    CX-9 might be decadent for 2 kids, but when you have 3 kids like me the third row is a lifesaver on long trips.

    Have a GT for a year now, with 3 kids under 3 and love it, the space available is great, tried dif configurations with baby seats but it's easier to have 3 across middle but I like the rear seats have the option for them. Would recommend.

      @@cotes42 I have 3 britex safe and sound seats, two rear facing (outer seats with isofix) and forward facing in middle (seatbelt tethered) extra seats in back have anchor points too..

    Good practical review with information that buyers actually need. With regard to seating capacity, it makes me laugh that we used to put at least 10 people in the Kingswood Station Wagon in absolute comfort and decadence. Ah the seventies...

    What’s the best option for someone who needs two car seats + grandma in the middle? I can’t find this anywhere. Watched all of TH-cam 😅

    We have just upgraded from Ford territory titanium and I love the cx9. With 4 growing boys this is the kind of size we need. Just want to know how you got the car to be sitting at under 11kms/100 as I'm sitting closer to 14 at the moment?

    • @matttulkster
      @matttulkster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      same as mine and I have the LE too and I also noticed the fuel range changes when I picked it up was 523km per tank now its close to 500

    • @JohnSmith-nz4bn
      @JohnSmith-nz4bn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Looking as far ahead as possible instead of the car in front will reduce the amount of braking and subsequent acceleration.
      Lifting off as soon as you see the lights switch from green, at night this helps particularly well as you can see the other lights and if you see them turn red you know it's three seconds before yours are green.
      Rolling on to the accelerator and brake instead of treating them light switches.
      Biggest saver for me, is turning off the aircon when not needed and or when using the heater. This one alone is between 80-90km extra range for my car on a high run between Brisbane and Townsville per tank.
      Hopefully that helps 😊

    • @matttulkster
      @matttulkster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnSmith-nz4bn The air con has eco mode so that is meant to cover the fuel and make the air con run lower. In all honesty as long as you set the air con at a reasonable temp and low fan usage it should not matter in fact most cars now days are geared around the running all the time. I think the issues here is the manufacturers are not detailing realistic figures. My CX9 only got 8s on open road driving.

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fantastic car eh, but re your fuel consumption, I can only assume we spent more time on open roads than you. As I noted in the story on site, we managed to squeeze 8.79L/100km out of it at a steady 110km/h. I can certainly imagine the number climbing to 14 if mainly used on urban roads. Still, I reckon you're doing much better than you would in a V6 Kluger, Acadia or Sorento. All the best, Mal Flynn

    • @matttulkster
      @matttulkster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carsguide I drove mine to Canberra and got low 8s but there is no way 11's are realistic for city I have been driving mine really easy this tank and I am sitting on 12.6. The figures Mazda has quoted as 8's are complete BS. Its more then likely between 12-14. I love the car but god I wish Manufacturers would start being realistic on fuel usage figures as most are totally wrong factoring in a combined average. Its still way more efficient that my CX7 which would sit on 17-18's most the time :-)

    I own a CX-9 azami Le and they are wonderful cars great driving experience but if I was a parent and I had a lead foot I would not buy one of these cars these cars are quick lots of low end torque and there faster than the specs may suggest with a few added mods that's just my opinion zoom-zoom🥳🚘. Oh and don't buy white because they're really hard to clean😓

    At 5,075 mm I'd be driving past a few car parks in town. And at 1,969 mm width it would be a bit tight in some car park spaces. Unless you have 3 kids it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

    Rather than go through the boot, if you push the front seat all the way forward the CX-9's second row is designed to go far forward enough and if absolutely required, tilt with an iso fix car seat installed. This ensure you can reach the third row with two car seats installed. It was one way the CX-9 leap frogs similar 7 seaters.

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Glen, True, but getting through the boot is less fiddly and it's still a contortionist job with the rear-facing seat. It does a cracking job of accommodating a broad spread of circumstances though! Cheers, Mal Flynn

      @@carsguide thanks Mal. Great review by the way. The ability to be able to get into third row without getting kids out of middle row was a requirement for our next car. Found the tip from BabyDrive.com.au who does child seat-centric reviews. The reviewer at BabyDrive.com.au tends to mention it in 3 row reviews, and so far only the Mazda's have had their ability to get to 3rd row (for iso fix seats only) with the forward and slight tilt. I am quite large and tall, and the fact I managed it in the CX-9 and CX-8 helped seal the deal.

  • @dhaneshaseneviratneepa6800
    @dhaneshaseneviratneepa6800 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't think you've got the best configuration for the child seats. If you want grandma in the back seat regularly you should put the child seats next to each other and have grandma sit in the corner seat (not squish in to the middle!). The invariably opens up more space as you can squash the 2 child seats together and also makes entry into the third row easy because gradma's seat is not fitted with a child seat!

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's certainly an option, but my preference is to use the two ISOFIX (and therefore more secure) points in the second row. It's only top tether in the middle. Cheers, Mal

      @modernastronomers2596 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      CarsGuide Mal I had my sons baby seat set up by a professional baby seat fitter and she didn’t use the isofix and said they weren’t all they’re meant to be? So I’ve enjoyed the fact they’re hidden now, but I found it a bit odd to be told that.
