The letters to Steven is probably my favourite running joke on the channel ahah the amount of time spent on something that appears on the screen for like a second is respectable :)
Imagine going through the checkout lane at the store with Broccoli, Bagels, Peaches, Eggs, Batteries and Canned Soup, with the full knowledge that you're about to throw these six items into a bowl like some unholy elixir, yet the cashier has absolutely no clue
Ranagade Platinum is one of the most enjoyable difficulty hacks i;ve played. Draytano always manages to make games that are super difficult but never feel REALLY unfair at any point.
I also like that RenPlat remains faithful to the spirit of the vanilla game. Looking at a certain other game quite popular in PokeTube (*cough* EMERALDKAIZO *cough*).

Alright, I finally watched it. It was incredible and I must say that as far as I know (admittedly not much) you are the best nuzlocke content creator out there. Of course, PC's Kaizo videos were maybe the best stuff there'll be in years, but you are so consistent in making in-depth, high quality, extremely enjoyable nuzlocke videos it's unbelievable and one of my main motivations to play pokemon games I haven't watched already is to be able to fully enjoy your nuzlockes of them. I don't wanna sound like I'm buttering you up, but your content is incredible and probably everyone commenting here has a similar opinion. Good luck in your upcoming challenges
I'm so excited! I can't catch the streams so I look forward to watching the videos every time. I was really intrigued at the end of the last video so I can't wait to see how you beat it!
An idea for those runs in which you get a lot of encounters : while you present your E4 team, you could add a “close to hall of fame” presentation on those who carried you to that point but are not making the final team
You should do a snap Locke where instead of banning half the Pokédex, you do a snap Locke where you ban half the types and their stab moves. So if electric type is banned you can’t use thunderbolt or volt switch on any Pokémon.
that’s nice because it forces you to use some of the less desirable types like bug, ice, etc. it’d be interesting to see what types the community bans too
By watching your first attempt at Renegade Platinum, it encouraged me to try again and beat this game with hardcore nuzlocke rules, so far I'm at Roark with only 2 deaths, an Azurill and a Zigzagoon
Best of luck man it took me a couple of attempts back a while ago, my winning attempt had a literal graveyard of pokemon that I had sacked for guaranteed switches
what a legend, flygon is the best, he is getting me back into pokemon nuzlocking and pokemon in general. He is also helping me become a better nuzlocker while also being entertaining. The perfect blend of waht I like.
I absolutely loved this challenge. I also liked that it was broken up some. I think two videos was just as fun and made it easier to appreciate all the effort your out in. Honestly, I’m the future I wouldn’t mind seeing it broken up a little more with a little more details even (maybe 4 videos or so, nothing too crazy). Love everything you’re doing
In the Backlot & Saturn fight Famine's Snorlax avoids a flinch from Bronzong's Zen Headbutt, snaps out of confusion, and avoids a full paralysis to hit a yawn. It's a quick moment but a really interesting turn of events.
I have said this so many times but I love love love these videos! They're one of the things I look forward to every Saturday, and it's something to do on my breaks at work. I hope to catch some of the streams over summer when I'm out of school for a few months. Keep up the awesome vids, Dr Flygon!
Man you're undoubtedly the best nuzlocke content creator out there, alongside with pchal maybe. Your style and storytelling are just great, thanks for all you do!!!
Just wanted to say this series inspired me to play and beat renegade platinum and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the highlights. Keep up the good work king.
To answer your prompt around 1:19:41: I initially expected a similar presentation to your other themed nuzlockes, including video length. When you made a poll on twitter, I realized how naive that expectation was, and I voted for the "two videos, one for each attempt" option. I'm blown away with the result, and I enjoyed every second. Even having seen most of the highlights, these last two videos feel especially, well, special. Thank you as always.
