The priests dont need to kill zombies just to get their blessings up or to get their crucifix meter up. They just do it on their own. Medics on the other hand, it may be free but, you have a limited amount of heals. Once that runs out, you have to go out of your comfort zone and have to enter combat zone just to get your heals back up. This also implies when you place down box of bandages

Personally, how I (nearly) got old guard was simply playing as a fifer in the back on hougoumont with lots of seamen and sappers and surgeons as the front liners, so basically our player list was like 4 line infantry 1 officers like 7 seamen 1 musician (me) and 3 sappers and like idk 4 chaplains and medics
All maps have more escape routes. It’s just that all you need to find out about all of them is: it’s better to understand the map, find which buildings have windows that you can jump through and use brain so as not to get yourself into a trap. Ready! Now you can easily escape from the shambler and make your own escape route

Yeah, Igniters were a true nightmare, they were able to melt the barricades in seconds and easily deal a LOT of damage if you was in the fire (there wasn't that burning alive mechanic then).

runners are also easily killed in one swing or shot, so you can easily deal with them by not freezing and swing on time before they get you
