Dude! Thank you so much for this video. Great and easy to understand. My daughter asked me to change her oil. Sadly I never had before. Thanks to this video I did it with no issues. I did find out not to pour the oil in the reservoir to fast lol.
Bro much thanks,I was definitely searching for this vid, just bought my Patriot and I heard too many stories about service center not doing their jobs honestly, much appreciated bro bless🙏
Thank you so much! This was extremely helpful. I took some engine courses in college, but it was all just small engine and I haven't used it really. It's so empowering to be able to do these things on your own. 💕
I just paid $76 for an oil change. I requested the high mileage special blend oil....but THIS is all it is? For $76 ??? I can do this!! I heard you can bring old oil to any parts store like and OReillys or Auto zone.....That would be the final chapter..how to get rid of oil. Although farmers will use it to to start fires and other stuff..LOL THANK you for a great video! I am never going back to a franchise oil change place!
Thank you. Yes it is very easy to do it yourself plus you can’t always trust those franchise shops sometimes they use cheaper oil then they say and try to up sell you on everything and yes most of your local auto parts stores take the used oil or the local landfill will take it and recycle it.
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Hey bro I have the same car . I put new oil in it about a month ago before I drove all the way from Colorado to Florida and now I'm scared because the dipstick doesn't show any oil with the engine off
The engine takes 4 and a 1/2 quarts. But what is not taken in account for is the oil that falls in the certain sleeves and the filter itself. So usually four and a half will run pretty close to 5 quarts
yeah there's a lot of variables like temperature of the old oil and how long you let it drain for. So every jeep patriot will be different just have to keep checking the dipstick.
2014 JP I typically pay $45 bucks for an oil change. Although that’s a good price I think they use cheap products and they do a terrible job. I did the OC myself using your guide and I did it in less than an hour no problems.
If Im not wrong, the owners manual says 4.5 quarts because youre supposed to be in the middle of the safe zone. Im learning to take care of my own car. Its a 2013 Jeep Patriot 2.4L.
Yeah you can always trust the manual it’s used as more of a reference. You always want to go off what the dipstick says. But anywhere in the crosshairs on the dipstick and you’ll be safe just don’t want to overfill it. But being right at the top is the best because it’s that much more lubrication your engine is getting.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE awesome. Thank you! I didn’t see a washer when I took it off and I was a bit reluctant on putting it back without one. I didn’t see one on your video either so I chose not to add one. I can sleep easy at night now. Thanks again!
I don't know how you crawled under and comfortably removed the drain bolt and filter. I'm small and the splash guard won't let me under enough to actually see anything.
I’m 6’2” at 248lbs. I can reach under there and get them both. The hardest part is getting the oil filter unscrewed because the numbskull that changed it last time screwed it on to the point where it was fused onto the car lol
@@TheCreatureWorksStudioI ended up wedging myself under and getting er done. I had to go in through the passenger wheelwell to get enough leverage to crack the drain bolt lol, but now that I've done it, I'm sure the next time I do it won't be so difficult. I refuse to pay $110 for an oil change anymore so I'm doing it myself one way or another lol.
Thanks my guy I don’t have a dad nor know who he is and your videos help me out work on our patriot keep doing what your doing man

@@khaoticman3055look for oil leaks, whoever changed the oil probably didnt do a very good job of tightening

Does the drain plug have a washer?
No washer but it does have a rubber oring which is usually intact with the drain plug.

No
Shouldnt we be drenching the filter with oil?
Are you talking about prefilling the filter before putting on?
Yeah, I always do prefill the filter.
No need. Put the recommended amount into the engine and move on. Top off if you need.
What fresh oil did he put on the gasket thing or o ring?
It’s the same oil that you’re going to fill the motor with. Just put a very light amount on the oil filter gasket before screwing it on.
I don't know how you crawled under and comfortably removed the drain bolt and filter. I'm small and the splash guard won't let me under enough to actually see anything.
It’s definitely pretty tight under there.

I just saved myself 150 bucks
If your plug is stuck how do u get it unstuck?
Have you tried using an impact? Hopefully it’s not cross threaded in there. Who did the oil change last?
How do you reset maint light?
I show how to do it towards the end of the video.
Press the gas pedal and not the brake 5 times?
Yes press the gas pedal 5 times really quick.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Worked like a charm Thank you!
So I don’t need to jack up the car ?
No need to if you can reach and fit under there.
🔥👍
U should poke a hole in the oil filter since its coming off anyways
I can’t get the filter off to save my life.
I cant get the plug off to save my life
Pull the plug , and run a quart thru ,my auto mechanics instructor called it cheap insurance. Get more dirt out , for sure
video does not show how to remove drain plug n oil filter
Not sure what video you watched but my video clearly shows how to remove the drain plug starting at 00:42 and the oil filter at 08:46.
Thanks
