  • Restoring my 2003 Jaguar S-Type 4.2 V8 Sport. On day 11 of this rebuild (December 13, 2019), after detaching countless plugs and hoses, I finally manage to remove the AJ-V8 engine´s intake manifold.
🔔 Every day I´m working on this restoration is summarized in a separate video. To keep up with the project, consider subscribing: www.youtube.co...

    💡 About this Car Project
    --------------------------------------------------
I purchased my 2003 Jaguar S-Type 4.2 V8 Sport used at around 50k miles, put another 100k miles on it, and it always served me well.
In 2013, some expensive repairs would have been necessary to pass the annual inspection mandatory here in Austria. I decided against investing money and instead went for another car, my 2007 Mercedes-Benz E500 4matic.

Nevertheless I kept the Jaguar and promised myself that some day I would attempt a full rebuild. The time had come on August 31, 2019. After my S-Type had been abandoned for over 6 years, I rented a garage and ever since try to work at least once a week on this car restoration project.
The disassembly/ rebuild is done by myself without any professional support. To sort of proof that a "paper pusher" (as I am) can achieve this alone, I decided against just uploading a compilation of the most exciting moments or interim results, but instead try to get the whole process on camera, although using time lapse to keep it more or less endurable for you, my viewers.
Once the project is accomplished (I sincerely hope, it will be one day...), this video series may serve as a blueprint for restoring a Jaguar S-Type on your own.

Good to know how. I’m going to need the fuel line tool unless I let the fuel rail hang off the block

Regarding your remark @ 8:33 (being afraid that your car might have been part of "some illegal transportation activity"...: I am also at a total loss, what this is supposed to be, but at least I know now, that is was done in the factory and not by the previous owner, because my X-Type 2001 AWD has the same mysterious packages hidden under the air-intake...

It seems to bei either sound-dampening (to prevent an echo inside the "V") or insulating material (because of the plastic manifold). Or maybe even both at once 😎

Thank you for posting the many videos on the Jaguar restoration. I had to change the coolant return hose and have never worked on my car..lol..well I had to watch all your videos .Question I turned on my car after putting it back together and the engine reved up to 3000 RPMS..can you think what would cause that?

Which parts were removed to get to this hose?

Is this the 4.2 motor? I’m looking to do so on my xj8 and the motor seems pretty similar to mine the way it’s set up

Yes, it´s the facelift (2002.5) model already with the 4.2 V8 and the ZF (6HP26) trans.
