  • My first video of my scraproom created on a budget. Everything in my room was either purchased on sale, on clearance, with coupons, or recycled. I hope this can help other ScrapRookies to store their stashes.

    I have been scouring youtube for ideas to get my craft room under control, and this is BY FAR THE BEST video out there on this subject!! PACKED with awesome ideas that are useful, practical, economical and easy for viewers to actually reproduce in their own space. Ive watched this a dozen times now and get new ideas every time. Your down to earth personality is appreciated as well! Hope your wedding was wonderful and that you are well!! Thank you :))

    • @ThePaperWheel

      The wedding hasn't happened yet, but thank you, it is a work in progress. I'm glad there is a platform where crafters and scrapbookers can share videos with other sister scrappers and crafters. My craft space looks much bigger on video than it actually is so utilizing the space as best I could was very important. I've learned lots of things since putting it together. l'm glad you found it useful and look forward to seeing your space when its done! Happy Craftin'! TFW

    I am so loving all your ideas, I am like some others comments, my local dollar tree does not have any of the great items you have. I have a small room, that I am trying to organize I know I need to use more of my wall space not sure how and what I don't have a lot of money but I have a lot of stuff, I have collected and now I have time to use them. but not the space . again you gave me a lot of ideas especially the ribbon stacker thanks so so much

      My next issue is how to store my rubber stamps I am not sure I want to do what you have done what would be another suggestion I like the ideal but for some reason I like the wood go figure, I am on the middle on this

  • @ThePaperWheel
    @ThePaperWheel  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Keep trying at Dollar Tree, eventually they may get them. I have seen them there. The one I go to is the 99cents Only Store. Not sure if they have that where you live but they are a common item so I would keep going to the Dollar Tree. They also have the little storage containers for brads and buttons and such there. But your right, our Dollar store here is the bomb, it even has a deli department, lol. TFW

  • @whatnowlisa

    It's ok! The dollar store has a lot of practical stuff! No need to spend an arm and a leg on a piece of furniture when you can find something similar for less =]. It's like clothes in my opinion: brand name doesn't matter as long as it doesn't affect its purpose. And what you did with your wooden stamps was brilliant. It's good to know that making a scrap room or any craft room doesn't have to be an expensive process.

    • @ThePaperWheel
      @ThePaperWheel  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sure doesn't have to be expensive! I'm always looking to find ways to organize my scraproom without spending a lot of money. I've made many changes to my space since the video and I'm looking forward to showing new ideas. I learn so much from watching videos. I hope this video helped.

    I love your dollar store storage those clear cubes, and slim plastic cases were the best! I don't have many wooden stamps, but I might just have to remove them from their blocks, was it hard to do without tearing the rubber? Pazzles. You can check on the Pazzles.com website. It does more than the Cameo, despite me only needing it to cut cardstock and such, I went with this machine instead ot the cameo because I paid $99 to have it shipped to my house and only $20 per month until its all paid. They have different price packages with different attachments on the website so buyers can choose what is the best thing for them. Its a great machine. I have used alot.

    Hey great video very creative just a suggestion.. you can buy a very small wooden dowel and put your thread on it or cut a metal clothes hanger and put em on there through the center holes with both ides:) just a thought and it be cheap you would probably need a center support for the metal hanger as you get more thread?

    In order to have scraps ready to use in any project you could get transparent 12 x 8 in document pouches from the dollar store for each color of the rainbow and store it with the rest of the paper in the shelf.

  • @ThePaperWheel
    @ThePaperWheel  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for watching! My tables are also from craigslist, listed under free stuff, type in office furniture, there is always someone giving away desks and chairs. Save, save, save. I also love the cubbies because I can always reposition them as my stash gets bigger or my needs change.

    also...sorry i am just commenting as i watch to try and share ideas that have worked for me... you can go to the postoffice and get those free boxed to ship stuff in and seal the opened end and cut them diagonally and store your scraps that way by color is how i store mine or yiu can even do it like you do your pics/page map idea with a cereal box but the po boxes are way sturdy!!! and if you put craft paper on the outside they look so cute:) just an fyi for ya!