I love the monologue you gave after the Maylene fight. In preparation for my recent Ultra Sun nuzlocke, I watched your video to see how you dealt with some of the major roadblocks like Araquanid, Kommo-o, Ultra Necrozma, Ribombee, etc. There were a few instances where I could copy exactly what you did, but I didn't want to get Tunnel vision or over confident in replicating what you did. I ended up using my own strategies and some were so rewarding. Curse Trevenant made the last gauntlet of difficult fights a cakewalk. I never thought I'd make use of Ghost type Curse in a nuzlocke, but it was insanely effective with how available Leftovers and Protect are in USUM.
I love it when commonly disparaged pokemon become god killers Peach earned the title and falling to Cynthia is the greatest honor for those who go to Valhalla
I feel like the Cheren fight in B2W2 is the ultimate teacher of “use what you’re given” in Nuzlockes. You have minimal options and he has a very scary setup strat with Work Up. However, many Pokémon can act as answers to him. Notably, Azurill can be found on Flocessy Ranch and can learn Charm, which cuts a foes Attack by two stages, outpacing the one stage buff Work Up provides.
I'm really glad I saved this until after I'd watched most of your other Nuzlockes over the past few weeks, it felt like the culmination of a lot of the work you've put in both as a player and as a content creator. Also, the soup bowl clip nearly killed me. GG, well done and all hail Peach.
Man, this rom hack looks so fun. I definitely need to give it a try. Although, I would probably do a normal playthrough before attempting a nuzlocke of it.
I really enjoyed these longer form videos! I was looking forward to watching the part 2 all week. I also listen to these videos more than watch while I work, so these longer videos with more talking is fun to listen to and passes time really well. Love getting to watch these vids every week man, thanks for all your hard work!
I love your editing and commentary. Rather than just boring timeline stuff you do funny edits and cuts and stuff. Like the bellsprout at the start. Keep up the great work. ESPECIALLY THE FAKES. Where you say “things went as planned” to which it then fails
I love the way you've constructed your narratives in these last two videos in particular. There's always going to be footage on the cutting room floor, but I think you've done an excellent job giving us the major beats of the two playthroughs. I prefer the longer form content in one video rather than shorter videos and cutting it up into several parts. On the one hand, splitting it up into several videos gives you more flexibility of what you can add into the narrative, but I think the better option (like in these last two videos at least) is to tell a tighter story with some extra length where you see fit to give us all the context/beats you need to hit. Keep up the great work!
God Snorlax wins the 12v12 with full health remaining what a beast. I'm sure Barry turned to flygon and said "don't worry bro Snorlax will even kill them with Struggle we got dis
My whole friend group watches your videos and LOVES them. (we always discuss after everyone’s seen them) and from our end it was unanimous approval of the multiple video formatting with longer videos. Incredible work Matti. We love your stuff so much.
Loved this longer video, I love your regular ones and many times I find myself wishing they were longer :) Even after having followed this run through the highlights channel and catching a couple streams on twitch, I thoroughly enjoyed these two vids. Thank you so much for your effort!
Worth pointing out again. The sound you make when CakeBatter dies is the same involuntary scream you had after the Ice Ice death, during the babys only. The sound of Tragedy.
I’m pretty sure that when you’re fighting a wild Pokémon, it’s nature has a 50% chance to be the same nature as the lead Pokémon in your party. Maybe that could be why you were getting hella calm Pokémon in the beginning?
Amazing video! I definitely support showing off all-stars like Blissey and Gyrados in these videos. We want you having fun, and the challenge was still hard even with them!
I really loved the style of these videos, especially where you highlight the important encounters and the tense moments that left me wondering whether you would get crit or not
These 2 videos are for sure the most fun I had watching a nuzlocke. Really good content Also, I was watching this on my bed. Had to get up to give Peach a standing ovation. The fish was the carry
I went absolutely crazy when I realised this Peach is *the* Peach I saw in stream(I only caught from Flint onwards). You were a god, Peach, above all the ones you've slain. You will not be forgotten. (also it's really fun to see your name in chat in the video lol)
45:15 Spoilers What an insane fight. You always remember those crits against you, but moments like these are equally as unlikely and equally insane. I love seeing the Snorlax carry! Old Testiment god indeed
Absolutely loved this 2 part video. Your commentary is top notch, easily my favourite nuzloke TH-camr. Congrats on finishing this hellishly difficult game dude.
