    For beginners, I would recommend a party something like this Warrior Warrior Red Mage White Mage This will give you a good mix of black and white magic, with multiple characters who can heal (and the Knight with that first level Blink spell, whatever it was called, allowing them to give themselves a buff helps) The Red Mage is a little more bulky than the standard Black Mage as well, making it more sturdy. The only issue is it's a *little* expensive for magic and especially equipment, but ultimately you'll survive perfectly fine like this, and have enough damage that you can beat the game easily enough. If you want "Big numbers/kill everything quick" group, Warrior Red Mage White Mage Monk Monks, at least in the versions after the NES, are freaking strong. Easily able to hit over 1k damage with a single buff, by end game they can hit well over 2k with buffs. Given the final boss only has like, 10-20k hp, you'll finish the final boss in like, 10 turns if you keep setting up and keep them alive. I would know, this is my preferred party.

    Yojimbo is not the strongest Aeon in terms of stats & you can't choose attacks - so he's the least practical. But he has the most powerful attack in the game with his Zanmato's instant kill. Anima's overdrive has the most non-elemental attacks out of all Aeons. The Magis Sister's are good because their is more than one of them & each one is as strong as any Aeon available, this means that they are probably the hardest to beat for your opponent & they can cause the most damage as their chances of being in Battle longer before dying are alot higher than the other Aeons. It's difficult to choose which one is strongest out of these 3, so I think all of them deserve a place as the strongest. My personal favourite is Anima.

    My first party was Warrior, Black Belt, Red Mage, White Mage. My second was Warrior, Red Mage, Black Mage, White Mage. My suggestion for beginners is Warrior, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage. You can swap the Thief for a Black Belt or a second Warrior, and won't hurt anything by taking a Warrior or a Black Mage in place of the Red Mage. Warrior is essential to any beginner party. Two warriors is worthy of consideration, even. Warrior is just _that_ good, though you hit diminishing returns at three warriors due to running low on late game armor (but have plenty of weapons). The Red Mage is strictly better than the Black Mage for beginners. More durable in the early game due to wearing armor, and late game magic doesn't scale very well. Fire/Ice/Lit 3 is more than good enough, you don't need Nuke. Acts as a backup healer, relieving the White Mage some. Black Mages are a bit better for someone seeking a challenge run, and simply _close enough_ in utility to be worth picking based on aesthetics. Red Mages and Red Wizards can also use plenty of swords and won't be slacking in the "kill enemies in melee to save MP" department like Black Mages and White Mages always will. Thief pre class change is strictly worse than Black Belt, Thief after class change is strictly better than Black Belt. Thieves help you run away from unwanted fights (even in the NES version where HOW it determines this is bugged to heck, the bugs accidentally still make Thieves good at it). Ninja is about on par with a pre-advancement Warrior for weapons and armor and adds all the most relevant black magic (Fire/Ice/Lit 2, Haste) for most of the game. Ninja is not as good as Knight but is a worthy addition to a team. Black Belt does decent damage to one enemy at a time, but Knight and Ninja with up to date weapons will beat or slightly exceed him there as well as being _vastly_ more durable. Any challenge run, either go four of the same class (even four Warriors struggle despite Warrior/Knight being far and away the best class in the game) or make any composition that doesn't have at least one Warrior and one White Mage. A Warrior with a Red Mage as his main healer will struggle a little in the mid and late game, and any party lacking a Warrior is going to be in serious hurt if the most durable person it can put in front is a pre-ninjitsu Thief or a Red Mage in chain mail. Lacking both a White Mage and a Warrior means the party will have a hard time, straight up.

  • @DellikkilleD
    @DellikkilleD 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ...why would you include a thief.. at all? The class does literally nothing. Its broken,and was from release. This might literally be the worst possible advice. You wuld literally be better off just killing the thief, and have the bonus exp. Balanced party is warrior, blk mage, red mage and monk. End game white magic is pretty worthless, red mage gets all but the last 2 levels, which have no value plus has the ability to fight.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For beginners, I'd suggest Warrior/Red Mage/Black Mage/White Mage, Warrior/Monk/Red Mage/White Mage, or Warrior/Warrior/Red Mage/White Mage. Thief is good enough for most casual playthroughs and IMO Ninja is still better than Black Belt because he can cast Haste and wear armor, though pre-advancement the Thief is just "Fighter but slightly worse at actually fighting than a Red Mage"

    Uhm, many problems with your comments: Fighter/knight> best tank, access to 3 levelsl of white magic later, most armor/weapons, only complaint (heavy armor lowers evasion which makes "on-hit" effects hit more often -> poison(+), stone(1), stun(+), death(1), sleep(2), dark(1)) gear (xcalibur, light axe, thor hr., def. sw.)(heal helm, dragon ar., pro-ring, aegis sh.) • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any party with a Fighter, a White Mage, and _either_ a Black Mage or a Red Mage will do well. Having both Black and Red works really well too, of course, but the Red Mage gives you all the Black Magic you need while also being able to wear respectable early game armor and use mid and late game swords. This is of course a great party suggestion as the two worst performers in the class lineup are the pre-advancement thief and the black belt.