    :) Most of it was purchased as a lot from craigslist. There are always people who sell stuff in bulk and I jumped on one of those deals. Just yesterday I was able to purchase 1000+ 12x12 sheets of paper for $35! Whenever I see deals like that I jump on it even if I don't need the paper (but I always need paper). Try craigslist, you might find some good stuff. TFW.

  • @ThePaperWheel
    @ThePaperWheel  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks. The great thing about the lil storage bins is you can move them around if you have to, to make different size shelves. Adding a little glue to hold them in place is an option but I like the freedom of taking them apart. For my daughters room I created the same shelving unit and I also spray painted them pink. Too Cute! Thanks for watching.

  • @ThePaperWheel
    @ThePaperWheel  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The rubber wasn't hard to remove at all. The newer stamp blocks are a bit tricky, but I hear popping them in the microwave for a few seconds helps to soften the glue. I've not had to do that because all of mine came off just fine. Oh, and Sylvester Stallone is my imaginary husband, I can not have a scraproom without him. LOL. TFW.

  • @ThePaperWheel

    Hi again. I have a Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Grand Caliber, in manual die cutting machines. Plus an E-bosser electric cutter (similar to the Vagabond, only with a larger size cutting platform than Vagabond). Also I have a Cricut Expression and Cameo Silhouette electronic cutting machine. If I had to choose just one manual cutter it would be the Grand Caliber, as it is the most versatile of the manual cutters. The cutting plates are much larger to allow cutting of multiple dies at one pass, or the gutting of extra large Grand Caliber dies. And if I were choosing just one Electronic cutting machine it would be the Cameo Silhouette. This machine is fabulous and I highly recommend it.

    Is there a fee to use page maps? or is it free and how do you print the layouts
    Thanks for sharing Im trying to start my craft room myself and like you I'm on a tight budget but I also love going to the dollar store so thanks for the tips.....

    • @ThePaperWheel
      @ThePaperWheel  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, there is no fee. Go to pagemaps.com and click the page maps link or archived link, whichever one takes you there, and a list of all the past months and years should come up, just click on them and print or you can save to your computer. I just print them, its easier to put them all in a book. Glad to help, can't wait to see how your craft room turns out. TFW!

    Hi...I just found this video and think your ideas are FANTASTIC! Who can't save a few dollars? Means you have more to spend on goodies!! I was so impressed with your creative use of so many dollar store finds.....I'm just annoyed that I can't get to my dollar store before they close today! ~TFS, Sharon (Go EAGLES!)

      I love, love, love, the Dollar Store when it comes to storage. I just can not afford the fancy stuff so I try to make due with what I can. And any storage container can be altered (painted) to fit your decor colors. Those cubes I used in my craft room, I also put some in my daughters room and made a shelf and spray painted them soft pink. She loves them. Do my eyes deceive me: Are you an Eagles fan, LOL, I didn't think there were that many of us left! Plz post a video of your space, would love to see it. TFW!

    LOL! Just how new are you...love all your ideas! And right away, I'm inspired with what to do with my scraps. I know a lot of people color code them and put them into the jumbo Ziplocks, but I have mine in large, portfolio type binders with handles and accordian file pockets. Hate it! You don't know how freeing it was to see yours just loose in a container! I'm reorganizing my scrap room, so have lots of empties and I'm going to dump my scraps in one TODAY! Easy to just stir them around and find what you need! So thanks. Oh, and sadly, my Dollar Tree doesn't have a lot of the neat storage items you found.

      @ThePaperWheel  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was looking for a way to store my scraps and as it turns out, this big bin really did work for me after all for several reasons: 1. Every time I look thru it I get to see what's in there so I won't forget. 2. the 'sorting by color' business would drive me bonkers, I'm not that disciplined, however, every now and then I go go thru the scraps and organize them by SIZE, not color or company, etc. there is a certain freedom to it, lol.