This format worked very well for you. In the past you’ve always been a decent TH-camr with some rough spots. This video represents real growth on your part, keep it up!
Flygon, you should have brought your azumarill to Maylene’s gym fight, it walks the infernape that you struggled with so hard and can help against ballade and medicham too. It’s really good for maylenes fight and tbh the whole game.
I came across your channel only a few videos into its inception and you're one of the few who I always look forward to getting a notification for a new upload from. Every run through be it an actual game or ROM hack is so enjoyable. Also worth mentioning that while the sponsored sections are usually nothing I would have any interest in - the segues are always well done. Love the channel, keep up the phenomenal work.
cant believe i spent almost 3 hours of my life watching a random guy struggling with a pokemon game. It was a blast, keep up the amazing work. You are by far my favourite nuzlocker and you let me enjoy pokemon on another level!
These were so fun to watch! But there was so much more that was glossed over that I loved watching on the highlights channel. I think you could have split up the run into 3-5 videos that captured more of the fights and drama in greater detail. Stuff like the Caitlin fight wouldve been cool to see, esp because thats not a thing in Vanilla platinum
i really like the way that you split up these videos into two, it makes it feel like a “bigger” cinematic type of adventure while keeping the charm of your regular style. definitely keep it like this for blaze black rather than shortening it!
Honestly these were definitely some of the best vids you've done on this channel, hands down! I'm looking forward to whatever you post next, always enjoy seeing a new upload from you!
All the hard work was so worth it. This video was amazing! It’s so good to hear you are having fun c: I have no critique; I am always just happy for more commentated videos from you. More like this will be absolutely welcome in my eyes.
The letters are so funny, and these videos have been a great length. Three hours to talk about your entire ren plat experience was perfect, and it was very educational.
Can we talk about the hours this guy puts in? He plays his Nuzlockes, edits his runs, write scripts and then personally narrate his content? This is an 80 minute video. Awesome stuff and commitment!

I have said this so many times but I love love love these videos! They're one of the things I look forward to every Saturday, and it's something to do on my breaks at work. I hope to catch some of the streams over summer when I'm out of school for a few months. Keep up the awesome vids, Dr Flygon!
23:45 Zen Headbutt also has a flinch chance. Barry's Snorlax is a beast!
I can't explain why but I got emotional watching your journey, I'm seriously proud of you for both videos
Love this format! You have a very natural story telling voice. This game looks so fun
Well deserved victory! You and your discord community have been a great place for me to learn about nuzlocking and inspire myself to go further.
I love it when commonly disparaged pokemon become god killers
Peach earned the title and falling to Cynthia is the greatest honor for those who go to Valhalla
I have never been so excited for a Pokémon video. Keep up the good work 😁
I feel like the Cheren fight in B2W2 is the ultimate teacher of “use what you’re given” in Nuzlockes. You have minimal options and he has a very scary setup strat with Work Up. However, many Pokémon can act as answers to him. Notably, Azurill can be found on Flocessy Ranch and can learn Charm, which cuts a foes Attack by two stages, outpacing the one stage buff Work Up provides.
yay new daddy Stone letter 😊
also Nosepass mating season sounds terrifying
Horny nosepass sounds terrifying
I'm really glad I saved this until after I'd watched most of your other Nuzlockes over the past few weeks, it felt like the culmination of a lot of the work you've put in both as a player and as a content creator.
Also, the soup bowl clip nearly killed me.
GG, well done and all hail Peach.
Man, this rom hack looks so fun. I definitely need to give it a try. Although, I would probably do a normal playthrough before attempting a nuzlocke of it.
Weavile: *Exists*
Tabasco: "And I took that personally."
matti! im glad you're having fun bc these vids are so cool! im happy that i get to study with your vods lol. have a great day :')
I really enjoyed these longer form videos! I was looking forward to watching the part 2 all week. I also listen to these videos more than watch while I work, so these longer videos with more talking is fun to listen to and passes time really well. Love getting to watch these vids every week man, thanks for all your hard work!
