    For anyone that has a 2010 Nissan Cube and needs their blower motor resistor replaced, book time is just about 6 hours. The actual blower motor itself pays less than 1.
    I am doing both tomorrow on a customers vehicle. Neat

    Good video! Very helpful. Magnetize the screwdriver bits to hold the screws on.

    Our 2008 Versa SL blower has finally given up even the 4th setting, and it's friggin cold out. I have snaky arms so this might be my plan. I have already heard from the mechanic how he will approach the fix. I am going to try to avoid the labour cost of taking apart the dash. Other than the dealer breaking my clockspring mech and refusing responsibility, it has been a pretty good little car. The horn doesn't work, and the wipers are 'very' intermittent', and she still has the factory sparkplugs because the manifold is stuck so she is hard to start sometimes. That's it. Oh, the dealer did replace the transmission in the 9th year of the 10 year warranty, which is the only reason she still goes at all.

    How do you know if it is the blower motor or the resistor

  • @oliverwlodyka

    Just had to do this. Found the part on eBay for $15 with free shipping (from US, received inside of 4 days). For the bottom screw I wound up using an offset screwdriver from Advance Auto for $4, for the top screw I was able to use a precision screw driver and remove it relatively easily.putting the top screw back in was a bit of a pain, I wound up using an extending magnet to help position the screw and put it back in. My understanding of Nissan's HVAC is that position 4 is the blower motor only, bypassing the Resistor, so if position 1-3 is not working this would be the issue, if all aren't working it's probably the HVAC Temperature control unit, which is about $60 used (ebay) and takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours, or your blower motor, which can be removed in about 10 minutes.

    Can't even get to mine in the 2009 Cube. Tried from the top behind the instrument panel (put a hole in the dash behind the cluster, tried from underneatheth, but even the tiniest tool I have cannot get into the stop. When I was able to touch it, I cannot even unlock and remove the clip.an

      I just did my 09 cube and had to tear the dash apart and go through a hole in the dash behind the little square storage hole to the left of the AC controls. I had to use a LONG Phillips screwdriver and a long set of forceps. The screwdriver was 22 inches, but that was a bit too long. 12 to 15 inched would have been better The forceps were 12 inches long too. They really helped to get the new resistor in place.

    • @danbemowski3014
      @danbemowski3014 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @David French It is a ways in behind things which is why you need the long screwdriver and forceps. I had a hell of a time finding it. I know it's not easy, but you may need to get your head under the dash with a flashlight so you can gauge where it is an to get an idea of what you are looking for. Trust me though, it is there, and the long screw driver and forceps helped A LOT... If you can post me a picture from the front of your dash looking in I might be able to point it out for you.

    This project took almost 3 hours... I could not lay upside down, so I pulled the seat, and the all of the braces in front... and still had trouble reach that little connector... but, with lots of cursing and luck, it's done... you should show all of the hard parts and not just the money shot... lol

  • @shangoy
    @shangoy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know this video is old, but you need to remove Cube from your description. The Cube requires you to take most of the dash apart, the resistor is placed parallel to the front of the car behind a round welded structural tube. I'm still working on getting the rest of the dash apart.

    If your attempting this on a 2010 cube it’s a lot more difficult then it looks. Although putting the new one in is easier than taking the old one out.

    Since it is winter and raining, the job of getting those damn screws out proved too challenging for the day. I did however unclip the original, clip it to the replacement and verified it is working. Is there any issue if I just use a blank screw hole and fasten the replacement to an unused space under the dash (making sure it doesn't touch anything else under there), and just leave the broken original as is? Or does the original's slot it fits in use the fan as active cooling for the resistor?

    You paired 89 dollars for the resistor??? In Montreal it should be more expensive and I got it for 60+ tax at NAPA Auto parts. On the net they sell it for ~75 dollars. Nissan here they sell their part 195+tax. So it less then third of the price I paired.
