  • @d3xmeister
    @d3xmeister 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    I got the SRPG37, put it on a quality vintage black leather strap. I am impressed, in reality this watch is just perfect. Looking at the reviews, I expected to be bothered by a few things: the thickness, the metal numbers with no lume (my plan was to lume them), the crown at 3, and the crystal.
    I was wrong about all, I could see it the instant I put it on my wrist, all the choices made sense, the way this watch wears and looks is just awesome. I would not change a thing. I’m a fan and owner of all the older Seiko field watches (and many many other Seikos) and I love them but I have tho say this is the nicest watch Seiko put out in the lower end since their SKX in 1996. I am blown away and never dreamed this would become my favorite watch.

    I've had the khaki one for around a month now (UK) and I love it. At first I wasn't sure of the colour as I always think field/military = green or black but I love the colour combo on the face of the khaki one and prefer the inverted day/date. I reckon it would look gorgeous on a distressed brown leather NATO strap.

    Good God! Slow down. You say you are going fast on purpose. Why? You show the watches and when your camera focuses you take the watch off screen. You don't mention the numerals, barely show the green watch which shows the most that the titanium numerals differ in light, just say it's green and you're not enthused with it because of that. Relax, pull your camera back, show them all on screen at once and then compare them. Just a friendly suggestion.

    Whats with this “40mm... right in the middle”...? No... 40mm is massive.... the “watch people” who buy these, are driving away new watch owners that dont want a fridge on their wrist.... 38, is right in the middle.... 42 is MAX... 40 is still large IMO.

    I know it's less practical, but these would look so much better without the day/date window in my book. It kinda irks me when watches have numeral indices and the date eats one of the numbers. Still, great looking watches, no doubt.

    • @Mister_Phafanapolis
      @Mister_Phafanapolis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many field watches out there without a date or day. I appreciate that these do have that (very practical) feature.

    • @fwfiojhq3
      @fwfiojhq3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Combined day/date window is one of the five features Seiko 5 watches got their names for. These field watches would indeed look way better without day/date, but then just not a Seiko Five anymore.

    • @PatrickAnderson-vh7hv
      @PatrickAnderson-vh7hv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fwfiojhq3 Yes, that's true. That being said, I'm pretty sure one of the 5 design principles behind Seiko 5 also was a crown at 4 o'clock, something these don't have, which is interesting. But I totally get you. It's kind of a staple of Seiko with the day and date window.

    I really wanted to get back into watches about 5 years ago so after watching TGV and your channel among some others I decided it was definitely going to be a Seiko after considering an skx and a field watch I went with the SNZG15J1 and of course it's a "strap monster" so naturally I caught the nato strap bug and bought several different colours, the 2 different styles of Bond straps, a marine Nationale NDC, that TGV has a lot to answer for lol but now it's on a nice thick black rally style strap and that's the strap that has made the watch imo, I could not get the skx out of my system though so naturally I now own one of those as well, I say all that to say this lol, the watches on the leather straps are my favourite of the bunch

    Geez, if I wanted a Hamilton I'd just get a Hamilton. And I don't want a Hamilton. To me, these new dials don't look nearly as good as the ones on the SNK-800's. I don't like the new 5 logo. 40mm is better for me than 37. Other than the size, and the 4r35 movment -- change is bad. EDIT: Actually, a Hamilton 992b would be great -- last of the red-hot railroad watches! -- but a new Hamilton? Meh.
