@@mpzeng the octaves are no joke but you can drill them, plus tempo is flexible -- you're not accompanying anybody after all! Meanwhile, no amount of work on the Erlkonig sections has made it feel easier or more consistent IME. The enormous jumps, particularly in the first section, are hard at any tempo because both hands are doing them!
It is my happy good fortune to hear Khatia Buniatishvili’s interpretation of the oh so spooky “Der Erlkönig”. My boundless admiration for her musical talents overflows. Bravo, Diva!
Thank goodness for Liszt Transcriptions, who enabled through his seven year tour through every hamlet in Europe and Russia, giving over a thousand concerts for those unfortunate, who never had the chance to go hear symphonies or opera..works from Bach to Chopin...
I play the piano, not like that. She is amazing. To play certain styles I had to step up my practice exercises to strengthen my fingers. I wonder how much she needs rehearse to play that beautiful number. I am just blown away by her. ❤
Very bouncy arrangement with a very dramatic stop to the ending. Wonderful as always and true to the nature of what was taught to be interpreted. Bravo piano maestro, bravo. 🥳
Wenn man der Khatia als Teenqger zusammen mit Prof. Sogny mal beim Üben in der Meisterklasse zugehört hat, weiß man, woher sie ihre Genialität angeregt bekam.

@@vivianseemer5274 Tell that to someone whose first exposure to Erlkönig is this video. Can they tell that this is a song about a father trying to save his son (and then some)?! Well I don't speak German, so the original lyrics are already meaningless to me, unless translated. Lyrics aren't a necessary component of musical storytelling.
Firstly, a musician is allowed to interpret a piece as they would like. There are numerous examples of this, the same piece played at different tempos, but clearly your knowledge of classical music is limited. Secondly, it is NOT just about the music. That's like saying public speaking is just about the words. But it's not; it's about the intonation, the eye contact, the stage command and the delivery. Listening to a recording of a piece and watching someone perform it well are two very different sensations. Lastly, since you can critique the performance of a World Class, World Renowned, Decorated pianist, kindly share with us your list of musical accomplishments or better yet, just tell us your name so we can Google you and see the impact you have had on the musical world. If you can't, stop spreading unnecessary negativity and go be miserable somewhere else. I'm sick of you losers.
Very impressive and some beautiful things - but this staccato, senza pedale effect for the Erlkonig's voice is simply impossible! As usual, the calculated facial expressions are unbearable.
The hardest part of this piece for me is always the Erlking's voice, and she does an incredible job with it
But I think she did not play Erlking’s voice lyrical enough
No the hardest part is the repeated octaves and getting through the first 2.5 pages without giving yourself tendinitis.
However as shes cheats and plays 2nds and 3rds instead of octaves in much of it, it makes it much easier.

She made this look mindblowingly easy....from the beginning she just killed it. The voicing is amazing and it looks effortless.
She is the best and from Georgia❤️ We are so proud of her

Maravilhosa! Um gênio!
Virtuoso!
The last two words of the song: "War Tot"......"Was Dead". A child. Father riding desperately to save his life.
The father ignored everything the child said and told him his concerns didn’t matter, gaslighting him all the way to his death. Fuck this guy.
fabulous!!!
where's the date and venue listed for this performance, dammit!
It's from the recital given in 2013, Verbier festival. Venue is Verbier Church.
Fabulosa!
Amazing playing lol❤😊
Uzasne, breathtaking.
Greetings to you, dear Paul.
Yours sincerely,

Yaja Wang faisait disparaître Schubert ici il revient sauf dans les passages du roi ou je ne comprend pas le cotè mutin absent de Goethe et Schubert.
Mamma mia!
She has 10 extra fingers hiding some ware
Wahnsinn!

Lookin good in the neighborhood....of the graveyard. LOL.
Is one of the string broken on the piano? What is that higher pitch noise @0:01?
Сказочно хорошо!
...schade, zu viel Salon...(was ihr eigentlich fremd ist!)
So I have this music and I don’t see the opening hair flip in the score….

Ok dinosaur. Open your ears.
This piece is meaningless without the lyrics (Goethe's heart-wrenching poem) and the singer doing four different characters' voices!
You're meaningless
A good pianist can communicate those four different characters through tone and dynamic

rather fast and somewhat too gimmickry.... it is about the music, it should not look like an ad for Panteen hair shampoo
My thoughts exactly.
You're high. And presumably bald.
Bro exactly 'it is about music' you should listen to it but you are focusing on her hair instead. why are you so pressed lol
God forbid a woman have healthy hair 🙄🙄
