longislandwatc...
Thank you for watching.
Great stuff, especially the last two on leather. In all my 78 years, I never once thought that someday I would look forward eagerly to the next visit from a watch salesman.
LOL, thank you.
@@islandwatch Hey, what the material or finishing the hour number marker on srpg37 (black) & srpg35(tan)? Are they paint or some kind a silver metal on srpg37 an tan metal on srpg35?
I got the SRPG37, put it on a quality vintage black leather strap. I am impressed, in reality this watch is just perfect. Looking at the reviews, I expected to be bothered by a few things: the thickness, the metal numbers with no lume (my plan was to lume them), the crown at 3, and the crystal.
I was wrong about all, I could see it the instant I put it on my wrist, all the choices made sense, the way this watch wears and looks is just awesome. I would not change a thing. I’m a fan and owner of all the older Seiko field watches (and many many other Seikos) and I love them but I have tho say this is the nicest watch Seiko put out in the lower end since their SKX in 1996. I am blown away and never dreamed this would become my favorite watch.
"in reality this watch is just perfect."
that's why Seiko it's loved, because he know to provide the best design, the decent movement at the most affordable price...very good Seiko !!!
The leather with silver case looksss soooo good!
I've had the khaki one for around a month now (UK) and I love it. At first I wasn't sure of the colour as I always think field/military = green or black but I love the colour combo on the face of the khaki one and prefer the inverted day/date. I reckon it would look gorgeous on a distressed brown leather NATO strap.
I was shrugging in indifference until I saw the last two, then I started adding them to the potential buy list
LOL. Ok!
@@islandwatch hi Mark. I need some help/advice on my first screw down watch 🙏
I just bought a Seiko Mini Turtle and I’m having problem trying to screw the crown back down.
The problem is when I try to screw the crown back down it mostly will stuck in the middle and I will have to unscrew and try again. I will screw but I just can’t seem to do it easily. Now the crown felt a bit stiff/grainy when i screw it down. Do I need to worry about it or is it just fine? PLEASE HELP ME 🙏😰
The blue distressed one reminds me slightly of the new Seiko alpinists.
Yeah, it does.
I was thinking the same thing. Would have loved a green with gilt.
dude, ikr?!
been calling it the alfivnist or al5nist since it launched
Good morning Marc. Nice watches and I'm retired military and may have to check these out. Thank you.
Thanks!
I just ordered an SRPG37 from you yesterday, and I CAN'T WAIT to get it! I had such a good experience ordering my SRPD27 Seiko automatic diver's watch (also with a 4R36 movement, BTW!) from you guys that I ordered the new, Seiko field watch too... :)
Green dials are my favorite. I have the SNK805, just ordered the SRPG33, and I've got the Seiko super turtle with the green grenade dial finish. I find them very legible, and eye catching
Nice review. I could sense your excitement in getting these into your shop! I think 39 is my pick.
Thanks Mark for your video regarding the Military Seiko 5 40mm , it was due to your informative presentation that l chose the Sand coloured NATO and cream / black watch face with bead blasted case.
I've changed the strap to a Olive green distressed canvas from Page and Cooper and it's not left my wrist since purchasing it early Dec last year !
Your review is excellent and Intresting and l thank you so much for this !
Keep them comming regards Sam
The last one is my favorite. I love the dark stonewashed finish of the case, and I want to get that one with Japanese Kanji date options.
Sweet update!!! I like the distressed ones!
Thanks!
Really appreciate your honesty and insight into these watches. Lots to like for sure. I like the one with the blue dial and Goldie numerals.👍🇺🇸👍
SRPG41 is definitely my favorite of the batch.
Gorgeous CWC better eatch out & Hamilton another lovely review Mark ! 😄🌫️☕️
I can definitely see myself picking one of these up some time in the future
Bought one--great watch. Slightly fast--the way it should be. Made in Japan--a definite plus. Better than Tissot which costs more money. Nato straps are the best--sweat into it a little in summer and it's more comfortable and more durable than leather. Right size, classic military 40 mm. Home run for Seiko.
Sounds great, thank you.
Seiko saying kiss my bonbons Hamilton. I’m with you, the Khaki color is the king here. Would have preferred the SNK sizing but I guess the 4r is a thicker movement and the case would have looked out of proportion if smaller.Overall a great design.
@VeteranPilothow so? Just curious.
Great looking watches. However, as others have said, I wish they could also bring out a military style watch with the original SNK80 dial design but in 39 or 40mm and with the upgrade to the NH36.
