i dont believe the one about ISTPs and lectures.. we are prolly more naturally capable of listening but we get bored so we dont. The lecture has to he about something we care about
ISTP, I really do hate long lectures, especially if it's theoretical, and don't pay close attention. I try hard to avoid them, even if I'm interested in the subject. I tune in off and on, doodle, think of various things (besides the lecture). If it's shorter and explains how to do a thing, or how a thing works, then I pay attention.
If u prefer going at deeper level of understanding before doing something you are an Intp, but if u don't care about deep understanding and prefer achieving goal with what you already figured out, you are an Istp. I was Intp before realizing that even I read a lot of articles, I read them because I want to do something with that. Not because I want to master everything. I read historical articles for debate purposes, listen to music so that I can come up with my own musical idea by combining them. If the Curiosity was the only reason then I would be an Intp.

As an ISTP with inattentive ADHD (not hyperactive) it was easy to assume I was an INTP, but no, I have a profoundly pragmatic streak that makes TiSe way more accurate.
That makes a lot of sense as INTP’s are known for being more spaced out. I can say as an INTP with ADHD-I, I am doubled down on the “lost in thought” quality 😆 It’s fun though, I have very well developed mental frameworks for many things.
@@Nick_Leo I've always typed as INTP or N type but I'm leaning more toward ISTP, I'm pretty tuned into the present and am obsessed with "skilling up" and becoming competent with hard skills, normally in a mechanical sense, such as driving/operating machinery or FPS games like csgo or so on. I can spend hours upon hours just zoned in practicing things. I always hear how INTP or N types are "in their heads" or "lost in thought" and wonder how that expresses itself? Because I can definitely daydream, but I don't lose track of what's going on around me ever. Do you ever find you just kind of disappeared in space-time while you're thinking?
@@d1ssolv3r yeah you’re description fits ISTP well. For me, getting lost in space time is often when using Ne, someone will say something in passing and I’ll find a way to connect it to 10 different things, from a movie we recently watched, to quotes from philosophers, to other friend’s experiences. Sometimes when I’m less chatty I’ll accidentally do this mid conversation and need for them to repeat what they just said because I was busy drawing parallels 😆 Also to relate to when daydreaming about a video game, say a platform fighter, I’ll wonder “if I approach with this attack is it safe on block?” “If I use this move for maneuvering am I put in a disadvantageous state?” I’ll write down all my questions then go test them in training. Once they’re confirmed, I assimilate them into my mental flow chart of options and practice using them.
@@Nick_Leo That's pretty interesting, I definitely draw connections from when people say things but it's kind of on the back burner versus what they're actually saying or what I'm thinking I can do with the information they're providing, or how I can reply to have them expand upon it. Although sometimes when people drone on about things I don't have a direct interest in I can definitely zone out and just hit them with 100 "yeah.. that's crazy" replies lol, which feels kind of rude but I can't really help it - it's like my brain can't focus on their mumbling as it doesn't pertain to me or something I want to know. The writing down questions and then testing them in training is definitely something I wouldn't do, I never make lists or write things down really I just try to keep it mentally, but I probably forget quite a lot of ideas from doing that. That does sound very Si though which makes sense for INTP - making lists and observations from your Ne ideas and then testing them out to see what sticks. I think I would normally research what other people have already done and try to assimilate that directly into what I do when it comes to gaming. I end up watching a heap of informative videos for that reason, I always need new data (for anything). I'm also pretty ADHD (inattentive not hyperactive) so I definitely feel you on that lol
You can imagine it this way. They both share the same judging functions and prioritize them accordingly but they perceive the world differently. They take in different information and perhaps reach similar conclusions. But probably not since they examine different things. I work with an ISTP and i can see he cares to look at other things and sometimes gets bogged down by the realism (Se) of certain instances without giving a chance to try new things (Ne).
I am an INTP, but I can often pick out details that are "off" or out of place. I also do well in sudden high stress situations: collect data, analyze, develop a course of action, and execute quickly. However, I have problems operating under stress for prolong periods.
I guess i can be both. Years ago i was INTP and in recent years i tried again and i got ISTP. I think work environment and social interactions changed me.
ISTPs tend to be quite intuitive due to tertiary Ni, which can lead to being mistyped as INTP as most MBTI test focuses on your behavior than cognitive functions. I highly suggest you take a cognitive function test like Micheal Carloz test, this should be more accurate.
@@PsychologyRefresh Well, there are times that I am an ISTP based on its description and sometimes an INTP. But I'm more of an ISTP due to me being a spontaneous person and a "Do first before think" type

I think descriptions are way too harsh on the ISTP sometimes making them seem like cavemen, but tertiary Ni is actually very deep and adds a strong N-side to the ISTP
ISTP can be a scientist ! ISTPs are comfortable applying complex formulas to solve real-world problems. Their approach is pragmatic: they seek efficient and functional solutions for real-world issues. While INTPs are less interested in the practical application of formulas. They prefer creating new theories and delving into unexplored domains. Sciences, such as mathematics and physics, are inherently tied to logic. They rely on logical principles and mathematical models to explain the world around us.
This video is even more confusing me than i am already am. I am not even sure anymore whether I am an intp or an istp. What you say some of the differences between them are confusing, like some making them to doubt whether I am wn istp

There is no "in between". Of course everyone is a bit of everything to a ertain extent, but the fact that you are writing this and didn't come to a conclusion or analyze it further in detail but expected rather a fast result clearly shows, that you are an ISTP. An INTP wouldn't really come to such a solution usually.
