Yes! I live in a tourist area of coastal New South Wales. In some seaside villages, every second home is empty. As we have just been asked to leave our rental because I dared to ask for the gutters to be cleaned as our home is in a fire prone area and asked if I could pay for a front screen door as a first defence against home invasion, within days I was asked to leave when my lease is up. I have a daughter battling cancer, a son with diabetes doing all the work, my daughter's teenage son looking after his mum through the night. There are few houses and many homeless. What the hell can I do to put a roof over my family's head? At 72, I am too old for this shit. The government I volunteered to elect has let us down. Housing Commision home raised Albanese has been the biggest disappointment, politically, of my life. How do I get these stickers?
The landlords don't care , most of them don't have kids and are least empathetic , you know who ...we have let people with no faith to rule over us, we have made this country a mess , its a greed house with Feudal landlords prey over the weak and neddy....we need to fight back for our future generations , I have two daughters and I have been to NCAT twice , I don't care , I will fight with these Feudals till my last breath , may their greed be their curse
Awesome! I've been wild about the 16 apartment block near the Alfred everyone was kicked out of in 2021. The redeveloper went broke and have now been empty so long they're unliveable because of collapsing roofs. Insane waste of affordable housing in a very central area. Will come in for a poster.
@@UziMusic they definitely were when they kicked everyone out but it doesn't look like it anymore, there's a massive hole in the roof where the tiles have caved in and the windows are either smashed or completely boarded up. ETA the doors are boarded too
My area in South east Melbourne, is cheap enough now for people to buy and hold instead of renting them out. It's frustrating thats for sure. And they go for over 600k so the rent can't pay the mortgage either.
That mansion in Albert Park was a rooming house. It has since been sold and is awaiting planning permission to be turned into a single family home. Get your facts straight…
Make sure no ONE is squatting in it first. Solidarity, but I don't do this. I live interstate and any abandoned homes for me and my mates to live or squat in
Dude. You might have good intentions but this is going to backfire hard against us. There's a reason we keep potential squat locations quiet ffs. But i get it, you're young and havent been around the scene for very long
Whilst I agree more should be done for the homeless; ypu actually don't know why that house is empty. Maybe the owner passed away and the house is now going through the legal hoops to be sold. I would also be fine with squaters if they didn't trash the place or use the utilities that the landlord would have to pay for (not all landlords/property owners are rich) or refuse to leave when told to.
If you're a landlord you have a responsibility to your tenants, and in a housing crisis you also have a responsibility to society. I'd be surprised if more than 5% of the homes had the issues you specified. The majority of them are owned by land bankers.
‘If its empty, we want to seize them’ I have no issues with additional tax to entice people not to leave houses empty, but keep your hands off other peoples belongings! They own the house, they can do with it what they please within the boundaries of the law. Its absolutely ridiculous mentality to think you can seize someone elses belongings because you dont like what they are doing with it, where do you draw the line with this type of insanity?
We already tried your approach of doing nothing. Usually govt policy is changed when there is significant population drawing attention to it. This will force the govts hand to make it unviable to hold onto homes and land vacant for 2 years+ one way or another
Great work 👏 🎉

Big respect. Houses are for people not profits.

Are you talking about Faulkner mansions across the road on corner punt/commercial?
@UziMusic no, on the other side of Fawkner Park next to the big synagogue there
@@Alice_Walker wow, is it habitable??

Human Rights Day 10 December. Why are we marching for homeless and renters around Australia.
Nice idea
Do you have a movement for this in Sydney? Plenty of empty terrace houses in prime locations could use some cute yellow stickers x
Sydney belongs to Ray White....they would put you in jail
@asimb88 should redesign the "empty home" posters to look just like Ray White signs 😅
excellent Idea...purplepingers , please notice
Ayyy good work

A yellow sticker/poster won't do any harm.

i feel like this in particular will just attract drug addicts and violent criminals

Brother, it's insanity to have such a large portion of the population homeless when homes like this sit vacant. Where are your priorities sir?
