    Fighter, Monk, Black, and White is the easiest starter party. Since the Monk doesn't use weapons past the Lich he saves you a lot of money which is helpful since the Fighter is the most expensive to equip and the spells for your mages can get expensive too.

      Imo the fighter isn't that bad. To get the best stuff is expensive, but even if you don't buy him anything, he'll still find many upgrades throughout the game and will have by far the best defense no matter what.

    Most fun and balanced party to me is Fighter, RDM, Thf, Whm. (Top to bottom.)
    Then when upgrade Knight, Ninja, RedWz, WhWiz.
    You'll utilize every piece of equipment just about in the game with this party.
    Having multiple characters with Sabre/Haste is also awesome.

  • @theinsanegamer1024
    @theinsanegamer1024 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    For beginners, I would recommend a party something like this
    Warrior
    Warrior
    Red Mage
    White Mage
    This will give you a good mix of black and white magic, with multiple characters who can heal (and the Knight with that first level Blink spell, whatever it was called, allowing them to give themselves a buff helps) The Red Mage is a little more bulky than the standard Black Mage as well, making it more sturdy. The only issue is it's a *little* expensive for magic and especially equipment, but ultimately you'll survive perfectly fine like this, and have enough damage that you can beat the game easily enough.
    If you want "Big numbers/kill everything quick" group,
    Warrior
    Red Mage
    White Mage
    Monk
    Monks, at least in the versions after the NES, are freaking strong. Easily able to hit over 1k damage with a single buff, by end game they can hit well over 2k with buffs. Given the final boss only has like, 10-20k hp, you'll finish the final boss in like, 10 turns if you keep setting up and keep them alive. I would know, this is my preferred party.

  • @AdamantineAxe

    I liked two Warriors, Thief, Red Mage. It was end-game focused as Ninja and usually Red Wizzard would get off first-turn fast on the Kights before they attacked. I used this party to grind to max level by hunting Warmechs. My favorite thing though is that the two Knights can wear both Heal Helmets so you don't waste any of the very limited armor inventory space just hauling one of them.
    If you don't have a White Wizzard for Exit, you need a Ninja to learn Warp if you want to raid the final level and get back out for more Warmech hunting.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Two Warriors, Red Mage, and White Mage is another really good party. I like your setup because the Ninja and Red Wizard can both cast Fast on turn 1, then the Red Mage or Ninja can Fast the Ninja on turn 2.

      Very true but low armour making hard for solos. I think I mention he is the highest damage dealer if not I apologise. Sometimes hard to cover everything 😁 thank you for watching

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, but can only hit one enemy at a time and is barely more durable than a Black Mage. You can under perfect conditions kill Chaos in one turn with a single Black Belt at max level, but under those same conditions a Knight can do it in like four turns while not having struggled to stay alive to get there. It is a fun gimmick and the inflated boss HP of the remakes takes that away from them.

  • @Chokoboh
    @Chokoboh 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    My favourite party is Warrior, Monk, Red Mage and White Mage.
    I really like the simplistic and reliable power of physical damage. Monk is the best at that AND he balances out having a Warrior in terms of money cause he's cheap to equip while Warrior is costly.
    And the Red Mage is reliably good in every department.
    Doesn't die as quick as the Black Mage and is one of the better physical damage dealers, being less reliant on MP. Also doubles/triples as a healer so the party is virtually unkillable.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Monk replaced with a second Warrior or a Thief/Ninja is generally more optimal, but this is a very good composition for all the reasons you outlined. Warriors are more reliable at being durable than the Monk, and does much more comparable damage with up to date weapons than people give him credit for. Ninja's best traits are "being about 80% of a pre-class change Fighter, but also learns Haste for himself and the Warrior".
      In terms of money, all the best Knight armor is found in dungeons, so one Knight is going to be just slightly out of date at a given time.