    I liked two Warriors, Thief, Red Mage. It was end-game focused as Ninja and usually Red Wizzard would get off first-turn fast on the Kights before they attacked. I used this party to grind to max level by hunting Warmechs. My favorite thing though is that the two Knights can wear both Heal Helmets so you don't waste any of the very limited armor inventory space just hauling one of them. If you don't have a White Wizzard for Exit, you need a Ninja to learn Warp if you want to raid the final level and get back out for more Warmech hunting.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Two Warriors, Red Mage, and White Mage is another really good party. I like your setup because the Ninja and Red Wizard can both cast Fast on turn 1, then the Red Mage or Ninja can Fast the Ninja on turn 2.

    @Chokoboh 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My favourite party is Warrior, Monk, Red Mage and White Mage. I really like the simplistic and reliable power of physical damage. Monk is the best at that AND he balances out having a Warrior in terms of money cause he's cheap to equip while Warrior is costly. And the Red Mage is reliably good in every department. Doesn't die as quick as the Black Mage and is one of the better physical damage dealers, being less reliant on MP. Also doubles/triples as a healer so the party is virtually unkillable.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Monk replaced with a second Warrior or a Thief/Ninja is generally more optimal, but this is a very good composition for all the reasons you outlined. Warriors are more reliable at being durable than the Monk, and does much more comparable damage with up to date weapons than people give him credit for. Ninja's best traits are "being about 80% of a pre-class change Fighter, but also learns Haste for himself and the Warrior". In terms of money, all the best Knight armor is found in dungeons, so one Knight is going to be just slightly out of date at a given time.

    My rankings on their efficiency in their primary roles once you arrive on Gran Pulse FANG: Commando #1 (learns everything. High melee damage). Great limit break for turtle farming later on. There is an argument to say controlled sazh spamming blitz is marginally better though Saboteur #2 (she's the only debilitator at this point so an argument can be made that she is joint first with Vanille but debuffs are probably slightly more useful than debilitations if were trying to rank them) Sentinel #2 (snow's Sentinel is largely overkill anyway so fang having access to Sentinel and being very good at it is just the cherry on top) VANILLE: Saboteur #1 (she's the only debuffer at this point) Ravager #2 (targets every element to -aga level and has a high magic stat) Medic #2 (#1 with healers staff equipped) HOPE: Ravager #1 (targets every element to -aga level and has a high magic stat. Has more magic than Vanille thats why he is #1) Synergist #2 (this is only because offensive buffs are more useful than defensive buffs, otherwise I would say he is joint #1 with Sazh because they are the only Synergists that exist at this point of the game) Medic #1 (#2 if Vanille equips healers staff). Hope and Vanille in a /med/med paradigm is #1 vs any other combo of characters. To top it off Fang can join them to make it a sen/med/med. Won't ever be as good as snow joining them but as explained already snow sentinel is completely overkill for the majority of battles. Already you can see these three are just very good at all three of their prinary roles. After this it gets a bit harder to rank people imo... SNOW: Sentinel #1 (Sentinel is a fairly overkill role though that is not really needed that much. Using it against non boss encounters will likely auto fail any 5 stars too if anyone should care about that. Tbh it probably does on certain boss battles too (although on some story bosses the Sentinel is obviously really helpful) Commando #3 or #4 (Sazh is better. Lightning probably is too but thats a close one) Ravager #5 (all he gets is ice and water elements and he also cant hit everything on screen). If it werent for the fact fang doesnt have ravager at this point he would be #6 for me LIGHTNING: Medic #3 (shes only this high up because snow sazh and fang dont get their medic until much later. At maxed crystarium sazh and snow overtake her due to both getting curasa) Commando #3 or #4 (about the same as snow). Due to how fast Lightning attacks with the Axis Blade setup I am inclined to put Lightning #3 Ravager #4 (its between her and sazh but sazh probably has the better limit break) SAZH: Commando #2 (basically because of his blitz and his extremely powerful silk tiger weapon). Later on he falls below both lightning and snow though imo Synergist #1 (only character with offensive buffs at this stage). An argument could be made that Hope is joint #1 since hes also the only defensive buffs user. I just think offensive buffs are more important thats all Ravager #3. Cold Blood is better than Army of One imo. Thats the only reason, otherwise they are pretty close Its clear to me who the overall best party is when you arrive on Pulse sinxe they are scoring #1 or #2 across the board. At least two of them should be no brainers (Vanille and Sazh), so it's baffling to me why people choose the Lighting Hope Fang team (this still only has two commandos two lol). At max crystarium things change though (for example sazh becomes almost useless at every role in comparison to everyone else)

