One time, in Pokemon Emerald, I ran into a Golden Poochyena on my way to face May for the very first time, so before I had any Pokeballs. It was at about 3AM on thw ay home from a road trip my family would take every summer, I even took a photo of it for memories on my mothers digital camera. Those were the days, man.

I remember, back on its official release date, I bought Pokémon Diamond and not more than 3 hours into the game when I was on Eterna Forest, I encountered a full odds shiny female Buneary! It also had the Run Away ability and so I knew it would have Cute Charm when it evolved into Lopunny (I studied up on the game up until release date)! I was so stoked! I nicknamed her Luscious and she was a Contest Star Veteran! She took 1st in every rank of the Cuteness contests she was in while in Diamond! I eventually transferred her up into Omega Ruby and she dominated all ranks of the Cuteness contests in Hoenn, too! She is now officially retired from contests and resides safely in my copy of Pokémon Shield! I've had her for so many years and she's my most prized Pokémon I own!

when i was younger, my friends little brother actually got a legit random Cute Charm ID on his Platinum. We didn't find out until he tried to use his brothers save to get a female Combee, put a cute charm Lopunny in the front slot, and immediately started running into a bunch of shinies 🤣 IDK the odds of the getting the right ID combo on the first try are, but I know they aren't high

I found a shiny Giratina while revisiting platinum as an adult. I wasn’t even shiny hunting, I was just trying to catch the box legendary. Best replay ever!
I was sort of listening to this in the background and I almost choked when I heard the shiny took 9 hours. I respect the absolute commitment because I could never try something like that for that long.
The first and ONLY ever shiny Pokémon I encountered (to my knowledge, as I didn’t know about shiny Pokémon when I was young) was a shinx on Pokémon platinum. I was so excited because i think it’s one of the coolest looking shiny Pokémon I’ve ever seen. I caught it and carried on for about 2 minutes until my game crashed as my DS was very old and I was forced to turn it off, only to go back on and realise I forgot to save the game. To this day it still haunts me and also remains my only ever shiny encounter. Fs in the chat

Relatable. That happened to me while playing Pokemon Gold. I apparently caught a shiny Pidgey. It showed the ✨️ symbol in the summary beside its name. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what made it different from a normal Pidgey... This was back during the "dial-up" days of the internet, so I couldn't even Google search it. Turns out it was pretty special after all! At the time, I really didn't think much of it though lol.

It’s 2008, I’m 10 years old. I just got Pokemon platinum on my Nintendo DS, it’s the first pokemon game I’ve ever played. I start it up and pick chimchar as my starter. He was shiny. I didn’t even know that was a thing and why he was pink, but it was okay. I ended up completing the pokedex and had about 500+ hrs on that game.
I'm not gunna say this video is faked, but if a pokemon is shiny, it would stay shiny in the evolution scene. The monferno shown is not pink, but rather the orange of a normal monferno. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
You are correct, it's possible maybe he went and recorded that segment with a non shiny because he didn't record it originally and just did it so there was something on screen. But only he really knows.

@@sohamraj183 I was just giving a hypothetical, it might not even be the same save in which the evolution was recorded. It seems more plausible that someone who is cheating would have the means to make sure an error like that wouldn't happen. Because it did happen I'm leaning more towards the possibility of the video being legit.
I believe it is fake, (atleast the chimchar) the rivals starter at the beginning is female, which is not possible because the gender of their pokémon is hardcoded into the game and not based on chance. The rivals starter will always be male unless you force your own starter to be shiny. You can also notice that the rival's starter changes to a male at the next battle.
1:06 notice how the rival starter is female. All of the rival Pokemon gender are hard coded in the game so it's impossible for them to get a female starter. Bit suspicious if you ask me lol

Got a full odds heatran and didnt know it for ages until i battled against a friend of mine. I found out about shinys when he screeched "IS THAT A SHINY HEATRAN!" at me. (Shiny version of heatran is pretty much the same as base form so its hard to notice)
Also, “I don’t want Cheryl to kill any shinies I could get.” 😂 you overestimate her and that Chansey A LOT 😂

I just noticed this too and was wondering why 😭?? Someone else pointed out how it couldve been a fake shiny due to the rival's starter being female (which i'm unsure how the hardwiring behind this works)

I love finding shinies but I'll never specifically hunt them, especially in older titles. Way too much work for a payoff that, while novel, isn't especially worth it imo. This definitely creates an interesting dynamic in the context of a Nuzlocke though, since your control over your encounters is just as low as normal, but unless you're willing to spend tens of hours hunting shinies you'll get significantly less encounters than normal.

Craziest Pokemon story I have. Pokemon emerald I saved and then encountered a shiny shuppet. I was a kid and thought my game boy was having a glitch and so I turned the game off. Turned it back on and encountered ANOTHER shiny shuppet. Which unfortunately confirmed my “game boy is glitched” theory. So naturally I turned the game off again. It took until 2016 before I found another shiny Pokemon. I called it the shiny curse.
And yes. That’s back to back shiny shuppets that I passed on at full odds in an og Pokemon game

I think you could avoid the Lopunny sack by just using the Drain Punch over Dizzy Punch hoping for a confusion that was not guaranteed, so quite the mistake and not sure what was going on with Giratina fainting, but overall great job. I love all the Pokémon you caught, they are awesome Pokémon, you made great picks which I enjoyed.

Great video man, pokemon platinum is really fun. I started a new run too a while ago and a few days ago I was battling Giratina and I couldn't catch it for the life of me. After about like 10 resets because he killed himself every time, I battle him again and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a shiny fuckin Giratina. I immediately threw a masterball no questions asked and I was shaking because sometimes my game freezes on its own and the dialogue was too fucking much and all I wanted to do was save. At the end I saved the game and searched the odds up, 1/8000 and about 70 hours for one. That's probably the luckiest I will ever get in Pokemon. From all my time I have played this game from emerald to the new games I have gotten a legitimate shiny ONCE. Insane luck and something that's engraved in my core memory forever.