  • @RoninCatholic
    @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My first party was Warrior, Black Belt, Red Mage, White Mage. My second was Warrior, Red Mage, Black Mage, White Mage. My suggestion for beginners is Warrior, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage. You can swap the Thief for a Black Belt or a second Warrior, and won't hurt anything by taking a Warrior or a Black Mage in place of the Red Mage.
    Warrior is essential to any beginner party. Two warriors is worthy of consideration, even. Warrior is just _that_ good, though you hit diminishing returns at three warriors due to running low on late game armor (but have plenty of weapons).
    The Red Mage is strictly better than the Black Mage for beginners. More durable in the early game due to wearing armor, and late game magic doesn't scale very well. Fire/Ice/Lit 3 is more than good enough, you don't need Nuke. Acts as a backup healer, relieving the White Mage some. Black Mages are a bit better for someone seeking a challenge run, and simply _close enough_ in utility to be worth picking based on aesthetics. Red Mages and Red Wizards can also use plenty of swords and won't be slacking in the "kill enemies in melee to save MP" department like Black Mages and White Mages always will.
    Thief pre class change is strictly worse than Black Belt, Thief after class change is strictly better than Black Belt. Thieves help you run away from unwanted fights (even in the NES version where HOW it determines this is bugged to heck, the bugs accidentally still make Thieves good at it). Ninja is about on par with a pre-advancement Warrior for weapons and armor and adds all the most relevant black magic (Fire/Ice/Lit 2, Haste) for most of the game. Ninja is not as good as Knight but is a worthy addition to a team. Black Belt does decent damage to one enemy at a time, but Knight and Ninja with up to date weapons will beat or slightly exceed him there as well as being _vastly_ more durable.
    Any challenge run, either go four of the same class (even four Warriors struggle despite Warrior/Knight being far and away the best class in the game) or make any composition that doesn't have at least one Warrior and one White Mage. A Warrior with a Red Mage as his main healer will struggle a little in the mid and late game, and any party lacking a Warrior is going to be in serious hurt if the most durable person it can put in front is a pre-ninjitsu Thief or a Red Mage in chain mail. Lacking both a White Mage and a Warrior means the party will have a hard time, straight up.

      still is, as far as I understand they never fixed thief.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the 8bit days, the Thief was just a Fighter who was worse at being a Fighter than the Red Mage is while the Ninja was about on par with the pre-advancement Fighter, still strictly worse than a Knight, and could learn Fast. Biggest power jump of any character and better for general usage than the Black Belt/Master.
      It's also only in the 8bit days that the Monk/Master was able to one-shot Chaos on a perfect roll of the dice. Remakes inflated boss HP so that makes the low durability of this class even more of a liability.
      So the remakes have evened out those two, while the best classes by far remain Warrior, Red Mage, White Mage, and then an argument between the three guys on the blue and brown palette for who squeaks into fourth place.

    Uhm, many problems with your comments:
    Fighter/knight> best tank, access to 3 levelsl of white magic later, most armor/weapons, only complaint (heavy armor lowers evasion which makes "on-hit" effects hit more often -> poison(+), stone(1), stun(+), death(1), sleep(2), dark(1))
    gear (xcalibur, light axe, thor hr., def. sw.)(heal helm, dragon ar., pro-ring, aegis sh.)
    Monk/master>best dps (1), no spells, highest mdef (206), low dps at start, best unarmed/naked, lvl progression/hits if unequipped:

    Red mage/wiz.>hybrid caster(best), gets both white/black (limited) spells (up to lvl 7), versatile and best starting mage, magic power and effectiveness is less important late game, (cur 1-3, FIL 1-3, HOLD, MUTE, life1, exit, fast) remaining are hit/miss or resisted by foe family resistance. i guess the most offensively survivable party for the unique gear supplied would be Kn Nj Mk Rw... knight gets Xcal, Ninja gets Sasuke Blade... Masters fists do most damage anyways and Red Wiz gets Enlinzer for dawn of sorow or Masamune in vanila... some unique armor knight restricted, ninja restricted... cant remember about monk and red wiz armors... just cant equip the red and white cloaks but wont use them most of the time anyways... heal helm, fire 2 stick, gauntlet and then enlinzers holy will keep party healthy and plenty of damage coming// have a nice day

      Is the Enlinzer another localization's name for the Lightbringer? The Dawn of Souls also give you the Ragnarok for the Knight. The fact that the Red Wizard can use the Sun Sword in vanilla is also a respectable weapon even before the Masamune.