  • @nezkeys79
    @nezkeys79 ปีที่แล้ว

    FANG: Pandoran Spear tbh. If rather have the increased debilitation chance. Taming Pole is a very close second though if you want damage + random instant chain VANILLE: Belladonna Wand. For the same reason as Fangs Pandoran spear. Her Healing Staff would be second choice. When you have a party of Vanille and Hope in a double medic paradigm (+ snow sentinel) you will never die. Of course that party comes with it's own downsides though (having to go deep into secondary roles to get commando on both vanille and hope). So you're limited to just snows commando which is ok but again fang and sazh are probably better and snow really is only useful as a sentinel swap in against extremely tough enemies SAZH: Procyons. Not for stagger maintenance though because if you look up how its calculated its not that useful in reality). I equipped it for random instant chain. However once you get the silk tiger weapon that lowers his hp he becomes an early Adamantoise farming monster HOPE: Hawkeye. Simple. For the high magic to help with his healing and nuke damage. Second choice would probably be the urubutsin (its similar to lightnings axis blade in a way). His defensive buff weapon I didnt find all that useful because I rarely used defensive buffs SNOW: Umbra. For Fringeward buff. Snow is really only useful as a sentinel. When you bring him in for tough fights this weapon is very good since it reduces damage to the other party members. If i was going to make him offensive Id go Power Circle over Feymark anyway LIGHTNING: This is actually a fairly difficult choice because Lightning is such a bland average "red mage" type character who is a jack of all trades and master of none. You can make a case for all her weapons but you need to manipulate the stats otherwise her AI works against her damage output..For that reason I chose Axis Blade (the weapon that makes her attack very fast). I found the Quick Stagger weapon useless tbh

    • @groudonvert7286
      @groudonvert7286 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fang : Pandoran Spear is only useful for Shaolong Gui, Taming Pole outclasses it in every other fights. Ironically, the reason is because Snow is better at debilitating enemies (he only learns debilitating abilities in his Saboteur where Fang also learns Deprotect, Deshell and Imperil). The combination of Snow's Daze and Fang's attacks on Toise makes them a fast farming. Vanille : Healing Staff is way too expensive (it's one of the few weapons that needs an Adamantite that we can't farm). The magic given by the Belladona is enough for healing anyway. Sazh : Procyons needs a Dark Matter. Do I have to explain why this weapon is bad ? XD If you want a magic Sazh, just upgrade the Deneb. Also, maxed Hyadès Magnums and 1 maxed Power Glove are enough to kill Neochu in one stagger (on his own). So you have enough place for two RIC equipments. Hope : I would say Otshirvani is an interesting option too. I'm not that familiar with Hope though. Snow (defense) : Paladin is more interesting. AoE moves are rare in FF13 and a few fights really need Snow with an Umbra (Raktaija and Vercingetorix most notably), where many enemies in the game have single target focused attack, so the Paladin is in general better. The Umbra also needs an Adamantite to evolve, it's not a bad weapon per say, but Paladin is better in most cases. Snow (offense) : Feymark is one of the rare weapons to gain stats after evolving to rank 3 and it's particularly good for Toise enemies so Snow stays where he is. Power Circle is way too much expensive for what he offers, making Unsetting Sun a better weapon for physical offense. It's one of the two characters that can change their weapon depending of the enemies (if you want a Physical or a Magical oriented Snow). Lightning : Yeah Lionheart if a very bad weapon. The stats are awful and if Quick Stagger sounds nice, it's better to have higher stats. Lightning also suffers the same problem as Snow : you want to force her to use either magical or physical attacks. So her best weapons are actually Gladius for Physical Lightning or Edge Carbine for Magical attacks. Her other weapons are either too expansive or lack in stats to be of any utility. Also, the regular weapons (except for Hope where it's the Ninurta his basic weapons) are less expansive to upgrade and are a nice choice for early game.

