DJI doesn't make anything compatible, not batteries, controllers, goggles, charge cases etc. They are very orientated around a business model that sacrifices convenience for the sake of more profit. They are the Apple of the drone world.

I heard the original DJI FPV would get blocked in no fly zones. Where as a mavic it would warn you but you could still fly. Does the avata have this problem too? Or can I fly it no matter where I am?

Mmm I think it was showing GeoLocked on screen on 51Drones review…I had the same thoughts as my home is within 2km of Tokoroa airfield but have trees n fences to fly shielded per NZ Part 101….Laurie NZ

I’m interested to hear your thoughts about first steps into FpV for newbies.
Getting something like the BETAfpv Cetus to learn to fly, and then stepping up when you feel confident to other drones (like the Avata) still seems like such a good way to learn to fly.
I wonder how many people would feel confident to learn to fly transitioning from ‘normal’ to ‘manual’ modes on the Avata, or if the price might limit this?
You could always watch his first FPV videos. He was completely new to it.

Now it might have been staged with the guys walking into the park with drones, but it absolutely made this video a 10/10. I've never flown FPV but it has me thinking. its nice having a beautiful cinematic advertisement, but this video has had more of an impact on me wanting to buy....Thank You PJ...thank you DJI for letting PJ have freedom to produce such an awesome video.
That's the crazy thing and the best part of the video that it's 300% not staged at all. We were minding our own business filming our own project and was leaving the park but I noticed that it was Potato and legit interrupted the filming and next thing we know we ended up at the park another 2 hours learning about drones ahaha. Such an amazing encounter ahaha

So glad they've made their drones more durable. That was the number 1 thing that stopped me from getting the original DJI DPV drone. Also looks like third party manufacturers might be able to make carbon fibre accessories to make this even more durable as well.