      Any party with a Fighter, a White Mage, and _either_ a Black Mage or a Red Mage will do well. Having both Black and Red works really well too, of course, but the Red Mage gives you all the Black Magic you need while also being able to wear respectable early game armor and use mid and late game swords. This is of course a great party suggestion as the two worst performers in the class lineup are the pre-advancement thief and the black belt.

    Everyone have their opinion I know, and mine will sound like one amidst a lot of contradictory other one but anyway.
    If you dont want to read me, I synthetisys in the last sentences.
    The big deal in this game to bit boss is to boost a physical attacker with black magic temper + haste.
    Aside those two spell, any other black magic spell is useless. By the time you unlock the AoE black magic spell, you also could get the gauntlet with cast thundara (idk its name in english).
    To continue, the only upside of blackmage is AoE spell and temper/haste. The first one is outplayed by the gauntlet and the second one, a redmage can cast it.
    --> black mage is the worst party member.
    Fighter is ok, it is a safe choice. The only downside is when he got promoted, he access useless white magic spell.
    The ninja, when promoted, is relatively equal to the warrior, with a better offense and a worse defense. But he access to haste + temper. This make it one of the two best character.
    Monk : best damage, and a beast with temper/haste. The second best character with ninja.
    White mage is mandatory because nobody can heal like him, and heal is super important VS mass AoE of omega, shinryu and others. It makes the whole adventure a f****g lot easier too.
    Red mage is the well rounded character, not good, not bad. Decent attack, white magic in the begining, and can cast haste and temper.
    Note : in the early game until class change, it is a semi-god due to the fact it is the only character who can cast black magic (other than bl. mage who is bad), good attack and good defense.
    To conclude, any team choice without ninja and monk is just an error. White mage is too usefull to not having one.
    Those 3 can hard-carry the fourth one to the whole game. Even a black mage (Ew !). I tend to choose red mage for the early game VS the Lich and Athos with temper and booster.
    A second ninja is a good choice too.
    A second monk if your crazy.
    A fighter to be safe.
    (Never choose 2 white mage please).
    (Not black mage !!!).
    Ps : im not a native english speaker, sorry for the mistakes !

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Warrior is better than Monk, Ninja is better than Monk, Red Mage is better than Monk, Monk is better than Black Mage. Warrior's lack of access to self-cast of Haste and Temper is one he shares with the Monk, and his armor keeps him alive long enough to actually get his hits in, a field where a Ninja is second place, Red Wizard is third, and a Monk is almost as bad as a Black Mage. Red Mage is of course straight up better than Black Mage, as you say. A Red Mage could be your main healer, but then you don't have Dia/Harm to drive away hordes of undead in the early game.

  • @DellikkilleD
    @DellikkilleD 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ...why would you include a thief.. at all? The class does literally nothing. Its broken,and was from release. This might literally be the worst possible advice. You wuld literally be better off just killing the thief, and have the bonus exp.
    Balanced party is warrior, blk mage, red mage and monk.
    End game white magic is pretty worthless, red mage gets all but the last 2 levels, which have no value plus has the ability to fight.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For beginners, I'd suggest Warrior/Red Mage/Black Mage/White Mage, Warrior/Monk/Red Mage/White Mage, or Warrior/Warrior/Red Mage/White Mage. Thief is good enough for most casual playthroughs and IMO Ninja is still better than Black Belt because he can cast Haste and wear armor, though pre-advancement the Thief is just "Fighter but slightly worse at actually fighting than a Red Mage"

  • @riskybitness
    @riskybitness 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thief in the second slot is a really bad choice. The second slot is your physical damage slot and Thief has the weakest physical damage of any non-magic user in the game. His only real strength is that he can use magical swords, but in the original nes version those don't even work! Monk is a much better choice for that slot. He hits way harder.
    Most players choose that because it's the archetypal fantasy RPG party, but in this particular game thief is useless.
    Red mage is also a terrible class unfortunately. Poor magic, poor defense and poor damage. Not worth taking up a slot.
    If you want a real challenge to RM, Th, RM, Th.