I couldnt pick one of these over the Islander field watches, although I have to admit that Seiko have done a nice job of matching cases with straps and dials
I got the blue dial leather strap and love it!
I really like these watches Marc, but come on Seiko for what you are charging and still no sapphire!!! nice review ...stay safe
Makes the LIW field watch _that_ much more appealing
@@Mister_Phafanapolis Agreed
The Marathon GPM has the same movement, a sapphire crystal and tritium lume for a comparable price. Sure, it has its own shortcomings, but come on.
Seiko should offer more for the price.
I know!
Love the green one, just got one for myself!👌
So when is the aftermarket long island bracelet coming out?!
LOL. Not yet.
@@islandwatch Wouldn't this take the same strap as the SRPE's?

Threw my SNK805 on a nice brown leather strap and it looks amazing, I would say one of my best-lookers. I would still go SNK-line if you really want to go Seiko... This is a great looking watch, but %150 surcharge is a lot for hacking, handwinding and the extra WR with no screw-down crown. Plus the SNK aesthetic is more interesting, still.
Just got the blue dail gold numbers and leather strap one I love it!! Super nice
Hi. How long does a luminophore glow? Does it make sense to give it to the master for rework or the factory one is enough for the whole night?
Great vid Marc! You answered a question raised from other reviews - the bracelet versions are partly polished cases which is too bad. Was going to get the black dial bracelet'd version and pop on a nato (while having the bracelet for those times I wanted to dress it up) but not interested in polished.
That 2nd last one is going to be my next watch. Toss the leather and put it on a black nato and it's never going to leave my wrist, SRPG39.
Just ordered the SRPG37! I'm a first time customer to LIW and this is also going to be my first watch.
These look great, I'm still adjusting to the Seiko 5 logo. I'm not sure how I feel about the thickness, the best part of the SNK8's is the value and how thin and light they are. I bought a couple SNK80*'s in different colors to stash in my collection when I heard they were getting the ax.
Really digging the SRPG39
Thanks.
Putting the green dail aside, I like all other versions are interesting, I would have loved a withe dail. I'll be buying 1 from you Mark.
White would get my vote too.
Nice that Seiko finally updated the movement. The one with gold hands would look good with the tan strap but the leather is ok too. Too bad you can’t get it that way. 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for sharing them Marc! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching.
Love the black dial with the sand coloured strap.
Islander watch for the win👏
Now we're basically at the situation in wich Marc has beaten Seiko in their own game.
Not even Seiko managed to offer as much as the Islander field watches.
TBH, these are great field watches but but I believe Islander field watches are greater :)
I just wish the ISL-40 or ISL-42 would come back in stock. They've been on my wishlist for a while.
Agree, Marc gives us hand winding + hacking and sapphire crystals front and back. Seiko should at least give everyone a sapphire crystal for that price point.
I'm very excited by these, but I do miss the slightly recessed 4 o'clock crown, I loved that about the SNK80X series. That being said the drilled holes are a huge bonus, as I'd probably slap a NATO on that immediately lol. Great video though!
Yes, that tucked away crown was a bonus.
Wasn't the 4 o'clock crown one of the five things in "Seiko 5?"
Thanks for showing the full line-up, Mark! What is the water resistance on these? 50m?
100m
Nice update from the Seiko snzg!!!
Yes!
50k is drawing nearer. Congrats!!
Great watch I like it a lot but no champagne/sand dial 😭 if you make a small batch for the isl 40 I am all for it when they will be restocked
Green dial has less reflection cause of it's color. This will be my first Field watch! Green version for me.
Seiko knows what they are doing with these.
Of the lot; I like the grey one the best. Was I seeing applied indices? Looked like it.
Yes, they are. The numbers.
Love the black ones.
I believe the choice for hardlex is because it may be less hard than sapphire, but isn't it stronger? I bel sapphire would shatter easier. These are field watches after all, they're meant to be taken outside on the field.
I really wanted to get back into watches about 5 years ago so after watching TGV and your channel among some others I decided it was definitely going to be a Seiko after considering an skx and a field watch I went with the SNZG15J1 and of course it's a "strap monster" so naturally I caught the nato strap bug and bought several different colours, the 2 different styles of Bond straps, a marine Nationale NDC, that TGV has a lot to answer for lol but now it's on a nice thick black rally style strap and that's the strap that has made the watch imo, I could not get the skx out of my system though so naturally I now own one of those as well, I say all that to say this lol, the watches on the leather straps are my favourite of the bunch
Thanks for watching.
