His art from the 80s does tend to bother me less. I feel like it was in the 90s that he really started leaning into the block shapes that I've come to hate about his art.
Yeah, it is. I remember AoA feeling like it went on forever when it was coming out and I guess that's why I think of Onslaught as feeling so far away. But AoA actually wasn't nearly as long as I seem to remember.
Back in 1998, when I was first getting into Marvel comics, I was able to find a tpb of Bloodties included in a 3 pack of tpb's which also included the first Gambit mini and a gold foil Legion Quest at a local bookstore. Also the next crossover you should examen should be "Operation Galactic Storm", the only place imo that Carol Danvers shined between 1981 and 1998.
I just knew someone was gonna get after me about that. Originally I actually did write a reference to them but decided to go with something silly (well, sillier. The GLA are pretty silly already).
A huge mistake a lot of you make when it comes to Samuel Jackson, Nick fury is that y’all make the mistake of thinking that that’s the same fury as the one in the comics and it’s not the version of Nick fury that Samuel Jackson plays it’s actually Nick fury Junior, Nick fury, son. The original Nick fury killed the water in order to steal his eyes and he was punished for this and his punishment was. He became a watcher called the unseen if you don’t believe me go and look up Marvel comics the unseen, and you’ll see exactly who the unseen is.
I've read Original Sin, I remember Nick becoming the Watcher. Partly Nick Fury Jr. came about because the Nick Fury in the Ultimate Universe was modeled on Samuel L. Jackson, and that version became so popular that they essentially "moved" him over to the 616 universe (by creating a new character who was essentially the same thing). I'm familiar with the complicated history of Nick Fury, I just never liked classic Nick Fury. All of this was what I was referencing with what was supposed to be a joke.
It’s because jr jr can draw a story. Theres many great artist who draw cool hero’s standing around but jr jr tells a story well. You’re better off a decent artist that can tell a story instead of a great artist drawing people that look cool standing around. Obviously both is better but jr jr Spider-Man era felt special. Lol it wasn’t so much the look but the feel if that makes sense. 😂
That's a great argument. I think I totally get that. That might be why I still kind of like his work during the JMS run on Amazing despite not liking him as an artist overall.
This art style by JR jJr was what I used to call "wood block carvings".
That's it exactly!
I just discovered your channel. Awesome content. You brought back a lot of memories with your X-Men vids, especially the Claremont run.
Glad you like them!
Love the older content on this channel! Keep doing it, I'll keep watching and liking!
I enjoyed JRJR's run of Daredevil.

Xavier's wrath at Exodus and the mutates.
Is another foreshadow of Onslaught.
That's a good point. I don't know why I always forget that onslaught is so close to this time period.
@@CaptainAwayAnd just before that. The Age of Apocalypse.
X Man, Holocaust, Dark Beast, Sugar daddy.
That universe is a trip.