    Hi! Just wanted to let you know we are still watching your vid! You have a very relaxing voice to listen to & I totally enjoyed it. I have seen the idea of removing wooden stamps from the wood and mounting them on the cling foam. I don't have alot of wooden stamps but it seemed like a good idea -- until I saw a friend trying to pull the rubber from the wooden block! It is no piece of cake, especially the more expensive wooden stamps. The cheap ones come off when you don't want them to! So I decided I didn't have that many stamps to make it worthwhile. And I have to admit, I am one of those people who need the acrylic block because I NEVER stamp a wooden block straight! I love those ribbon boxes -- I am a ribbon junkie, put it on anything that will stand still long enough, and I have alot of them bought 1 at a time with coupons at Michaels and, sad to say, you are right, haven't seen them there anymore. My hubs made me a wooden brace that I could use to stabilize them when I took them to crops. They are brittle and break very easily. Cheers to you! Love your room!

      Hi Karen. Its nice to know my craft room storage video is still helping fellow crafters looking to get organized! Also, the ribbon storage bins, last time I checked, can be found at the Container Store. I'm not sure if it can be ordered online. Since this video I have found a much better way to store my stamps so I'm hoping to get a video of that up soon. Thanks so much for watching!

You rock girlie your room is so creative and it's nice that you have shown us newbies how to save some money in one area so we can spend it in other areas!! TFS!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! also you can buy velcro and attach it to ur inkpad and stick that material younuse for inking to the pad so youl know what color it was :)

      Do you mean the page layouts in my layouts binder? If so, I printed them from the internet from a site called pagemaps.com. The site is by Becky Fleck and you can click on past or present layouts to print in several different formats. I print as many as I can, put them in page protectors, then in a binder. It really helps.

    Hello I did not catch your name but wanted to let you know that I think your foam sheet glitter bottle/paints holder is a fantastic idea and I'm going to make one of those. And I was going to get rid of my wire rack cube things and now I'm going to use it for my pattern/card stock paper. So many good ideas. I also love your idea for changing your wood block stamps. Love, Love, Love, Very good ideas. Also going to use peg board idea. Keep those wonderful Frugal ideas coming. I shop at Tuesday Morning for paper and embellishments. Going to use the Dollar tree plastic cubes also, did not know that they stacked and locked. Fantastic Ideas.

    Hi Nora. I actually purchased them at a store called Daiso's. I'm not sure if that store is all over the country, I'm located in Northern Cali. Im sure stores like Office Depot, Office Max, or Staples may carry them. I hope you can find them, its a great storage solution.

    Newbie?! For a newbie, you sure do have a lot of stuff. I've been scrapping for years and my room is a walk in closet stuffed with shelves and supplies. Great ideas and great video! Thanks for sharing. btw: You probably already know this, but you can also use those unwanted cd cases. That what I have and I use a cd tower to store them. Keep them coming!

    • @ThePaperWheel

      I say newbie because I'm still totally learning how to use all this stuff. Sometimes I buy things (on sale of course) without knowing how to use them and I buy them simply because I saw someone here on TH-cam talking about it. It takes forever for me to learn how to use something. Thanks for the tip. TFW!

    I love your idea of "dismounting" your wood stamps to give you more space. I think this is something I will have to give some hard thought to. It would save me a ton of space! I'm sure there would be a couple I would have to leave mounted just for sentimental reasons. =) Thanks for sharing.

      Hey Barb, I did leave a few mounted just because they were my first stamps ever, and a few were my favorites, I get it. But it really does save a ton of space and I packed almost 275 stamps into those file folders. I can not tell you how happy I was to free up that space and how easy it is to categorize them now. I hope it works out for you, keep me posted. TFW!