Handsome watch.
Are you going to offer sapphire crystals to mod and upgrade these watches eventually, preferably als slightly single domed ones?
How come these have the crown at 3 o'clock when one of the 5 key attributes of a Seiko 5 is a recessed crown at the four o’clock position?
Are you gonna have the option of a sapphire crystal upgrade on this one???
I can't beat the Day date and the glass bottom.
Great video. A lot of details. Thx a lot!
Have a couple of military watches, have three adina watches that are similar design, great watches easy to read.
9:05 this looks so spinnakerish. i like it. thanks for the review
Just put my order in, great content. I hope to buy more that you review soon.
SRPG39 is the best one....
They're interesting watches for sure, better looking than the SNZG1x series. I love the black day/date wheel and the unmarked chapter ring ... If only the SRPE line was like that.
Excellent video, Marc.
Can't have everything :)
@@islandwatch ain't that the truth ... :)
I wish the one with the Sand Colored Strap had a red seconds tip
very great detailed information
thank you
You’re welcome
The non-PVD Lizard strap one is very elegant and classic looking. Reminds me of Presage or Alpinist line in a 5. Very nice.
Yes, alpinist inspired.
Marc, I think they are trying to compete with the islander field watches.
There's more value and specs on the islanders
Does the nylon one have a display back because I'm thinking of getting one thanks 👍
Thanks for doing this video bubba!
Good morning Mark! I was trying to change the battery on my watch, and a little 'battery cover', like a little metal 'v shape' that was on top of the battery to hold it in place, it popped out! Now I don't know how to pop it back in. Do you have any ideas? Thanks!
I like the desert sand style, quite like the destressed looking one too, something different
Yup
Looks great but my wrist is small, so i picked up the smaller version of this model sbsa201
Thank you good job
I think that last watch with a nylon strap would be a total winner. Maybe a black or navy NATO. How many millimeters is that strap?
If you want a Seiko go for it, I think the 13.5mm thick is very sloppy watchmaking(nevermind the bracelet), you could pick up a Islander field watch with better specs for 86$ less.
About one mm of that is dome.
Awesome! Wish they all had the red tip second hand though. Might have to pick one up
Noted.
Mark thinking about your ISL range of watches y out of must try using your logo as the 12 hour marker, it will stand out from the rest and lumed could look fantastic. What the harm in giving it a go?
Yes!!!!! Finally
Woo hoo
7:12
That green for him was too MASH.
I like the first one you showed! 👍
Good choice!
Nice! The blue on the leather gives me an S5 alpinist vibe? Might be the camera or my small phone screen. Just a thought.
Alpinist, yes. You aren't the only one.
@@islandwatch fixed my typo. :)
Nicest of the new seiko 5s yet
Thanks.
Green on a chocolate strap is supreme!
Ok so I've watched this a couple of times now and I want one ....... but your military watches are nice too. Bugger I don't know which one to get now.
Maybe both ... the wife doesnt need to know. 😅
Are the sand colored ones less bright in the dark?
Beautiful pieces! Would you happen to know if the SPREs ("DressKXs") bracelet work on these?
Oh nice! Might have to get one of these to go alongside my SNZG.😂
Cool!
Hi Sir Mark, good day!!! i got the srpg35, which has the sand blasted case (and sand colored lume). If i have the case brushed/polished, will it end up looking like the case of the srpg27? Cuz, i kinda like the brushed/polished look better. Hope you can shed some light on this query of mine. Thanks in advance!!!😃
What are your thoughts on the quality of the bracelet?
That distressed look is called stonewashed. These are some very nice watches and I may just have to pick one up from you!
Looks more satin finish
Nice. For military style, should have more lume though...
Noted
I really like the SRPG, but how does it compare to the SRPH?
Nice looking watches, no sapphire (it’s better) no problem for me, I don’t mind Hardlex, anything on the giveaways? Just wondering 🤔 thanks Marc
How do you like these as compared to Hamilton Khakis?
Debating on getting one of these or the timex expedition north 38…
What are your top 2?
Will these be a new model for modders? Does the dial fit into the SKX or the SRPD cases?
PVD distressed on grey nylon might be an interesting combination (or on perlon), but 37mm and much thinner.
Great point!
This watch already exist is a Khaki Field mechanical pvd …
The distressed finish you mention is done by vibra tumbling.
What’s the crystal made of ? 40mm is the perfect size
Very nice indeed 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Now I got both black and green NATO version!
Do you have a sapphire crystal for this?