Was looking forward to this! I was trying to catch up with vod highlights but now I can watch this
I love your editing and commentary. Rather than just boring timeline stuff you do funny edits and cuts and stuff. Like the bellsprout at the start. Keep up the great work. ESPECIALLY THE FAKES. Where you say “things went as planned” to which it then fails
That 12v12 was such a good battle!
What a journey. I watched the whole thing between the Highlights and VODs channels. Thank you so much! This was so much fun.
I haven't played a single pokemon game in years but I so enjoy those videos so much. Just simply fun to watch.
Peach's Sacrifice will always be remembered 🙌💐
Loved this longer video, I love your regular ones and many times I find myself wishing they were longer :) Even after having followed this run through the highlights channel and catching a couple streams on twitch, I thoroughly enjoyed these two vids. Thank you so much for your effort!
love the vid, loved the streams. hope to see you take on more rom hacks in the future.
Drifblim has been my favorite Pokémon since I was six, thank you for letting it shine!!
Worth pointing out again. The sound you make when CakeBatter dies is the same involuntary scream you had after the Ice Ice death, during the babys only.
The sound of Tragedy.
Loved the video. Going through a rough sleeping period. I always appriciate your videos as a way to Relax before bed and hopefuly fall asleep
I’m pretty sure that when you’re fighting a wild Pokémon, it’s nature has a 50% chance to be the same nature as the lead Pokémon in your party. Maybe that could be why you were getting hella calm Pokémon in the beginning?
Actually, that could be a ridiculously good strategy if it is true, to manipulate natures.
That's only true if the lead pokemon has the ability Synchronize
Amazing video! I definitely support showing off all-stars like Blissey and Gyrados in these videos. We want you having fun, and the challenge was still hard even with them!
id like to imagine that clefable was holding up a giant middle finger when she one-shot scnnitzel
I really loved the style of these videos, especially where you highlight the important encounters and the tense moments that left me wondering whether you would get crit or not
i love how you put the proper effort to correctly gender all your pokemon, even the ones without gender
These 2 videos are for sure the most fun I had watching a nuzlocke. Really good content
Also, I was watching this on my bed. Had to get up to give Peach a standing ovation. The fish was the carry
good challenge idea: beating pokemon with only the alphabet (only unown)
I went absolutely crazy when I realised this Peach is *the* Peach I saw in stream(I only caught from Flint onwards). You were a god, Peach, above all the ones you've slain. You will not be forgotten. (also it's really fun to see your name in chat in the video lol)

What an insane fight. You always remember those crits against you, but moments like these are equally as unlikely and equally insane. I love seeing the Snorlax carry! Old Testiment god indeed
Absolutely loved this 2 part video. Your commentary is top notch, easily my favourite nuzloke TH-camr. Congrats on finishing this hellishly difficult game dude.
why are you edging ur pokemon??
Because its optimal
Vaporeon asked nicely
FGHG - this series has been the best nuzlocke 'epic saga' on youtube. You put in more effort on your content than your peers, and it shows. GJ :)
I love the format of these videos legit feel like movies that have me on the edge of my seat, keep up the great work!
Peach! Noooooo! You were so brave and selfless. You were the biggest heart I've ever seen.
The quality of your content is amazing. I loved the two long videos. Great work.
Please do more ROMs in this format. I loved watching them. It was so interesting watching the thought process for each battle. So good
i really like the way that you split up these videos into two, it makes it feel like a “bigger” cinematic type of adventure while keeping the charm of your regular style. definitely keep it like this for blaze black rather than shortening it!
Honestly these were definitely some of the best vids you've done on this channel, hands down! I'm looking forward to whatever you post next, always enjoy seeing a new upload from you!
What a fantastic pair of videos. I think the length of them was perfect and I love how you told the story.
I was so excited to see this video pop up on my notifications! What a wild challenge. Rest in power, Peach.
I liked this as rwo videos. Honestly, there was a lot going on and I like how you went into more details for both runs
This was good, both the length and the content. Hope future romhacks/fangames are in similar fashion
