      If you’re the best at what you do, you will always get hate.
      Im sure that eddy coan got some hate in his day, Ronnie Coleman towards the end got hate, tiger woods, MJ, Phelps, Tyson, they all got hate. But their greatness outshines the bs, mostly foundation-less hate.

    This is exactly what I needed to hear. I let some negative things mess with my mind at my last comp and didn’t hit what I had set my mind on. I just couldn’t focus and was passive with everything. These pale in comparison to his losses (all of which I’ve been though, so condolences).

    I have commented b4 with this but have to say it again! I am not what I would call a fan of powerlifting. That being stated first, this channel has turned me into a fan. Also love that "meathead" is thrown around in the same podcasts, when at the same time, complicated, intense programming is being discussed. I bet half of the book smart people could not even grasp programming because it involves a healthy amount of common sense. Thank you always for the content! And sorry to bring up sadness but I miss the chemistry you and John had when either of you collaborated on the others videos. There are few things better than seeing a Mutually respectful strong great friendship & that is what the 2 of you showed always! Thank you & God Bless!

    On the first discussion - I can remember (years before I switched to multiply) a friend made the jump from raw.
    Asked him why and his response was along the lines of "Raw is just genetics and drugs, and my genetics suck. At least in gear there's a chance everyone else bombs".

    I'm confused about his distinction between "actual" 1000lb benchers wearing one type of shirt vs another. In both scenarios you're "actually" benching 1000lbs but in both scenarios you're getting massive assistance from the shirt so what's the difference?

    • @adamzevchik1385
      @adamzevchik1385 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Try a weight in each and you’ll know the difference

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He’s saying in traditional bench shirts there’s a learning curve/skill aspect that you need to develop over months/years whereas the band shirts you just slap on and day 1 you’re getting 200% carryover

    • @craighoughton3176
      @craighoughton3176 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamzevchik1385 I guess what I'm getting at is that while I understand the amount they're getting out of the equipment is different, at the end of the day drawing a line between one type of shirt and another makes no sense to me. I'm genuinely trying to understand where he thinks the distinction is, I'm a raw lifter so I have no context. If you're wearing the gear then trying to call your group of people "actual" thousand pound benchers and the other not "actual" 1k benchers seems odd.

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@craighoughton3176 I don't think it's any different to distinguishing between the 2 different types of knee coverage in raw lifts (sleeves vs wraps) or even between raw and equipped, or single ply and multiply. Otherwise the best parallel I can think of would be;
      raw = high jump
      traditional bench shirt = pole vault
      band shirt = high jump off a trampoline

    • @craighoughton3176
      @craighoughton3176 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Dr_Footbrake I'll be honest, none of your examples make any sense to me. I can squat exactly as much without sleeves as I can with them, just less confortably. So adding a device (wraps) to increase that number seems pretty different than already wearing one type of device to using another. It seems more like Raw is high jump, bench shirts are on a trampoline, and banded bench shirts are on a more bouncy trampoline. The stuff they do on that trampoline (or in the powerlifting gear) is obviously mind blowing but if you said one guy was "a real triple backflipper" and another guy wasn't because of the type of trampoline then you see where my confusion lies.
