I read this event at least 10 times when I was a kid
Back when comics were awesome !!! Great review !
i got the propaghandi joke
I think probably the rollerblading is the most '90s thing of this event.
They sold that pack at Walmart. Which is why so many of us have this . Our parents hooked us UP. 😊 and helped continue or start so many comics fan journeys
Oh yeah, the Walmart comic packs. Man, there were some good ones in there back in the day!
Did you do the Fatal Attractions crossover? If not, can you? I used to love that story as a kid . Messiah Complex was good, too.
@matthewschwartz6607 I've covered both Fatal Attractions and Messiah Complex. You can find them both in my X-Men breakdowns playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLTWoYiBPhjEA0qahbQ-9dgk9TR5miM_dy.html
Professor X: greetings fellow kids!
Aw thanks, Ramsey's mom!
I came here for the nostalgia factor
Same here, but the guys disdain for the 90s (references, mocking the characters' gear of pockets, guns, more pockets, more guns) was not cool.
Overall, nice trip down memory lane.
@@johncampbell1191 ha ha ha yeah, I took it as exaggerated showing of those times 😆when one is a kid seemed cool to wear wide pants with lots of pockets I never used 😆😆😆😆
X-men executioner is super confusing crossover in my opinion.
It meanders a bit.
@@Jerel_con_jota indeed it does meander a bit.
Maybe it happened in age of apocalypse crossover with strife but I don’t remember.
That would be a reasonable guess, though that would be confusing since that was basically an alternate timeline that never happened but also did? I think the idea was to allude to a story about stryfe in the future that I'm not sure they ever ended up doing, but, again, I could be wrong.
@@CaptainAway that’s true and you’re right about that and honestly both options could be valid given strife as a character is really not that interesting in my opinion.
Your Stargate references restore my faith in fictional humanity
Great videos, my friend. Particularly enjoy your Infinity/cosmic Marvel and X-Men vids. Would you consider doing classic Avengers events? Also, look forward to seeing stuff like the Muir Island Saga, Mutant Genesis, etc! Cheers
I wish Marvel would publish a collection for the Muir Island Saga. They don't seem to have one yet. I absolutely need to cover mutant Genesis, though. The Avengers is definitely a series I've been wanting to get to. Maybe I can look into that this year (also stay tuned for what should be my next video if you're looking for some Avengers)
I got it! And next week apocalypse does the ascension! Becoming a being of pure energy! While kicking Scott through a wormhole!
Love it! Need more sg1 appreciation in my life.
Possibly Maybe- Bjork. 😎🤘🏾 Your music references will never slip past me 😏😁...also, I was buying these as a kid as they were coming out . 😊
I loved the story when it came out back in the day. All those characters in big story. I still read it every now and then
Oh my God I had the same problem with Bishop and Cable. In my defense they're both Terminatoring really hard.
Oh Havok you and Klingons have so much in common
Us and Arnold Rimmer
My mom bought me this as a collected book when I was a kid. Archangel accidently cutting off someone's head was 👌
Oh My ONE ABOVE ALL 😅 back in the day they were at convenience stores, a pack with many of these titles
😳 😟 😔 My parents (+) didn't have money 💩😭
This was just the coolest thing for my 12 year old self
Great video
I’m so glad I found you! Easily the most engaging speaker I’ve ever heard on comics. Long time x-fan, and you really do a great job recreating all these stories. Is love at first listening a thing?
I got the propaghandi joke!
BRO I have that same storage box! Two of them. Yeah, I got comic bundles with it too.
And both bishop and cable have a thing over one eye.. I totally get it
13:35
For you, it was funny and um..i guess a learning moment?
For 15 year olds like myself when this story came out, these 3, all on the same page, battling it out... my God was that fan service...
They should have killed Moira so the timeline resets 🤣
Pow zoom ... to the moon is how it goes.
I got that Propagandhi reference. So that's two of us at least.
Hope you're having a good day
Ok I said fvxk it Lemmi give captain away a shot. VERY IMPRESSED!!! gained a sub.
Propaghandi reference eh?
I am full of them
empire to ashes reference as well
Stargate joke? Cool
(7:00) Mutants crashing in early 1990s West Texas is not ideal. Well, at least they didn't crash in Mississippi.
I’m a kid of the 90s and growing up I hated Jae Lee’s art and still do today
I mean, that's fair. Like I say in the video, I don't necessarily consider his art the best here. There's a lot I dislike about his art, but some of the style he exhibits here is at least interesting. I mostly know him as a cover artist and I think that's how I prefer seeing his work.
Are you going to do Phalanx Covenant?
I would love to, but not sure when I'll get to it. I usually end up covering X-Men around December/January, just to make sure I get some in each year, so if nothing else I'll be sure to cover it then.
@@CaptainAway thanks I’ll keep an eye out for it next year
propagandhi jokes straight kill for me
Prop a Gand 😂
Jae Lee was a GRADE A Jim Lee impersonator!
This series is what made me stop collecting comics in the 90s. It was the definition of style over substance. A huge boondoggle.
The cool-down issue was amazing, though.
You’re complaining the entire time while we are trying to watch the story. Give it a rest already. Your jokes are trash and you’re ruining it. Be like Rob from Comics explained and just narrate the story.
My mom bought me this as a collected book when I was a kid. Archangel accidently cutting off someone's head was 👌