      @nezkeys79 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@groudonvert7286 again you can't read. Snow doesn't get saboteur when you first step foot on Gran Pulse. He's one of the best daze spammers at max crystarium but please try and read better because I am talking very clearly about when the player arrives on Gran Pulse for the first time As for Fangs pandoran spear only being useful against Shaolong Gui that is pure delusion. Her debilitations are extremely useful from the moment you set foot on Gran Pulse and increasing the chance of them happening for a minor drop in attack is good the whole time. You CAN just say "ah ill take the less chance on the debilitates for extra damage" but if you cast something 6 times and it misses every time you just automatically lowered your dps anyway due to waiting longer for Debilitations to land. I've tested it extensively and the difference in success chance of Debilitations is noticeable with Pandoran equipped. With regards to the Healing Staff on Vanille I clearly stated that it's a second choice to a generally accepted best weapon. With it equipped she is #1 healer fact so why are you trying to even "correct" me here As for Sazh needing a Dark Matter, you get one before this point. Even if you didn't it's still a way to get Random: Instant Chain with one less accessory. The stat boost from deneb duellers at T2 is irrelevant. His best weapon is the hp reducing one anyway no matter what stage he is at As for your comments trying to distinguish snow from an attacker and defender, once again snow is just a swap in Sentinel for battles that are extremely tough because he's outclassed as a commando and ravager, and doesn't get access to synergist saboteur or medic. Umbra is still better because paladin on snow is completely overkill. Its far better to increase the defence of the rest of the party. The boosts to snow's attack and magic attack with T2 weapons is completely irrelevant and is absolutely not better than Fringeward 2. As for the comments comparing Snow to Lightning in terms of AI shenanigans and stat distribution it is just enforcing why they are middle of the road characters at this stage because they don't focus on one stat and just equalise them. Fang goes all out in physical attack and Vanille Hope go all out in magical. Sazh is an anomaly because the HP reduction weapon gives him 1000 1000 to both stats at T2 which is laughably more than any other T2 weapon for anyone. That in conjunction with his blitz is why he's better than Snow as a commando at this stage of the game. Hence the #3/#4 rating Comparing rank 3 weapons is nothing remotely close to arriving on Gran Pulse for the first time. I'm seriously sick of continually telling you this. Sazh has the best T2 weapon (the one that lowers his health) of any character damage wise at this point of the game and he is the only reliable way to farm Adamantoise at this stage outside of the extremely unreliable Death strategy

      @@nezkeys79 Uh... you didn't point out this. And if you were talking about when arriving on Gran Pulse, you wouldn't have mentionned Urubutsin who's the evolved version of Otshirvani... a weapon you get in chapter 12 (or you can buy in chapter 13). So now that's out of the window, I can answer to the rest of the comment. If I understand well what you're writing for a while now, your main team is Sazh/Vanille/Fang. So... what's the point of debilitating enemies when you can just use the Sentinel ? Most early hunts can be killed with Sazh on his own and the few ones where he can't (Geiseric and Bituitus for example), Fang's lacking a Ravageur becomes a problem. And if you really want to play Fang, it's Sazh that becomes the problem xD Healer Staff is a bad weapon because you need a considerable investment, just for a better healing. Healing with a maxed Malboro Wand is already enough. And also... better healing doesn't really matter when you have access to Renew. For a Dark Matter, you need 880k gils or farming Shaolong Gui. The time you get a Dark Matter, Sazh is already completely outclassed by Fang. Deneb Duellers is a weapon used for replacing the Vega. His Magic stats is an interesting takes for some hunts (Goblins most notably). And yes, it's outclassed by Hyadès Magnum (by the way, tier 3 Hyadès Magnum is extremely bad). Snow can be used both for his offensive and defensive abilities. Especially when you can't use Fang as a Commando (Shaolong Gui and Long Gui most notably and every fights you do before you finally invest in her Ravageur). Snow's Paladin is not overkill. Neochu and Picochu (for example) attack way too hard for him to survive long enough without the Paladin. Fringeward is also useless if you don't use Snow as a Sentinel, things that happens more often that not. Snow has utility for the entire game, while Fang and Hope absolutely needs a considerable investment in their Crystarium to have an utility in postgame. And about stats, equipments are there for that. It's not hard at all to force Snow and Lightning to do only magic or physical (in case of Snow, don't learn Aero). Do you know where you get the Tiger Paper weapon for Sazh at least ? It's in Oerba... so hours after you arrive on Pulse. Otshirvani is in Eden, so why are you comparing late game weapons to weapons after arriving on Pulse ? (where ironically enough, the best weapons are the ones you get from the beginning lol).