      Thief is an investment. Starts off as the worst job in the game then becomes a Ninja who is fantastic.

    • @Folutu
      @Folutu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually find Thief (especially post-NES Thief) to be a decent pick for a party slot. Thief in OG Final Fantasy is very much a late-bloomer class due to Class Change upgrading them from the frail Thief to the much more impressive Ninja which has much better armor options and an amazing set of weapons to use with the Thief's higher speed. Prior to that, you pick Thief to ensure that you'll be able to comfortably escape even the worst of non-boss encounters (which is a usefulness the Thief has in every version of Final Fantasy before class-changing to Ninja).
      By contrast, Red Mage can carry your ass in the beginning before they get overshadowed by the rest, though I've found use for him in the second slot as a secondary tank and fighter with access to several useful spells to get your buffs up quicker (and as a secondary mage for AoE clearing to make random encounters go by quicker). Red Mage is at it's worst in the Pixel Remaster because this version in particular lacks access to the Soul of Chaos items and the Intellect stat boosters which would have made them the best magic user in the game, but their spell versatility will still make them useful even in that version so long as you use them to supplement your actual casters and fighters.
      The current team I use in all Final Fantasy I games, including the Pixel Remaster, now is Red Mage/Thief/White Mage/Black Mage. Here, I use Red Mage as the primary fighter and secondary offense/support spellcaster for the early game due to their better earlygame armor and weapon options, Thief as a secondary fighter and to ensure I can run away, White Mage as the primary support spellcaster, and Black Mage as the primary offensive spellcaster. The hardest part for this party would be Earth Cave-to-early Class Change (immediately doing Ice Cave and Castle of Ordeals to Class Change and get the Airship before tackling any of the other Fiends/Dungeons), mostly due to the random encounters within (Lich was actually kind of easy since you have the Black and White Mages with you here; exploiting Lich's elemental weaknesses worked better than physically attacking him since his Slow spells were eerily accurate), but when you get your Class Change, the Ninja can immediately switch with the Red Wizard and be used as your main tank from that point onwards due to armor options that are almost as good as the Fighter/Knight's armor options.

      ninja rocking a sun sword is actually quite deadly and can haste himself// sure its not the best- but he isnt the worst either// my suggestion? have fun!! this wonderful classic is a brilloant gem to have a blast with! you can mix it up on purpose to add diversity rather than force cookoe cutters// im doing 2x white mage 2x black mage playthrough- no undead anywhere are safe from us and the doubble fir2 or bliz2 spells can sweep almost anything early// super dope as post litch you can start holding A on fight for all four and just use like 3 basic cure spells and get full hp on most trash mobs anyways// loads of fun- have a good 1

      Red Mage is a better class than Black Mage. What are you smoking? Red Mages rock the early game by wearing armor and using swords, being your second best melee option (right after the Fighter). All the important Black Magic spells - Fire/Ice/Lit 2 and 3, Haste - can be learned by Red Wizards. Red Wizards can still use late-game swords such as the Sun Sword, just not Katana and Xcalibur.
      Any party missing two or all three of Fighter, Red Mage, and White Mage will struggle, and of these Fighter is far and away the most important as Red Mage's job can be done slightly worse by both Ninja and Black Mage while White Mage's can be done slightly worse by Red Mage.

      4 warrior? Struggle. 4 monk? Die a lot until you get lucky and win from RNG. 3 warrior, 1 red or white mage? Easy win. 2 warrior, 1 red mage, 1 white mage? Easiest win.