      @@groudonvert7286 dude I merely referenced weapons like Healing Staff putting her at #1 medic (facts), and yet you take this as me saying its her best weapon when I clearly said Belladonna is her best weapon. I only said Urubitsin because I forgot the name of the T1 so stop being pedantic and trying to imply my overall point was different, because it's pathetic Why are you saying fringeward is useless unless you use snow? Umbra is snow's weapon lmao Now you're saying Fangs commando can't be used either which is just pandering to this almighty awful take that fang is benched until max crystarium. You are beyond a normal conversation. Just because you did a speed run and think minor differences jn speed animation help you to complete the run quicker doss t mean every blind player reaching Gran Pulse for the first time is the same. The delusion that Fang is the worst character in the game is truly mind boggling especially when you replace her with Snow I'm out.

      @@nezkeys79 You keep mentionning late game weapons while accusing me that I mention late game weapons Taming Pole, Otshirvani and Hyadès Magnum (yes it's 2nd tier weapon name, because, like you, I forgot the first tier weapon name) are late game weapons. So excuse me to not take into consideration comments like that. And also... where did you mention in your first comment that it was when you arrive on Pulse exactly ? So how was I supposed to know it was for that specific period when you keep mentionning late game weapons ? Just read the part on Fang.

    I'd love to see how Cyber Group Studios will animate my top 4 favorite moments from the game: • When Zidane visits Garnet at the Lindblum high tower. • Garnet & Zidane having their romantic moment in Madain Sari on the boat • When Garnet cuts her hair • When Zidane & Garnet embrace each other at the end of the game The reason I love these moments is because they bring out the beauty between Zidane and Garnet's relationship in a way that is breathtaking and emotional all at the same time, to the point where you start to tear up or get goosebumps (at least in my case), especially when they were riding on the boat in Madain Sari. That's my most favorite one of all. Everytime I see that scene, I always get chills in my arms and chest and is very awestruck by it because it's just so enchanting. I'll give mad respect to Cyber Group Studios if they can recreate that particular scene in the animated series and capture the same emotional splendor like the game did, if not better 🙌🙌👏🏽

    What? Garnet's trance has the most potential to be busted if you raise her Spirit to max. It allows he to summon her Eidolon that she last used almost every turn. If she summoned Ark and you have Auto-Regen, that is always a full heal.

  • @groudonvert7286

    It's really easy to have 45 seconds stagger duration (the maximum), so Procyons are basically useless. Sazh's best weapon is actually the Pleiades Hi-Power leveled up to Hyades Magnum. It allows Sazh to be the best DPS in the game before getting a Genji Glove.

    i guess the most offensively survivable party for the unique gear supplied would be Kn Nj Mk Rw... knight gets Xcal, Ninja gets Sasuke Blade... Masters fists do most damage anyways and Red Wiz gets Enlinzer for dawn of sorow or Masamune in vanila... some unique armor knight restricted, ninja restricted... cant remember about monk and red wiz armors... just cant equip the red and white cloaks but wont use them most of the time anyways... heal helm, fire 2 stick, gauntlet and then enlinzers holy will keep party healthy and plenty of damage coming// have a nice day

      Is the Enlinzer another localization's name for the Lightbringer? The Dawn of Souls also give you the Ragnarok for the Knight. The fact that the Red Wizard can use the Sun Sword in vanilla is also a respectable weapon even before the Masamune.

    • @RoninCatholic
      @RoninCatholic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the 8bit days, the Thief was just a Fighter who was worse at being a Fighter than the Red Mage is while the Ninja was about on par with the pre-advancement Fighter, still strictly worse than a Knight, and could learn Fast. Biggest power jump of any character and better for general usage than the Black Belt/Master. It's also only in the 8bit days that the Monk/Master was able to one-shot Chaos on a perfect roll of the dice. Remakes inflated boss HP so that makes the low durability of this class even more of a liability. So the remakes have evened out those two, while the best classes by far remain Warrior, Red Mage, White Mage, and then an argument between the three guys on the blue and brown palette for who squeaks into fourth place.

    I know I'm a year late from the video, but here's a few things I'd like to see in the FF9 animated series (I'm just now knowing about this 😳) ➡ Series animation is similar to the game cutscenes ➡ Add music from the game to the series as well as the theme song "Melodies of Life" ➡ See the characters' powers & abilities in action ➡Monsters in the games are not too scary in the series ➡Has anime-like features in the series ➡ The series' plot is not corrupted for the sake of a younger audience (in other words, the show is not too childish or "kiddie-ish" even though it's aimed for 8- to 13-year-olds) ➡ The series will highlight Zidane & Dagger's romantic relationship
